Judge in Trump classified documents case proposes 'insane' jury instructions, experts say

    excerpt:

"In one, Cannon said jurors should “make a factual finding as to whether the government had proven beyond a reasonable doubt” the records are personal or presidential.

In the other, Cannon proposed telling jurors “a president has sole authority under the PRA to categorize records as personal or presidential during his/her presidency. Neither a court nor a jury is permitted to make or review such as categorization decision.”"

In other words, Trump has sole authority to determine what government property he deems to be his personal property.

Cannon just told the prosecutors and defense attorneys to inform the jurors of this opinion of hers.

It's supposed to be the other way around. Prosecutors and defense attorneys present their case to the jury which determines the outcome.

Trump has said that Mar-a-Lago is worth 1.8 billion dollars and billionaires would buy it quickly at such a price if up for sale.

Trump can't seem to produce the bond money for a case he lost stemming from his over-inflated valuation of his properties. Those properties are supposedly worth so much and so attractive to buyers, yet he can't sell them at that inflated price to make bond money.

Swalwell gives time of death for GOP quest to impeach Biden.

Swalwell pronounces ‘time of death’ for GOP’s Biden impeachment push | The Hill

    excerpt:

"Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) pronounced a “time of death” for the House GOP’s impeachment push against President Biden at a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing Wednesday.

“I dare you impeach,” Swalwell said to committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.). “But you won’t, because you don’t have the evidence. And because you don’t have the evidence, you don’t have the votes. Guys, it’s dead. And so, I’m here to pronounce the time of death.”

The California Democrat then stood up and wrote “5:16 [p.m.]” on a board held by a person behind him that had the words “BIDEN IMPEACHMENT TIME OF DEATH” across the top."

Trump is for sale. Whoever loans / gives him the bond money will want much in return. Let's hope the money DOES NOT come from Russia.:sunglasses:

Oh, I expect there will be a last minute reprieve. He just has to play it for all the grifting an publicity he can first. Maybe he can put that famous scowl on for the bank camera when he's in line filling out his $500M withdrawal slip.

The push to put Trump back in the White House is getting a boost from people he pardoned before leaving | CNN Politics

    excerpt;

"Manafort is in discussions to assist the Republican National Convention this summer where Trump will officially become the party’s presidential nominee once again, CNN and other outlets reported this week. His anticipated involvement would make Manafort the latest beneficiary of clemency under Trump to assist the former president’s political comeback.

He is far from the first.

More than a dozen people pardoned of their crimes or who had their sentences commuted by Trump have since aided the former president as he seeks a return to power. Some have donated their considerable wealth to the cause. A handful endure on the periphery of his political operation as purveyors of Trump’s false conspiracies about the 2020 election, like former top adviser Steve Bannon. Others are outspoken backers with considerable followings, such as rapper Kodak Black, conservative writer and Trump biographer Conrad Black and Phil Lyman, a former US representative now running for Utah governor.

One GOP consultant who received a pardon, John Tate, made more than $70,000 last year consulting for Trump’s presidential campaign, federal records show."

Trump has since made Whatley the chair of the RNC and his daughter-in-law co-chair of RNC.

The push to put Trump back in the White House is getting a boost from people he pardoned before leaving | CNN Politics

    excerpt;

"Other stalwart Trump allies beside Manafort to receive a pardon included: veteran Republican operative Roger Stone, who was also indicted by Mueller and convicted of multiple crimes; Bannon, who had pleaded not guilty to charges he defrauded donors in a “We Build the Wall” online fundraising campaign; and Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser charged with lying to the FBI.

Without Trump’s intervention, it’s possible all four could have spent the 2024 election cycle serving federal punishments. Stone in 2020 was sentenced to three years in prison and two years of supervised release. Trump pardoned Bannon before he went to trial, but his three co-defendants last year received prison sentences ranging from three to five years. Flynn pleaded guilty but was never sentenced and faced a maximum of five years in prison.

Instead, they’re now key players in the effort to reelect Trump, emerging as some of his most ardent defenders to their sizable audiences. Stone remains an outspoken supporter of his longtime friend, trafficking in unsavory rumors about Trump’s political opponents on social media and hosting a radio show on a conservative New York station that debuted with a Trump appearance. He is also a regular at Mar-a-Lago and walked out with Trump’s campaign staff on Super Tuesday for the former president’s victory speech."

Donald Trump dementia evidence "overwhelming," says top psychiatrist

    excerpt:

"In another statement released at the same time, New York psychologist Suzanne Lachmann said Trump, 77, would "seemingly forget how the sentence began and invent something in the middle" resulting in "an incomprehensible word salad"—a behavior she argued is observed "frequently in patients who have dementia."

Meanwhile, John Gartner, a psychologist and former professor at Johns Hopkins University Medical School, has defended Biden's forgetfulness as a natural sign of his age, but authored a petition that argues Trump is "showing unmistakable signs strongly suggesting dementia.""

Trump has more psychiatric issues than just dementia, Trump is unable to accept reality, such as his 2020 election loss. His extreme narcissism is yet another problem.

His psychiatric issues in the public's view seem to be concealed by his superficial bluster.

Trump makes word salads frequently and he continually confuses Obama with Biden. But he says it with such bluster and conviction that it seems acceptable in the mind of the general public.

Commentary about Lev Parnas testimony to Congress.

'Humiliating': Conservative Pundit Says Republicans Just Had 'A Very Bad Day'

    excerpt:

"Conservative commentator Charlie Sykes said Republicans completely embarrassed themselves Wednesday as they continued to push their floundering impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

“It is one thing to say that this thing is falling apart, but that actually understates how horrifically bad this is,” the MSNBC columnist said on the network Wednesday. “I mean, this was dumb and dumber. Lev Parnas coming out and just humiliating this committee.”

He was referring to testimony from Parnas, a Ukrainian businessman and former Rudy Giuliani associate, who appeared at Wednesday’s House Oversight Committee impeachment hearing.

Parnas said in his opening statement that the “American people have been lied to” by former President Donald Trump, Giuliani, and other Republican allies in Congress, accusing them of spreading misinformation about the Biden family.

He said there was no evidence Biden was involved in corruption tied to Ukraine, and said the Republican allegations against the president were predicated on Russian disinformation."

Sentencing delayed for rioter, Whitton, who attacked police at the Capitol.

Sedition Hunters reportedly have uncovered video that shows him attacking police in another incident.

Jan. 6 rioter sentencing delayed as video of alleged separate police assault surfaces: Report

    excerpt:

"A former CrossFit instructor turned rioter who beat and dragged police while telling them they were “gonna die tonight” on Jan. 6 will not be sentenced this week as planned after new video emerged allegedly showing him assaulting a different police officer defending the U.S. Capitol from a mob of former President Donald Trump‘s supporters.

Jack Wade Whitton, of Georgia, pleaded guilty in September 2022 to attacking police at the Capitol, admitting he used a metal crutch to beat one officer before kicking another and then dragging the one he assaulted with the crutch down a flight of steps.

That same officer, a statement of offense shows, was beaten with a flagpole and baton by other rioters as Whitton dragged him. Court records show Whitton admitted to walking up to a line of police and kicking at them as someone screamed at him to stop but instead, he struck at police riot shields, continued kicking officers and vowed: “You’re gonna die tonight.”"

    Article from August 2023.

Cassidy was censured for voting to convict Trump for his second impeachment.

GOP Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy says Trump should drop out of 2024 race

    excerpt:

“Our Constitution and our country is more important than any one person. I voted to convict President Trump because he is guilty,” Cassidy said in a statement at the time.

The Louisiana Republican Party’s executive committee unanimously voted for Cassidy to be censured the same day.

Since then, Cassidy has repeatedly made it clear he doesn’t believe Trump to be a viable candidate to lead the party again, arguing that he was “the first president in the Republican side at least to lose the House, the Senate and the presidency in four years,” in an interview with Axios in 2021.

And in May of this year, Cassidy told CNN, “I don’t think Trump can win a general election.”
