    Article from 2021.

Trump is having remarkably little sway over how Senate Republicans are voting on infrastructure

    excerpt:

"Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Saturday threatening to withhold his endorsement from any Republican who supports the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill. Hours later, 18 Republican senators voted to advance the infrastructure package anyway.

It was just a procedural vote (the Senate hasn’t voted yet on passage of the bill, as of Monday afternoon). But the chain of events illustrates that at least when it comes to infrastructure, the former president’s threats don’t seem to carry the weight they once did.

This was on stark display on Fox News on Sunday morning as one of the Republican senators who voted to advance the infrastructure bill, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, went on Maria Bartiromo’s show and was castigated for not toeing the line."

Remember that Huge Infrastructure Package that Trump single handedly passed into law?

    Yeah, neither do I.

Trump made campaign promises about infrastructure but later tried to sabotage the efforts by Congress to implement it without him.

Trump is known for not accomplishing and saying that he will give the U.S. a better deal later in a second term, like he did about healthcare, agriculture, trade, and education.

Yeah, but even the Republicans that voted against the bill are saying "Look what I did for you" when they get back home and talk to their constituents... Go figure.

Trump is having remarkably little sway over how Senate Republicans are voting on infrastructure

    excerpt:

"But Trump, unsurprisingly, is not interested in “bipartisan success stories.” The irony is that when Trump was president, he could have theoretically been the one to have such a success story: During his administration, empty promises of infrastructure legislation were bandied about so often that “infrastructure week” became a punchline. But now that he’s out of office, Trump is urging Republicans to hold off even longer."

Trump had four years worth of 'infrastructure week' and accomplished nothing.

Republicans controlled the House and Senate during Trump's first two years in office.

After the GOP lost the House in 2018, Trump sheepishly said that he thought it could be good because he would be able to work with Democrats better than Republicans, particularly on issues such as infrastructure.

The extent of the derangement of some Trump supporters.

'A citizen's arrest': Texas GOP megadonor boasted of plan to attack AC repairman over voter fraud scheme

    excerpt:

"On Friday, the Houston Chronicle reported on newly revealed details of indicted Texas Republican powerbroker Steven Holtze's plot to "arrest" an A.C. repairman as part of a bizarre scheme to prove he was part of a voter fraud conspiracy.

"Two days before a private investigator looking into a voter fraud conspiracy theory smashed into an air conditioning repairman’s truck and pulled a gun on him, far-right activist Steven Hotze called then-U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick and told him about the plans to have 'a wreck,' court documents show," said the report. "Hotze, who funded the investigation and now faces felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint, asked Patrick whether he could send federal marshals to help his private investigator. The investigator, former Houston Police Department captain Mark Aguirre, faces the same charges.""

'A citizen's arrest': Texas GOP megadonor boasted of plan to attack AC repairman over voter fraud scheme

    excerpt:

"The call took place on October 17, as early voting in Texas was underway.

“We’ve surveilled them for the last two nights and still my, my, Mark Aguirre, he said he wants to capture them when they bring (the ballots) out and leave tonight to deliver them but he needs a federal marshal with him,” said Hotze on the call. “In fact, [Aguirre] told me last night, hell, I’m gonna have, the guy’s gonna have a wreck tomorrow. I’m going to run into him and I’m gonna make a citizen’s arrest.”

After Hotze rammed the van and broke in with a gun, he did not find the stacks of ballots he believed were in there. He was indicted for the misadventure in April."

That's similar to the fantasy of 'star witness' Melissa Carone of MI who insinuated at a public government hearing that a food truck smuggled ballots for Biden into a ballot counting center.

Mike Lindell was at Trump's Oz PA rally.

He's become a mainstay at Trump rallies.

A/C repairman held at gunpoint sues Hotze, group that funded bogus investigation

    excerpt:

"An air conditioning repairman who was held at gunpoint last October as part of a right-wing group’s voter fraud investigation has sued the group and its CEO, Houston conservative activist Steven Hotze.

David Lopez, the repairman, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Hotze and his organization, Liberty Center for God and Country, for civil conspiracy, civil theft, and aiding and abetting Mark Aguirre, the former Houston police captain who faces a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an Oct. 19 confrontation with Lopez."

They are very afraid of Texas going blue.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2022/05/06/hotze-texas-recording-ballots/

    excerpt:

"Hotze has continued to raise money to hunt for election fraud.

“A criminal element in our society has developed a well-organized vote fraud scheme that they are using to turn Texas blue,” a page on the website for Hotze’s health clinic stated while advertising the April fundraiser, called the Freedom Gala. The website urged donations ranging from $50 to $20,000 per person to the Liberty Center to continue to “hire private detectives to investigate, identify, and expose the criminal vote fraud scheme in Harris County and across Texas.”"

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2022/05/06/hotze-texas-recording-ballots/

    excerpt:

"In the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, Hotze received regular briefings about the private investigation from a former Houston police officer hired to run the probe, he said in his deposition. During weekly calls, he said, the ex-cop, Mark Aguirre, detailed his pursuit of a sensational theory: Democrats were using undocumented Hispanic children to forge signatures on hundreds of thousands of phony ballots to rig the election in Harris County, home to Houston.

“From what he told me, it appeared he was hot on a trail,” Hotze said in the deposition."

Mike Lindell was the keynote speaker at one of Hotze's fundraising events.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2022/05/06/hotze-texas-recording-ballots/

    excerpt:

"Hotze has pledged more investigations. In early April he hosted a sold-out fundraiser to help bankroll them through his nonprofit. The keynote speaker at the event was My Pillow chief executive Mike Lindell, a prominent promoter of baseless claims — rejected by court after court — that Trump lost in a rigged election."

A/C repairman held at gunpoint sues Hotze, group that funded bogus investigation

    excerpt:

“David Lopez feared for his life, believing Mark Aguirre was robbing him,” the state district court filing states. “With his loaded gun pointed at Mr. Lopez, Defendant Aguirre began shouting orders. Fearing that ‘he is going to shoot me’ and that his life was about to end on the side of the road, David Lopez realized his only hope was to cooperate, so he laid on the ground while Mark Aguirre held a gun to him and placed his knee on David Lopez’s back.”

Other members of Aguirre’s team searched Lopez’s truck and, after finding it did not contain any ballots, drove it from the scene while Aguirre continued to hold Lopez at gunpoint with his knee in his back, according to the suit. At one point, Aguirre cocked his pistol, Lopez said."
