I also read somewhere that Trump has over 40 lawsuits waiting for him once he leaves the Whitehouse... That will be interesting! I also watched some YouTube reports that says Trump may 'pardon' himself before he leaves office. Anyone clued up know if he can actually do that? Sure, I've heard of presidents pardoning people of their crimes if they believe they have been wronged etc but pardoning himself seems, well, just corrupt! I Donald Trump as president are pardoning myself of all wrong doing. Thank you very much. American democracy is ummm.
Senate Republicans urge Trump to keep Gina Haspel atop CIA excerpt: "Haspel, a career intelligence officer, was confirmed by the Senate two and a half years ago with bipartisan support. But Trump has soured on Haspel lately, according to sources familiar with the matter, because she has opposed the declassification of documents related to the 2016-era Russia investigation. One document in particular that Haspel opposed disclosing was a memo that detailed an unverified Russian intelligence assessment that Hillary Clinton signed off on a plan to tie Trump to the hacking of the Democratic National Committee in 2016. POLITICO previously reported that the Senate Intelligence Committee immediately rejected the veracity of the information once learning of it. In addition to Haspel, Trump is reportedly considering firing FBI Director Christopher Wray, who the president and his allies think has been uncooperative in an effort by Senate Republicans and other investigative bodies to examine the Russia probe."
Trump's TikTok saga is symbolic of his behavior. He is fond of creating a big stink about an issue that he tries to portray to the public as more important than it really is. Later, he becomes bored with it and moves on to another culture-war type of battle that he concocts to try to gratify his ego again by pretending he won. Trump blew up Tiktok and now nobody knows what's going on - CNN
Brian Jack and Healy Baumgardner have tested positive for the coronavirus. Both attended Trump's election night party at the White House. Two more people from Trump's Election Night party at White House test positive for coronavirus
It would be a De Facto admission of guilt. And usually, a pardon is issued to one who had been convicted of a crime in the first place. Trump is looking like a genuine fool these days.
Trump made a fool of himself when he said he was going to pardon Susan B. Anthony in August 2020. He said he couldn't believe that no other president had tried it yet. He didn't realize that a pardon implied that she was guilty when she had always asserted her innocence. Apparently, it was a ploy of Trump to try to win women voters whose support he had lost during his term.
After that fiasco, Trump moved on to a few more desperate ploys to try to win women voters, such as claiming that he made their dishwasher work better, that he saved their neighborhoods from being overrun by terrorists, and that he would put their husbands back to work.
More fake battles that Trump claims he won, similar to the TikTok saga. Now he can indefinitely fake that he won the 2020 election by contending that the 'true' vote count will never be known.
He's just an idiot who says whatever lie that's in his head at that point that he thinks would make himself sound good (with nothing to back it up or has any intention of proving it). Scary thing is nearly half of all Americans actually believe what he says or understands he is lying but doesn't care! Frightening.
Trump’s Post-Election Tactics Put Him in Unsavory Company excerpt: "MOSCOW — When the strongman ruler of Belarus declared an implausible landslide victory in an election in August, and had himself sworn in for a sixth term as president, the United States and other Western nations denounced what they said was brazen defiance of the voters’ will. President Aleksandr G. Lukashenko’s victory, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said last month, was “fraud.” Mr. Pompeo added: “We’ve opposed the fact that he’s now inaugurated himself. We know what the people of Belarus want. They want something different.” Just a month on, Mr. Pompeo’s boss, President Trump, is now borrowing from Mr. Lukashenko’s playbook, joining a club of truculent leaders who, regardless of what voters decide, declare themselves the winners of elections. That club counts as its members far more dictators, tyrants and potentates than leaders of what used to be known as the “free world” — countries that, led by Washington, have for decades lectured others on the need to hold elections and respect the result."
Trump is as two-faced as Pompeo. Trump’s Post-Election Tactics Put Him in Unsavory Company excerpt: "And in January 2019, Mr. Trump recognized Venezuela’s chief opposition leader and congressional speaker, Juan Guaidó, as the country’s legitimate leader, another major blow to Mr. Maduro. Dozens of America’s European and Latin American allies followed suit within days. Mr. Trump condemned Mr. Maduro’s “usurpation of power” and said that all options, including military intervention, were on the table to remove Mr. Maduro from office and install Mr. Guaidó to the presidency. Now, Mr. Trump is also refusing to accept the election results. Temir Porras, a former minister in the Venezuelan government who has since left Mr. Maduro’s party, said Mr. Trump’s refusal to recognize the U.S. vote “delegitimizes” America’s role as an international arbiter of democracy."
Frankly, I'm beginning to believe that the republican party should soon be declared to be illegal like the nazis are in Germany. Reason being : they are acting as un American as a group of politicians can possibly act. It has become obvious that they care nothing about democracy, only staying in power to serve themselves and the money machine that sustains them. Outright lying, hiring people who are known to hold disdain for offices that they are clearly not qualified for, cheating every chance they get on any subject.etc.etc. There is an attempted coup de tat occurring as we live and breath, before our very eyes. What else could this be? Let reasonable people ask: How did this "man"get 70 million votes for the office of president of the United States of America? Perplexing isn't it. At least to those that have some semblance of honor and decency as to how humans might comport themselves in life, of which politics is surely an important part in the life of a democracy. Yes? No?
1,478 U.S. deaths on Nov 11 from the coronavirus that Trump and McEnany (both to become infected later) initially said wouldn't affect the U.S., then would be gone by Easter Sunday, then by summer, then by autumn, and lastly that it didn't matter at all because, after more than 200,000 U.S. deaths, Trump said (at a rally in Ohio which he later won by 8%) that the virus affects virtually nobody.
Trump rails against ‘medical deep state’ after Pfizer vaccine news comes after Election Day President Trump is lashing out at the Food and Drug Administration following a disclosure Monday that an experimental coronavirus vaccine from pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is more than 90 percent effective, convinced the timing — six days after Election Day — proves the “medical deep state” deliberately tried to sabotage his electoral prospects by delaying the results. Shortly after Trump heard the news Monday, he demanded Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar “get to the bottom” of what happened with Pfizer, according to a senior White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the president’s actions. A few hours later, the issue was front and center at a meeting of the White House coronavirus task force when FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn briefed members about the vaccine data.
Opinion: The Watergate-era strategies that might win Trump a pardon. Maybe. - CNN excerpt: "If Lawton's suggestion were to be applied to the current situation, President Trump would submit to the President Pro Tempore of the Senate a written notice of his inability to discharge the duties of the presidency. This would immediately allow Vice President Mike Pence to become acting president. Pence could then pardon Trump and whomever else Trump did not want to pardon personally. Trump could then resume the presidency or allow Pence to continue in office until the Inauguration of President Biden on January 20, 2021. It may seem crazy, or perhaps suspicious, for the President to formally state that he is unfit for duty without a tangible reason, but according to the wording of the 25th Amendment, the President merely has to say in writing he is "unable to discharge the duties and powers of his office." No medical exam and no reason needs to be given. Maybe Trump will be so distraught about the possibility of being indicted that he is legitimately too preoccupied to serve as president. Or perhaps he will simply want to claim inability to lead so that Pence may step in and pardon him. Either way, strange as it may seem, this strategy is constitutionally within bounds."
