DC insider: Michigan Republicans ready to 'fix' Trump's next election loss by backing conspiracy kooks excerpt: "A pair of election conspiracists just won the Republican Party's backing in Michigan, cementing Donald Trump's control of the state party there. Matt DePerno and Kristina Karamo won the GOP's endorsement in their races for attorney general and secretary of state, respectively, and conservative columnist Amanda Carpenter said in her latest for The Bulwark that their ascension reveals a troubling concern for the Republican Party in Michigan. "Reasonable people would have to hope DePerno and Karamo get blown out in the general election and are never heard from again," Carpenter writes. "Their outlandish insistence that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump has led to considerable fractures within the Michigan Republican Party. As such, they’re viewed as longshots who will be unable to unite the party, win over independents, and beat the incumbent Democrats, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson." But the GOP seems more concerned with appeasing Trump's ego than actually winning the election."
Jim Jordan has made sketchy remarks that he doesn't remember calling Trump on Jan. 6. Meadows is still defying the Jan. 6 committee. New Congressional Evidence: Yes, Trump Allies Knew What Was Coming on Jan. 6 excerpt: "January 6 about the potential for violence on that day, but encouraged the rally anyway. “I just remember Mr. [Anthony] Ornato coming in and saying that we had intel reports saying that there could potentially be violence on the 6th,” said Hutchinson, referring to the former White House chief of operations. “And Mr. Meadows said: All right. Let’s talk about it,” Hutchinson recalled. It has been previously reported that rally organizers feared a march to the Capitol while Congress was certifying Joe Biden’s electoral win would turn dangerous; the committee has evidence that one organizer’s “urgent concerns” made their way up to Meadows, according to the Times. “Meadows was told that plans to try to overturn the 2020 election using so-called alternate electors were not ‘legally sound,’” the Times reports, though Meadows apparently supported such efforts anyway. “I have pushed for this. Not sure it is going to happen,” Meadows said in a text message to Jordan on the morning of January 6, referring to then-Vice President Mike Pence taking unilateral action to reject the counting of electoral votes that day."
The Florida Evangelicals told me, "No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord." (Deuteronomy 23:1) So if the Evangelicals of Florida are that rigid, we should just avoid them. Eventually, they'll drink the cleaning solution as Trump advised.
CNN Exclusive: Mark Meadows' 2,319 text messages reveal Trump's inner circle communications before and after Jan 6 - CNNPolitics excerpt: "The logs, which Meadows selectively provided to the House committee investigating the January 6 attack, show how the former chief of staff was at the nexus of sprawling conspiracy theories baselessly claiming the election had been stolen. They also demonstrate how he played a key role in the attempts to stop Biden’s certification on January 6. The never-before-seen texts include messages from Trump’s family – daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and son Donald Trump Jr. – as well as White House and campaign officials, Cabinet members, Republican Party leaders, January 6 rally organizers, Rudy Giuliani, My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, Sean Hannity and other Fox hosts. There are also text exchanges with more than 40 current and former Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. The texts include everything from plans to fight the election results to surprising and unexpected reactions on January 6 from some of Trump’s staunchest allies. At 2:28 p.m., Greene, the conservative firebrand who had helped to plan the congressional objections that day, texted Meadows with an urgent plea for help as the violence was unfolding at the Capitol"
CNN Exclusive: Mark Meadows' 2,319 text messages reveal Trump's inner circle communications before and after Jan 6 - CNNPolitics excerpt: “Mark I was just told there is an active shooter on the first floor of the Capitol Please tell the President to calm people This isn’t the way to solve anything,” Greene wrote. Meadows does not appear to reply. More messages flooded in. “Mark: he needs to stop this, now. Can I do anything to help?” Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s former acting White House chief of staff, texted Meadows. “It’s really bad up here on the hill. They have breached the Capitol,” Georgia Republican Rep. Barry Loudermilk wrote. “The president needs to stop this ASAP,” texted GOP Rep. William Timmons of South Carolina. “POTUS is engaging,” Meadows sent in response to Loudermilk. “We are doing it,” he texted to Timmons. “Thanks. This doesn’t help our cause,” Loudermilk replied. Shortly after, Donald Trump Jr. weighed in: “This his(sic) one you go to the mattresses on. They will try to fuck his entire legacy on this if it gets worse.”
Trump was engaging in what? Eating Big Macs while watching his riot on Fox? Trump's staff knew about the shooting inside the Capitol and other violence, yet Trump didn't do anything about it.
The same Trump who said he would run into the school unarmed and take down the active shooter himself.
As if Trump had a benevolent legacy before the riot. His riot at the Capitol was the culmination of all his underhanded approaches used throughout his term.
The riot was a physical manifestation of Trump's mafia-type methods, out in the open for everyone to see. If anything good could be said about the riot, it was that it revealed Trump's true self to the public.
The Jan. 6 committee has shown that the insurrection at the Capitol wasn't just an accident. While his public schedule went blank after the 2020 election, Trump and his inner staff were involved heavily, such as orchestrating the fake electors ploy and a coercion of Pence to force him to accept them or sow enough confusion for Pence to send the elector issue back to the states that Trump legitimately lost.
NY judge holds Trump in contempt. Judge holds Trump in contempt for failing to turn over documents to New York Attorney General Letitia James excerpt: "A New York judge on Monday held former President Donald Trump in contempt, and fined him $10,000 per day, for failing to comply with a subpoena requiring he turn over documents to investigators conducting a sprawling financial fraud probe for New York Attorney General Letitia James. "Mr. Trump, I know you take your business seriously, and I take mine seriously, I hereby hold you in civil contempt and fine you $10,000 a day," said New York Supreme Court judge Arthur Engoron. James' office asked for the contempt finding after Trump failed to meet a court-ordered March 31 deadline to turn over subpoenaed material, claiming he had none of the documents demanded in the civil probe."
CNN Exclusive: Mark Meadows' 2,319 text messages reveal Trump's inner circle communications before and after Jan 6 - CNNPolitics excerpt: "Meadows provided the cache of 2,319 messages to the January 6 committee in December 2021. But soon after, he stopped cooperating and refused to appear for a deposition. Ultimately, the House voted to hold the former White House chief of staff in contempt of Congress. The Justice Department has not yet announced whether it will charge Meadows. Meadows has sued the House committee in an attempt to block the congressional subpoenas. And in a late-night court filing on Friday, the committee responded with new details revealing Meadows was warned ahead of time that January 6 could turn violent, according to testimony from Cassidy Hutchison, one of Meadows’ former White House aides. In addition, the committee released text messages Meadows exchanged with Republican members of Congress, including texts with Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania about a scheme to replace Justice Department leaders who opposed Trump’s claims of election fraud. In late December, Perry reached out to Meadows, connecting him to then-DOJ official Jeffrey Clark, who was pushing unfounded claims of voter fraud inside the Justice Department. Trump was considering firing the acting attorney general and installing Clark instead. Clark invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 100 times when he spoke to the January 6 committee in February."
Sweden and Finland agree to submit NATO applications. Trump wasn't sure if Finland was part of Russia. Trump said NATO was obsolete when he was disparaging it for years. Now Trump claims he made NATO great again. https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2022-04-25/live-updates-blinken-says-russia-is-failing excerpt: "STOCKHOLM — Two newspapers - one Swedish, the other one Finnish - are reporting that the governments of Sweden and Finland have agreed to submit NATO applications at the same time and that it will happen in the middle of next month. The Finnish newspaper Iltalehti said that the Swedish government has expressed a wish to Finland that they apply together in the week starting May 22 and Swedish government sources confirmed the information to Sweden’s Expressen tabloid. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has led to growing support in Sweden and Finland, a Russian neighbor, for joining NATO. Though not members, both Nordic countries closely cooperate with NATO, allowing, among other things, the alliance’s troops to exercise on their soil. Helsinki and Stockholm have also substantially intensified their bilateral defense cooperation in the past years."
Yeah, NOW they think joining NATO is a great idea....for 50 years we never had to drop a dime....or a kroner, that is...
South Carolina Firefighter Who Yelled 'Civil War Two!' Outside Capitol Before Going in on Jan. 6 Pleads Guilty excerpt: A South Carolina firefighter who recorded rioters climbing the wall outside the Capitol and yelled “Let’s go!” and “Civil war two!” before entering the building himself on Jan. 6 has pleaded guilty. Elliot Bishai, 21, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of entering and remaining in a restricted building. The misdemeanor charge carries a potential one year in jail and a maximum $100,000 fine. He had also faced additional misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. Bishai admitted that on Jan. 6, he joined the crowd of Donald Trump supporters that had grown increasingly violent in an effort to push past police and enter the Capitol. As he approached the building, he took video of people climbing the terrace wall. “Let’s go, let’s go, you’ve got it!” Bishai acknowledged saying on the video. “Come on guys, keep pushing, keep pushing!” Bishai is also heard saying: “Let’s go, let’s go! Civil war two!”
Legislature gives DeSantis new election police to target voter fraud in Florida excerpt: "TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Republicans handed Gov. Ron DeSantis another legislative victory on Wednesday when they approved creating a stand-alone election police force designed to crack down on voter fraud. DeSantis proposed the special unit to tackle election crimes as he came under pressure from some Republicans to do a full-blown audit of the 2020 election even though former President Donald Trump had little trouble winning Florida and there were no widespread issues with fraudulent voting."
Gingrich sides with McCarthy. Newt Gingrich comes to Kevin McCarthy's defense — and it blows up in his face excerpt: "Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) came to the defense of House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after audio recordings proved McCarthy repeatedly lied when he denied not saying he would ask Donald Trump to resign following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Gingrich predicted McCarthy would still become Speaker and lashed out at Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for calling McCarthy "a liar and a traitor." "Elizabeth Warren attacking Kevin McCarthy over honesty tells you how frightened and unhinged the Democrats are," Gingrich charged. "Adam Schiff has been lying nonstop for at least four years. Biden is either lying or simply doesn’t know what he is saying much of the time. McCarthy will be Speaker." Gingrich received harsh criticism for his argument. "Will somebody tell this bloated sack of deceit that his 15 minutes are over?" Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) asked."
Source confirms GOP group chats discussing martial law: 'If they ever get out, we have a problem' excerpt: "House conservatives discussed the possibility that Donald Trump could declare martial law to remain in power, and they're concerned about those conversations leaking into public. CNN obtained more than 2,300 texts between former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and various Trump allies and family members, and one of those shows Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-A) discussing those group chats among GOP lawmakers. "In our private chat with only Members, several are saying the only way to save our Republic is for Trump to call for Marshall (sic) law," Greene told Meadows on Jan. 17, 2021. "I don't know on those things. I just wanted you to tell him. They stole this election. We all know. They will destroy our country next. Please tell him to declassify as much as possible so we can go after Biden and anyone else!" CBS News independently confirmed those texts with Meadows through a source on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, and someone close to the House conservatives also confirmed their existence."
