In our constitution the founding fathers --the framers of our constitution--wrote in that document that congress --our federal government-- reserved the power to deal with the native tribes. The states were allowed to deal with local internal matters within their own borders. The founding fathers considered the native tribes to be foreign nations. So, they regarded the relationship to be similar to dealing with another country. The founding fathers were slave owners and killers of natives. Andrew Jackson was the one who enacted the Indian Removal Act. George Washington sent General Mad Anthony Wayne to Indiana to fight the Miami, Huron, and Delaware tribes which had encampments around the Saint Joseph, Maumee, and Saint Mary's rivers. The Delawares had moved to the homelands of the Miami after being evicted from the east coast. At Gnadenhutten in Ohio they were murdered and burned alive by whites. So the ones who had escaped had come to Indiana --which is a German word for "Indians"-- and they like the Hurons camped along the Saint Joe river near what is now Cedarville Indiana. Chief Little Turtle the leader of the Miami got his forces together and attacked the white men's fort near the confluence of the three rivers and again at the Battle of Fallen Timbers. That was the very first defeat dealt out to the Army of the United States. That was how Fort Wayne Indiana got its name. So, yes were understand OUR constitution and understand that it can be amended. Personally, I am looking forward to the day we amend the constitution so that southern confederates who think they can overturn our election could be denied the right to vote, the right keep and bear arms, and maybe even stripped of their citizenship.

There I think they should be punished severely unless the recite the proper passages from their re-education booklet.
