It is starting to add up in the Midwest. I went to take my car in for an oil change and the dealership was empty … barren. There was the service writer, one parts man, two mechanics, and one cashier. I have a new Jap car and went to the dealership! Not a single sales manor manager there! Our grocer is using the clear se-through shields at the cash register. They have all the doors locked except for the main entry. Gas is down to $1.36/gallon. There is nothing going on in town.
"You mean it didn't come from them Chinamen?" Flagme15 post 22022 (sarcasm!) Shuckins' cooter -ya'll jist cain't let up kin ya? R Prezdint is tron to keep 'em air communist librals from draggin' R country day-yown. Weez ain't got no worser thang to worry 'bout 'en 'em air stoopid communist librals. Cuzza 'em we done loust r jobs. R Prezdint is fixin' ta brang 'em all back. Ah don't bleeve all 'em libral news stytions - thaze jist tron-a fool us - but weez ain't never that stoopid. We seen rat through 'em. This is the kind of "educated" language heard when cameras record folks at Trump rallies. Some of the things I've heard people say are beyond mind-boggling. When people on the street can't name how many states are in the U.S., or who the last president was ( or even who the very first president was ), or which state is an island ( to which many people answer Rhode Island ), or how many branches of our federal government there are, or what document set the outline for our U.S. government, or what the last state to join the U.S. was - we're in deep sh*t. And these people vote!!! Very easily BS-ed because it's a struggle and it takes reading and study to know who stands for what. It's easier to just vote for a guy who promises very simple answers to very complex problems. Anyone remember who promised "a chicken in every pot." ??? And the resulting catastrophe? Some of these mental "giants" bought the story of Hillary Clinton running a child prostitution ring from pizza shops around the country. They bought the story of Obama being a non-American and a Muslim terrorist. So it's no small wonder that they believe Trump is going to make their world wonderful and bring back high-paying manufacturing jobs, and all the other sh*t he spews.
Black Americans Are Dying from Coronavirus at Disproportionately Higher Rates EJI 04.09.20 Black Americans Are Dying from Coronavirus at Disproportionately Higher Rates excerpts: "In Louisiana, governor John Bel Edwards said in a press conference on Monday that slightly more than 70% of the 512 people who had died from Covid-19 were African Americans. Black people make up about 33% of the population in Louisiana, which has the fourth largest number of Covid-19 cases in the country. The majority of deaths are in New Orleans. Michigan officials said that African Americans make up 40% of the 845 reported deaths in the state, where the population is 14% black. The state’s cases are most concentrated in Detroit—the death rate in the city accounts for 40% of the state’s fatalities. In Illinois, black people make up 14% of the population but account for 30% of confirmed cases and 41% of deaths statewide. More than half of the state’s deaths have been in Chicago, where mayor Lori Lightfood said on Monday that African Americans made up 72% of the city’s coronavirus deaths despite comprising only about a third of its 2.7 million residents. Wisconsin officials have reported that more than half of the state’s 86 confirmed deaths are in the state’s largest city, Milwaukee. In Milwaukee County, African Americans make up 26% of the population, but about 70% of those who have died from the virus were black." "Officials and public health experts trace these stark disparities to longstanding inequalities that have left more African Americans without health insurance, living in segregated communities that lack adequate health care services, and subject to racial bias in the health care system that prevents them from getting proper treatment. As a result, black Americans have higher rates of underlying medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension, that put them at heightened risk of hospitalization and death from Covid-19."
Trump Has His Sights Set on Black Voters Democrats need to realize that in 2020 nothing is automatic. The president’s campaign has tentacles in many surprising places. By Thomas B. Edsall March 4, 2020 Opinion | Trump Has His Sights Set on Black Voters
Trump’s narcissism is endangering his reelection. His own advisers admit it. By Greg Sargent Opinion writer April 10, 2020 at 10:24 a.m. EDT https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...ing-his-reelection-his-own-advisers-admit-it/ excerpt: "President Trump’s advisers are reportedly deeply worried that his narcissistic daily briefings on coronavirus are hurting his reelection chances. That’s revealing, in that it shows Trump’s unshakable faith in his ability to manipulate the news cycle with his magical reality-bending powers is not shared by his data-focused team. But what’s even more revealing is what those advisers won’t say about these displays. This shows the limits on what constitutes acceptable criticism of Trump among those who have a big stake in his political success. In short: It’s only okay to leak criticism of Trump for things that are perceived to harm him politically in the most superficial of ways, never mind the danger that his failings continue to pose to the country."
Trump appears to be making federal aid to states contingent upon requests made by the Republican polticians that he wants, requests that were originally made by Democratic officials, so that he can prop up his party for 2020 elections. It also imparts a sense into the general public that they better have Republicans in control so that Trump will honor the requests for federal aid. Would Trump turn medical supplies into a patronage system? "Trump is treating life-saving medical equipment as emoluments he can dole out as favors to loyalists," a Denver Post editorial argued. By Steve Benen April 10, 2020, 10:44 AM EDT Would Trump turn medical supplies into a patronage system? excerpts: "Last September, Donald Trump announced that he'd approved an emergency declaration for North Carolina in response to Hurricane Dorian, but the president thought it'd be a good idea to add an electoral twist to the news: Trump said he'd moved forward "at the request of" Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). In reality, North Carolina's Democratic governor, Roy Cooper, had made the federal request, but the president wanted to boost Tillis, who's a GOP incumbent and White House ally facing a tough re-election bid this year. In October, after the storm hit the Tar Heel State, Trump did it again, connecting federal disaster aid directly to Thom Tillis -- as if emergency assistance were somehow part of a White House political patronage system. All of this came to mind this week when the president published a tweet saying the administration was dispatching 100 ventilators to Colorado -- "at the request of" Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), who's facing an uphill climb in his re-election campaign this fall. The political message was hardly subtle: Trump seemed to be signaling that Colorado is receiving medical equipment during a pandemic because of his political connection to a GOP senator." "All of this comes on the heels of Trump admitting that he's urged Vice President Mike Pence not to call Democratic governors who fail to show proper levels of "appreciation" to the White House. It was soon followed by a Washington Post report that raised related concerns about political favoritism."
A political cartoon is needed showing state officials waiting in line who are required to first kiss Trump's rear end before they can pick up their ventilators.
Trump sought a national revival by Easter. Now he has a new Easter message. On Good Friday, Trump participated in an Easter blessing and asked Americans to pray in the fight against “the invisible enemy.” By GABBY ORR 04/10/2020 04:30 AM EDT Updated: 04/10/2020 02:30 PM EDT Trump sought a national revival by Easter. Now he has a new Easter message. excerpts: "In another instance, Trump invited MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell to the White House for a briefing focused on private sector assistance to combat the coronavirus pandemic, but when the time came for Lindell to speak he spent most of his remarks claiming Trump was divinely appointed and telling Americans to read the Bible while self-quarantining." "The actions of officials inside Trump’s orbit have also raised questions about the sincerity of his administration’s religious appeals. The same day Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin warned the country that coronavirus could push the unemployment rate to 20 percent, White House spiritual adviser Paula White published a video of herself asking people to “sow a $91 seed” to her church during what was supposed to be a coronavirus-related prayer session."
Post of a blogger: "What a joke and farce both Trump and Pence have made by using religion in all of this. From someone like Pence who hates gays and lesbians who also started an HIV epidemic in his state of Indiana when he was Governor to Trump married three times, loves to grab pussy, has been accused of rape and sexual assulted, has had children out of wedlock, has had multiple affairs with an adult movie star and Playboy Bunny without using safe sex while his third wife Melania was home taking care of their new born son. Trump who has appeared in multiple soft porn movies and when His daughter Ivanka was in her teens Trump said it was ok to say Ivanka was a good piece of ass. And Pence and Trump want to invoke and portray themselves as religious and to use religion in the mess they made worse? Oh the irony and hypocrisy of it all."
Post 22032 - But if a Democrat or Independent said and did all the things Trump has done, all these muck-mouths who've been his lemmings would be out of their minds with accusations of how "Godless" that person was. They'd be puking blood. Hypocrisy is embedded in U.S. politics. Muck-mouth McConnell said on TV that he and the Repubs were going to block Obama's proposals so as to make him a 1-term President. He said that was their main goal. Then muck-mouth McConnell and his cronies called Obama a "do nothing" president when he got mostly nothing done - except for the ACA, which the Repubs want to eliminate. They set out to handcuff Obama and then accuse him of getting nothing done. Now - with Trump as President - spineless, useless, slimeball, muck-mouth McConnell cries like the infant he is whenever a Dem blocks or opposes a Trump proposal. I guess he doesn't like it when someone hits back or he gets a taste of his own medicine. McConnell has ABSOLUTELY NO INTEGRITY. He's a first rate hypocrite, liar, and cry-baby. Now, muck-mouth McConnel is accusing the Dems of blocking a bill where the Dems are demanding more money in the next stimulus package for hospitals and municipalities dealing with the corona virus pandemic. Trump and the Repubs want the money to go businesses instead. Like always ……….. the Repubs are only about business. Screw the people, screw the hospitals, screw the municipalities. The business community is where most of their campaign donations come from. Look for more HUGE tax relief for businesses and corporations again ……….. courtesy of the Republicans. And as the cherry on top - Trump has fired the independent watchdog that would have overseen the distribution of all these trillions of dollars in economic aid & relief. Now we taxpayers have no way of knowing where that money is going, where it ends up, and whose greedy, filthy hands it lands in. And the Repubs claim to be "for the people"?????????? Are you sh*ttin" me??????????
Like the link says most black people don't like him.No one likes Democrats either and Bidin has a racist past. I could see more hate voting for black people. A good percent of Trump's vote seem to come down to that emotion towards government officials. But a lot of them probably see the difference between the two parties. Democrats are racist to black people according to Republicans because they lie to them about racism. It's actually means you think less of them to say they are too weak to make it. So pretty much anytime you as a black person are told there is racism or you suffer from it well it's probably your mistake because slavery was 2 centuries ago. Republicans are racist to black people according to Democrats because they ignore systematic bias in law enforcement and allow blatant or ignorant forms of racism to exist on the idea that it's not even there and if it is oh well free speech. Traditionally black people have taken a certain side in that and I think that will continue to be the case. Trump has taken a side and many of his voters have as well. The one or two token black people at his rallies are often mentioned to disprove his racism. People can be paid and isn't that the very definition of identity politics? Like all that matters is your race and it's super important to make that part of who we are as a platform. You are not just a trump voter you are a black Trump voter. I thought Republicans already had most of the black vote anyway? Only welfare queens vote Democrat and in the all inclusive GOP we assume a brothers got a job.
Can Trump reopen the economy on May 1? Not really By Noah Bierman, Eli Stokols, Chris Megerian April 10, 2020 3:33 PM Can Trump reopen the economy on May 1? Not really excerpt: "“I’m going to have to make a decision, and I hope to God it’s the right decision,” Trump said Friday. “I would say without question it’s the biggest decision I’ve ever had to make.” Asked what metrics he would use in deciding, Trump pointed to his head. Trump also said he would probably include governors from both parties in a council to advise him on the issue and hinted that California Gov. Gavin Newsom may be among them. The president wields tremendous influence over the national response to the pandemic, and many local and state leaders, especially fellow Republicans, would weigh his advisories heavily in deciding their own policy. Although Trump asserted Friday that he has “absolute authority” to order the country open, the guidelines are not mandatory, but recommendations. Governors, mayors and business owners have the ultimate power. Many issued their own guidance before Trump did and some already have announced plans to restrict commerce and public gatherings beyond May 1 no matter what Trump recommends."
In his Friday briefing, this is what he is now saying, referring to what he calls his 'absolute authority'. Can Trump reopen the economy on May 1? Not really excerpt: "Although Trump asserted Friday that he has “absolute authority” to order the country open, the guidelines are not mandatory, but recommendations."
Ukrainian Giuliani ally hires ex-lawmaker to lobby Trump administration The ex-lawmaker is a business partner of Erik Prince. By BETSY WOODRUFF SWAN 04/10/2020 08:23 PM EDT Ukrainian Giuliani ally hires ex-lawmaker to lobby Trump administration excerpt: "A Ukrainian associate of Rudy Giuliani has hired a business partner of Erik Prince to lobby Washington on his behalf regarding “corruption,” according to public records and interviews. The move became public on the Justice Department's lobbying registry the same day that Joe Biden became the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee. The business partner, former Ukrainian parliamentarian Andrii Artemenko, is registered to lobby using a different name. He's also in the transportation and logistics business with Prince, and the two have been very busy because the coronavirus pandemic has snarled air travel around the world, Artemenko told POLITICO."
White House Attacks Voice Of America Over China Coronavirus Coverage David Folkenflik April 10, 20206:14 PM ET White House Attacks Voice Of America Over China Coronavirus Coverage excerpt: "The Voice of America defended itself Friday against accusations by the Trump White House that the news service is uncritically relaying Chinese propaganda about that country's effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. "VOA too often speaks for America's adversaries—not its citizens," The White House charged in an official statement released Thursday. "Journalists should report the facts, but VOA has instead amplified Beijing's propaganda." (Boldface reflects the original statement.) The remark was notable even from an administration that misses few opportunities to attack news organizations for reporting that reflects poorly upon the president. The statement was released under the headline, "Voice of America spends your money to speak for authoritarian regimes." It attacked VOA for, among other things, a tweet showing a video of a light show against the Wuhan skyline. The show celebrated the end of the lockdown in that city, where the coronavirus first truly took flight."
