Trump quiet on abortion issue, except for remarks criticizing the leak.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/05/06/abortion-trump-rally-oz/

    excerpt:

"Today, former president Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Pennsylvania with celebrity doctor and GOP Senate hopeful Mehmet Oz. Among the things we’ll be watching: What, if anything, Trump has to say about abortion. Trump, who appointed three of the conservative Supreme Court justices who appear on the verge of overturning Roe v. Wade, has been largely silent on the subject."

Yeah, and 5 million doctors that actually went and graduated med school have proven vaccines are effective and safe. Do these jackasses understand the bottom line cost of treating aids patients? Why would we induce long term medical care on millions by giving them aids ? I mean, have your conspiracy theories, but Jesus, they need to have some sense to them.

    https://thehill.com/news/campaign/3...rump-backed-senate-candidate-in-pennsylvania/

    excerpt:

"Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo raised concerns about the ties Mehmet Oz, former President Trump’s endorsed candidate in the Pennsylvania Senate race, has to Turkey in a press briefing arranged by Oz’s chief opponent in the race.

Pompeo, who’s supporting Oz’s rival, Dave McCormick, in the Keystone State, held the briefing the same day Trump is expected to stump in Pennsylvania for Oz. The briefing was first advertised by the McCormick campaign.

The former secretary of State, who served under Trump, said McCormick is a “patriot,” unlike Oz, whom Pompeo accused of having ties to the Turkish government.

The briefing marks a notable escalation by Pompeo, who has fueled speculation in recent months that he’s mulling a presidential run in 2024. Trump is also widely expected to mount another White House bid.

“Dave would make an extraordinary United States senator,” Pompeo said during the briefing."

I don't understand the whole Oz thing. You'd think he'd be on the other team.

    Caveman rioter sentenced to prison.

Man who stormed Capitol in caveman costume gets prison

    excerpt:

"A New York City judge's son who stormed the U.S. Capitol wearing a furry “caveman" costume was sentenced on Friday to eight months in prison.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg told Aaron Mostofsky that he was "literally on the front lines” of the mob's attack on Jan. 6, 2021.

“What you and others did on that day imposed an indelible stain on how our nation is perceived, both at home and abroad, and that can't be undone,” the judge told Mostofsky, 35.

Boasberg also sentenced Mostofsky to one year of supervised release and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service and pay $2,000 in restitution.

Mostofsky had asked the judge for mercy, saying he was ashamed of his “contribution to the chaos of that day."

“I feel sorry for the officers that had to deal with that chaos,” said Mostofsky, who must report to prison on or after June 5."

Fox riled up Trump with stories about caravans that were traveling across Mexico and heading to the U.S. border.

Fox News wants you to be very afraid of what’s happening at the border

    excerpt:

"Fear-mongering about the migrant caravan is a tactic both Fox News — and President Donald Trump — employ

Ahead of the 2018 midterms, President Donald Trump began sounding the alarm about the migrant caravan from Central America, even though it was, at the time, hundreds of miles away. Fox News, of which Trump is an avid viewer and which often propagates his message, followed suit.

Vox’s Dara Lind explained what was going on:

The caravan is a perfect obsession for Trump for the same reason it’s a perfect obsession for Fox: powerful images that appear to validate conservative base fears of “invasion” by “lawless” foreigners and the countries that “send” them. Trump himself has been using imagery like this since he started his presidential campaign in 2015 and talked about Mexico “sending” rapists and murderers over the US-Mexico border.

Immediately after the midterms, Fox News stopped much of its chatter over the caravan — including suggestions that migrants carry disease and are terrorists, and that the caravan was funded by liberal billionaire George Soros. Trump stopped talking about it so much, too, after it was no longer useful for him as a way to scare voters to the polls."

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2021/what-happened-trump-jan-6-insurrection/

    excerpt:

"Many others tried to influence the president. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), a Trump booster, called him and said, “You have to denounce this.” Trump falsely claimed to McCarthy that the rioters were members of antifa, but McCarthy corrected him and said they were in fact Trump supporters.

“You know what I see, Kevin? I see people who are more upset about the election than you are. They like Trump more than you do,” the president replied.

“You’ve got to hold them,” McCarthy said. “You need to get on TV right now, you need to get on Twitter, you need to call these people off.”

Trump responded, “Kevin, they’re not my people.”

McCarthy told the president, “Yes they are, they just came through my windows and my staff is running for cover. Yeah, they’re your people. Call them off.”

A couple weeks after Trump's insurrection, McCarthy visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago and did a photo-op standing next to him,

McCarthy tried to downplay it by saying he didn't know a photo-op was planned.

New details about Trump-McCarthy shouting match show Trump refused to call off the rioters | CNN Politics

    excerpt:

"McCarthy insisted that the rioters were Trump’s supporters and begged Trump to call them off.

Trump’s comment set off what Republican lawmakers familiar with the call described as a shouting match between the two men. A furious McCarthy told the then-President the rioters were breaking into his office through the windows, and asked Trump, “Who the f–k do you think you are talking to?” according to a Republican lawmaker familiar with the call."

    https://thehill.com/homenews/house/...s-more-upset-about-the-election-than-you-are/

    excerpt:

"According to the lawmakers, Trump said, “Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are.”

The quote was first mentioned by Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (Wash.), who was one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, during a town hall. She and other Republicans confirmed it to CNN.

Herrera Beutler, who also later shared the quote in a statement, told the news outlet that the line demonstrated that “either [Trump] didn’t care, which is impeachable, because you cannot allow an attack on your soil, or he wanted it to happen and was OK with it, which makes me so angry.”"

Trump didn't think the rioters attacking McCarthy were Antifa. He used it as an excuse to not help McCarthy.

If he did think they were Anticfa, he would have jumped on the opportunity to crush them like he tried to do before.

Trump was overjoyed when a Antifa fugitive was shot dead by police in his car. He also reportedly asked the military if people protesting against police brutality could be shot dead or shot in the legs.

    Trump loses.

Judge dismisses Trump's lawsuit against Twitter

    excerpt:

"A judge dismissed a lawsuit former President Trump brought last year against Twitter and its then-CEO Jack Dorsey. The social media giant had sought to dismiss the suit, which Trump filed after Twitter banned him from its platform, for "failure to plausibly state a claim."

Trump, the American Conservative Union and five other people claimed Twitter violated their right to free speech under the First Amendment after it "censored" their accounts. U.S. District Judge for Northern California James Donato rejected their argument because Twitter is a private company, and the free speech clause in the Constitution applies only to the government. The judge found no evidence that Twitter acted on behalf of government officials, as plaintiffs also alleged."
