Trump stays on sidelines as vaccine injections begin

    excerpt:

"Trump himself has tried to minimize any credit that might go to his successor, President-elect Joe Biden, who will preside over the bulk of the nationwide injection campaign next year.

“Don’t let Joe Biden take credit for the vaccines,” Trump has told reporters. “Don’t let him take credit for the vaccines because the vaccines were me, and I pushed people harder than they’ve ever been pushed before.”

Despite Trump's claims, FDA scientists were the ones who came up with the idea for Operation Warp Speed, the White House-backed effort through which millions of doses of coronavirus vaccines and treatments are being manufactured even as they are still being evaluated. And much of the groundwork for the shots was laid over the past decade, including through research on messenger RNA, or mRNA, used in the vaccines developed by both Pfizer and Moderna. Pfizer developed its vaccine outside Operation Warp Speed but is partnering with the federal government on manufacturing and distribution.

Trump's low-key approach could have an impact on public health. Fauci told NBC News this week that 75% to 85% of the nation needs to be vaccinated to achieve “herd immunity,” making the public education campaign about the vaccine’s safety all the more pressing."

Trump stays on sidelines as vaccine injections begin

    excerpt:

"White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters this week that Trump, who has previously spread misinformation about other vaccines, was trying to send a message about priorities by delaying his own inoculation.

“The president wants to send a parallel message which is, you know, our long-term care facility residents and our front-line workers are paramount in importance," she said.

Gostin disagreed. ”It will be enormously damaging to public trust in the vaccine if President Trump isn’t visibly enthusiastic, including getting his shot on national television,” he argued. “It simply isn’t good enough to have Vice President Pence as a proxy.""

Another wave could precipitate from the White House Christmas party. 900 people including foreign dignitaries were invited. Fortunately, only 70 responded.

Trump Rescinds Plan for White House Staff to Be Quickly Vaccinated

    excerpt:

"There have been multiple outbreaks of the coronavirus at the White House in recent months. Mr. Trump, the first lady and a half-dozen advisers tested positive at the end of September and in early October. Dr. Fauci later called a Rose Garden ceremony to announce Mr. Trump’s choice of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court a “super spreader event.”

A few weeks later, Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff, Marc Short, and a group of other Pence staff members and advisers tested positive.

And a third wave hit the West Wing after the president’s election night party at the White House, where supporters gathered indoors and did not wear masks. Mark Meadows, the White House chief of staff, got sick around that time, as did a number of other Trump advisers.

Most recently, Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani tested positive, along with Jenna Ellis, another lawyer on the president’s legal team."

    Trump’s New Brand Is Loser

    except:

"Is any of this really serving Trump well? I know we’ve got used to thinking of Trump as a genius in turning bad news on its head, in creating grievance out of setbacks and then using those grievances to further cement his hold over his Party. I’ve watched him run this play over and over again. I get it. But the alternate way of looking at his post-election behavior is that he is cementing his reputation as the sorest of sore losers. Not only that, but he is crying so long and loudly about the unfairness of his loss that he is forcing officials at every level of government, across the country, to take sides—against him. His frenetic efforts to deny his defeat have simply underscored it. Trump really is leaving office on January 20th, and he really will go out as an impeached and defeated President, forevermore listed in the history books alongside Herbert Hoover and Jimmy Carter and all the other one-termers he disdains. He is now, and will always be, a loser."

Outgoing congressman cracks open beer on House floor after condemning partisanship in final speech
But Joe Cunningham did not take a sip as it is banned on the floor

Outgoing congressman cracks open beer on House floor after condemning partisanship in final speech

    excerpt:

“In my short tenure, I’ve been disappointed with a lot that I’ve encountered,” said Mr Cunningham.

“I’ve seen members mock the president behind his back, and praise him to his face. Loathe him in private, and worship him on television.”

He also took a shot at GOP politicians who are more interested in keeping their seats than working for their constituents.

“I’ve seen them intentionally spread misinformation and lies, flirt with white supremacists, and pander to the most extreme voices in our society,” he added.

“And it’s been for one reason and one reason alone: self-preservation. People more interested in protecting themselves and their party than protecting our country.”

MAGA leaders call for the troops to keep Trump in office
A growing call to invoke the Insurrection Act shows how hard-edged MAGA ideology has become in the wake of Trump’s election loss.

MAGA leaders call for the troops to keep Trump in office

    excerpt:

"Only once, however, has it been used in the wake of an election — and that was to stop a literal militia from seizing the Louisiana government on behalf of John McEnery, a former Confederate office who had lost the 1872 governor’s race.

Nonetheless, in the minds of some authoritarian-leaning and conspiracy-minded Trump supporters, the Insurrection Act has become a needed step to prevent President-elect Joe Biden from assuming the presidency. Their evidence-deficient reasoning: Democrats illegally rigged the election and are attempting a coup, and Trump must send in the troops to undo this conspiracy."

A militia trying to overthrow a valid election in the name of a Confederate loser sounds like Trump and his supporters.

Trump is insinuating to do the opposite of protecting a valid election for others. He's trying to use executive authority to overturn it for himself.

A charity auction to win the opportunity to be the one who pushes the button to demolish Trump's former casino.

It's a timely event considering the American voters pushed the button to demolish Trump's presidency.

Atlantic City to auction off demolition of former Trump casino

    excerpt:

"The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City went bankrupt and shut in 2014. Now, the city is auctioning off the chance to dynamite it for charity.

The property was one of three Trump-branded casinos that once formed the centrepiece of the world-famous resort city nicknamed "America's playground".

But as revenues plummeted, Mr Trump cut his losses and his ties with the city.

City officials have called several times for the idle building to be torn down after chunks of the crumbling landmark repeatedly broke off and fell onto surrounding streets.

A bidding process that began on Thursday will determine who gets the right to count down and hit the button that will raze the 39-floor casino.

Proceeds from the auction will fund the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club of America, a youth development organisation."

The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff has already apologized for taking part in last summer's photo-op with President Trump, and his
participation in the aftermath, as he's seen inspecting the troops in clear violation of the posse comitatus act.

He was embarrassed and humiliated by trump and it won't happen again.

So Trump will simply have to rely on various right-wing factions like the boogaloo bois, the wolverine watchmen, and the Oath keepers,
along with various militia groups, and several thousand fucked up South Floridian Cuban Americans still living back in the 1960s ...lol..

Flynn is again suggesting that Trump use military capabilities to redo the election in swing states that he lost.

Flynn suggests Trump deploy the military in 'swing states' to 'rerun' the election, soft-pedals martial law

    excerpt:

"Nothing to see here," Slate's Will Saletan tweeted. "Just a retired general and former undeclared foreign agent for an authoritarian regime, freshly pardoned by the president for lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia, asserting precedents for martial law to overturn the president's electoral defeat."

Former President Barack Obama fired Flynn as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, then "tried to warn Trump about him," New York Times reporter Maggie Haberbman noted. "Trump hired him, fired him, complained about him and his son during transition, and then has obviously changed course." The Bulwark's Tim Miller added: "Michael Flynn lying to the FBI was the biggest break the nation caught during the Trump years. The thought of the insane mad man in the room when Trump was making decisions is frightening."

SCOTUS punts on Trump bid to exclude undocumented immigrants from key Census count
The court ruled by a 6-3 vote.

SCOTUS punts on Trump bid to exclude undocumented immigrants from key Census count

    excerpt:

"The United States Supreme Court on Friday, by a vote of 6-3, said an effort to block President Donald Trump from excluding undocumented immigrants from a key Census count was "premature," effectively allowing the administration to move forward with its plans even as the justices left the door open to future challenges.

By subtracting millions of immigrants from the Census total, Trump hopes to shape the apportionment of congressional seats, the allocation of billions in federal funds and the contours of the nation's electoral map for at least the next decade. If he succeeds, it would be the first time in 230 years that the process would exclude large swaths of people inside the U.S.

The Court's conservative majority, in an unsigned opinion, said the scope and impact of the president's promised action is not yet clear.

"At present, this case is riddled with contingencies and speculation that impede judicial review," the Court said."
