Secret Service agents are law enforcement officials. It seems that if they observed illegal activities at Mar-a-Lago, including those committed by Trump, that they would be obligated to report it to the appropriate authorities (in the case of the government documents, to the DOJ). They might not say anything about it to Trump at the time so as to let him run his course while he is being investigated quietly.

It's a quirky situation for Trump to have them around him considering his propensity to try to skirt the law. If Trump tried to flee the country during criminal proceedings, the SS isn't going help him flee or ignore it. They escorted him to NY to be arrested, booked, and arraigned in April.

 

That assumes Trump doesn't have them under his loyalty spell.

Trump has had the freedom to choose which agents he wants to serve him at the White House and after his term ended. He's known for selecting the utmost loyal people.
