'Incredibly embarrassed and humiliated' Trump 'can't even face his folks at Mar-a-Lago: CNN excerpt: "Yeah," Henderson replied. "I mean, he is in his feelings about this. He is feeling incredibly embarrassed and humiliated, so he has created this alternative world where the Republicans can go to bat for him on January 6th and, by some miracle, overturn the will of the voters and reinstall him in the White House." "I imagine his world has just shattered in some ways," she continued. "All of the trappings that he has come to love about being president, this platform, being on the news all the time, every tweet people read and pay attention to, people around him treating him like the most powerful man in the world -- that is soon to disappear from this president's life. And I imagine even being at Mar-a-Lago where he has these followers and people who look up to him and want to be around him, he couldn't even face them at the end, at this party so he flew back to Washington -- where in some ways he has been holed up in the White House, not facing anyone, a lot of staffers have either left or are just working from home."
3,438 U.S. coronavirus deaths on New Year's Eve. 1.827 million coronavirus deaths worldwide. A somber end to a wretched year.
Trump's joyride at the hospital was symbolic of his selfishness. Trump’s Focus as the Pandemic Raged: What Would It Mean for Him? President Trump missed his chance to show that he could rise to the moment in the final chapter of his presidency and meet the defining challenge of his tenure. By Michael D. Shear, Maggie Haberman, Noah Weiland, Sharon LaFraniere and Mark Mazzetti Published Dec. 31, 2020Updated Jan. 1, 2021, 2:20 a.m. ET Trump’s Focus as the Pandemic Raged: What Would It Mean for Him? excerpt: Throughout late summer and fall, in the heat of a re-election campaign that he would go on to lose, and in the face of mounting evidence of a surge in infections and deaths far worse than in the spring, Mr. Trump’s management of the crisis — unsteady, unscientific and colored by politics all year — was in effect reduced to a single question: What would it mean for him? The result, according to interviews with more than two dozen current and former administration officials and others in contact with the White House, was a lose-lose situation. Mr. Trump not only ended up soundly defeated by Joseph R. Biden Jr., but missed his chance to show that he could rise to the moment in the final chapter of his presidency and meet the defining challenge of his tenure.
Trump’s Focus as the Pandemic Raged: What Would It Mean for Him? excerpt: "But Mr. Trump’s unwillingness to put aside his political self-centeredness as Americans died by the thousands each day or to embrace the steps necessary to deal with the crisis remains confounding even to some administration officials. “Making masks a culture war issue was the dumbest thing imaginable,” one former senior adviser said."
Facts won't fix this: experts on how to fight America's disinformation crisis distorted illustration of covid vaccine, protests, and white house Trump’s false claims about the election and coronavirus are taking a dangerous toll. Can the divide be healed? Lois Beckett Fri 1 Jan 2021 01.00 EST Last modified on Fri 1 Jan 2021 05. Facts won't fix this: experts on how to fight America's disinformation crisis excerpt: "America’s current disinformation crisis is the culmination of more than two decades of pollution of the country’s information ecosystem, Wardle said. The spread of disinformation on social media is one part of that story, but so is the rise of alternative rightwing media outlets, the lack of investment in public media, the demise of local news outlets, and the replacement of shuttered local newspapers with hyper-partisan online outlets. This “serious fragmentation” of the American media ecosystem presents a stark contrast with, say, the UK, where during some weeks of the pandemic, 94% of the UK adult population, including 86% of younger people, tuned into the BBC, a publicly funded broadcaster, according to official statistics."
Facts won't fix this: experts on how to fight America's disinformation crisis excerpt: "Research has also shown that disinformation and conspiracy theories are often deeply intertwined with racial prejudice and hatred, he added. Some of this year’s most dangerous disinformation, about the seriousness of coronavirus pandemic, which disproportionately killed black Americans, and about Trump supposedly winning the election, based on the argument that votes in majority-black cities were fraudulent and should not be counted, were clearly influenced by white Americans’ racial views, he noted. It’s no accident, Freelon said, that some of the same people suggesting Covid is a myth are also arguing that black votes are illegitimate."
With Trump’s ever-diminishing circle of trusted aides, it was inevitable he would turn against his own family after his failed re-election bid.
DeSantis Flack Who Posted Gross COVID Comment Resigns, Heads to Education Department Rachel Olding Breaking News Editor Published Dec. 31, 2020 12:43PM ET DeSantis Flack Who Posted Gross COVID Comment Resigns excerpt: "Fred Piccolo, a spokesman for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, has resigned after penning a heavily criticized Twitter post that made light of 20,000 coronavirus deaths in Florida. Piccolo deleted his Twitter account after writing the heartless Christmas Eve post, which said: “I’m wondering since 99% [of] Covid patients survive shouldn’t you have 99 photos of survivors for every one fatality? Otherwise you’re just trying to create a narrative that is not reality.” On Thursday, he claimed he’d planned his resignation before the tweet furore, and was moving back to the state Department of Education. That defense may sound familiar. When Piccolo deleted his Twitter account, he claimed he’d already been planning to do so."
Trump still thinks he's going to win. Around midnight on New Year's, Trump posted an OAN video entitled "President Trump's Road To Victory." Although it seems fresh to OAN and Trump, the content is dated. It mentions trying to flip at least three battleground states to make him the winner. It summarized various other tactics, nearly all of which have already failed in the eight weeks since the election. A last-ditch tactic mentioned by OAN is Congress selecting the president on January 6, which isn't going to occur because Democrats control the House. It will be one last hoorah for Trump where Republicans praise him and vote (unsuccessfully) to overturn the legitimate election.
Trump's dictator-style speech to his fans from the balcony of the White House was similar to his joyride at the hospital in front of his fans. Trump’s Focus as the Pandemic Raged: What Would It Mean for Him? excerpt: "When Mr. Trump returned from the hospital, his communications aides, with the help of Ivanka Trump, his daughter, urged him to deliver a national address in which he would say: “I had it. It was tough, it kicked my ass, but we’re going to get through it.” He refused, choosing instead to address a boisterous campaign rally for himself from the balcony of the White House overlooking the South Lawn."
He is spouting hot air, and looking for research grants, because any damned fool who has the slightest bit of sense, will tell him flat out that nobody is listening. Academics have known for over 40 years that a quarter of Americans still insist the sun revolves around the earth, and nobody is fucking listening to a word they say. You would think somebody, somewhere, would point out that nobody is listening to them, but I've been booted off every academic website imaginable, and don't believe for a second that they are even listening to themselves. The assholes are merely representing money, fighting over who controls the mass media and internet. Americans would much rather debate the definition of stupid, than admit nobody is listening to them, which is why I must write the book that can never be written, because the lies are becoming entirely unsustainable as our technology continues to improve.
Because Sheldon Addlesohn told him to do it the same as pardoning Sholomo Rubashkin and the others. Big Sheldon wanted him to move the embassy to Jerusalem and recognize new Israeli borders by taking the West Bank and Golan Heights, Both recognized by the UN as lands belonging to others.
Because he identifies with all those he pardoned. Sleazebag criminals like himself and in the case of the military murderers---more than likely wishes he had the power to extinguish his enemies.
