Jan. 6 committee subpoenas Pat Cipollone.

    https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3542052-jan-6-committee-subpoenas-pat-cipollone/

    excerpt:

"The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol has subpoenaed former White House counsel Pat Cipollone after public pleas for him to testify before the panel.

“The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed evidence that Mr. Cipollone repeatedly raised legal and other concerns about President Trump’s activities on January 6th and in the days that preceded,” Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) and Vice Chair Liz Cheney said in a statement.

“While the Select Committee appreciates Mr. Cipollone’s earlier informal engagement with our investigation, the committee needs to hear from him on the record, as other former White House counsels have done in other congressional investigations.”

“Any concerns Mr. Cipollone has about the institutional prerogatives of the office he previously held are clearly outweighed by the need for his testimony,” they added."

In other words, Cipollone and other Trump staff were concerned that they would face criminal charges if they helped Trump in his quest to overthrow the election.

The indicted Tina Peters who wants to be secretary of state of Colorado finished third in the primary.

    She says she didn't lose.

    excerpt:

“We didn’t lose, we just found evidence of more fraud … they’re cheating and we’ll prove it once again,” Peters said on Tuesday after finishing third in her GOP primary.

Peters was indicted by a Mesa County grand jury. She's still under investigation at the state and federal level.

Rudy Giuliani seemingly admits asking Trump for pardon on Twitter — then deletes post

    excerpt:

    "Bad grammar or guilty conscious?

Rudy Giuliani appeared to have admitted asking for a pardon from former President Donald Trump over his role in the Jan. 6 attack — but then quickly deleted the post on Twitter.

Trump’s former personal lawyer wrote on Wednesday that former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson was not truthful when she testified before the Jan. 6 committee that Giuliani asked for a pardon from Trump.

“She was never present when I asked for a pardon,” Giuliani wrote."

Giuliani has exhibited that Freudian-slip behavior when trying to defend Trump. It may be his lengthy history as a prosecutor. It seems to just happen naturally for him.

Giuliani says: Hutchinson wasn't even present when Trump threw his plate of food at the White House wall and when he said Pence should be hanged.

Giuliani is notorious for mis-dialing phone numbers. He left a lengthy voice mail message to a reporter (of all people) about a scheme involving an operative to dig up a few hundred grand who was visiting Turkey.

Giuliani accidentally calls reporter, leaves voicemail about needing ‘a few hundred thousand’ dollars | The Hill

    excerpt:

"President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani appeared to accidentally call an NBC News reporter and leave a voicemail in which he can be heard discussing money, NBC reported Friday.

The call came in after 11 p.m. on Oct. 16 and Giuliani appeared to be speaking with someone else in the same room, according to the news outlet, which published a portion of the audio.

The former New York City mayor discussed the kingdom of Bahrain and someone named Robert, according to NBC.

“You know, Charles would have a hard time with a fraud case ‘cause he didn’t do any due diligence,” Giuliani said.

It was not clear who Charles is, NBC reported.

“Let’s get back to business,” he reportedly continued. “I gotta get you to get on Bahrain.”

Giuliani is then heard saying he has “got to call Robert again tomorrow.”

    “Is Robert around?” Giuliani asked.

“He’s in Turkey,” responded the other man in the room.

“The problem is we need some money,” Giuliani said, adding after several seconds of silence, “we need a few hundred thousand.”

NBC News reported that Giuliani had worked with somebody called Robert Mangas in the past, who is a registered agent of Turkey’s government and co-shareholder of the law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, which Giuliani worked for until May 2018."

Rioter who called Trump his idol pleads guilty to felonies.

Nevada Man Who Called Trump His 'Idol' Pleads Guilty to Two Jan. 6 Felonies, Agrees to Cooperate with Feds

    excerpt:

"A Nevada man who had referred to former President Donald Trump as his “idol” has pleaded guilty to two felonies in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Nathaniel DeGrave, 32, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers on Jan. 6, as thousands of Trump supporters descended on the Capitol. The mob overwhelmed police and successfully breached the building, interrupting Congress’ certification of Joe Biden’s electoral win and forcing lawmakers to evacuate or shelter in place for hours.

DeGrave technically faces up to 20 years in prison on the obstruction charge and up to eight years on the assault charge. Both counts carry a potential fine of up to $250,000."

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...3bebb8-f72e-11ec-81db-ac07a394a86b_story.html

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — Michael Stenger, who served as the U.S. Senate’s sergeant-at-arms and resigned after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol, has died. He was 71.

Stenger died Monday of natural causes, according to two people familiar with the matter. One of the people said he had been diagnosed with cancer and had been ill. The people would not discuss details of his condition publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Stenger had served in the role as the sergeant-at-arms of the Senate since 2018 and had previously worked for the U.S. Secret Service for more than three decades.

Sen. Mitch McConnell, who was majority leader at the time, requested Stenger’s resignation the day after the pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol. The Senate’s top Democrat, Sen. Chuck Schumer, had vowed that he would fire Stenger when he became Senate majority leader later in the month.

The House sergeant-at-arms, Paul Irving, and Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund also resigned after the insurrection."

    excerpt:

"Secret Service officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, disputed her account.

But the officials did say Mr. Engel, Mr. Ornato and the driver of the Suburban are prepared to confirm to the committee another damning finding from Ms. Hutchinson’s testimony: that Mr. Trump demanded his agents bring him to the Capitol so he could join his supporters, even after they emphasized the dangerous scene playing out there.

The willingness of the agents to provide potentially critical details about the person they were protecting marks a rare turn for an agency that has historically prioritized the secrecy of presidents, even in the face of investigations."

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/donald-trump-cassidy-hutchinson-charges-1.6505547

    excerpt:

"The ex-aide to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows made a series of startling claims at the House committee's abruptly called hearing on Tuesday — the most potentially damaging of which was that Trump knew people gathering near the Capitol early on Jan. 6, 2021, had weapons.

But he told officials to let them into a rally, still armed, after which they'd "march to the Capitol," Hutchinson said.

"The thing that really struck me was how directly it tied Trump to the violence, the assault on the Capitol itself," said Randall Eliason, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

"Pretty compelling, pretty damaging for Trump."

Only the Justice Department, which has been conducting its own investigation, can lay charges, but the House panel can send the department criminal referrals.

Prior hearings have focused on Trump's non-violent efforts to overturn the election, whether by pressuring state officials or Vice-President Mike Pence. But Hutchinson's testimony "was really the strongest evidence we had directly tying Trump into the mob violence in the Capitol," Eliason said."

Barr a 'RINO,' Ivanka 'checked out': Trump tries to explain the Jan. 6 testimony against him

    excerpt:

"Before the 2020 election, Trump lavished praise on Barr, calling him “a very straight shooter” and “a man with incredible integrity.”

Quickly responding to the June 9 hearing, during which portions of Barr’s testimony were shown, Trump called him “a coward” and a “weak and frightened Attorney General.”

Three days later, with Barr’s comments dominating news coverage, Trump used a different phrase to describe his former AG, referring to him as a RINO, which stands for "Republican in name only."

“Former A.G. Bill Barr, a RINO if there ever was one, didn’t have the courage or stamina to go after voter fraud — Was afraid he was going to be impeached,” Trump wrote in a statement posted to his social media platform, Truth Social. “NO GUTS, NO GLORY!!!”"

Trump endorses candidate running against Bowers.

Trump endorses GOP rival to Jan. 6 witness Rusty Bowers

    excerpt:

"PHOENIX (AP) — Donald Trump on Wednesday endorsed the Republican running against Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, who last week gave powerful testimony to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Bowers, who is blocked by term limits from seeking another term in the Arizona House, is running for an open seat in the state Senate. Trump praised his GOP primary rival, former Sen. David Farnsworth, for supporting the lie that the 2020 election was marred by fraud.

“Bowers must be defeated, and highly respected David Farnsworth is the man to do it,” Trump said in his endorsement. “He will straighten things out and secure your Border.”

In his testimony last week, Bowers walked through what started with a Trump phone call on a Sunday after he returned from church. The defeated president laid out a proposal to have the state replace its electors for President Joe Biden with others favoring Trump.

“I said, ‘Look, you’re asking me to do something that is counter to my oath, ’” Bowers testified."
