Not the best way to win public sentiment.
Like I said, whatever I've been hearing out here is that the natives are restless.
The feeling is that if a person is not sick, a relative is not sick, and they don't know anyone who is sick, they don't take it seriously.
Note: not my beliefs, just what I am observing, and hearing.

 

Our state government hasn't taken action, but several local mayors including mine have--very similar to Pennsylvania's. Even my MAGA hatted buddies, who usually meet over at my house every week have agreed to meet outside at a safe distance from one another, bring their own refreshments, and bow instead of the usual hugs and handshakes!

 

Trump hasn't consulted past presidents. He has insulted past presidents.

In his mind, only Trump can fix the coronavirus problem.

“All military personnel who are medically trained should be sent to places where this crisis is deep, like New York, right now,” de Blasio said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press.”"

The strain of viewing Trump's self-inflicted plight with the coronavirus is showing up on various blogs and forums. Trump adherents never seen before are surfacing and trolling various venues, like a virus that was dormant for years and suddenly came out of the woodwork.

Trump initiated a similar phenomenon himself when he conjured up the bigotry in the U.S. that had been dormant for decades and that people had hoped would remain buried in the past for the good of the society.

 

Trump has taken the time to consult with the dictator of N. Korea about the coronavirus.

 

Trump praised Rand Paul after being told he tested positive for the coronavirus.

Trump made a smart alec remark about Romney when he was told Romney was in isolation.

Donald Trump criticised the media and governors leading their states’ coronavirus efforts after the governor of Illinois said the lapsed federal government response has forced states to compete for badly needed medical supplies and other resources.

Governor JB Pritzker told CNN on Sunday that there “should have been a coordinated effort by the federal government” to help cash-strapped states obtain personal protective equipment like respirators and other health workers’ supplies. The president has also been criticised for wavering on an emergency mandate that would force companies to begin manufacturing those supplies.

The president said the governor and “fake news” shouldn’t blame the federal government “for their own shortcomings”.

He said: “We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!”

Governor Pritzker fired back at the president: “You wasted precious months when you could’ve taken action to protect Americans [and] Illinoisans. You should be leading a national response instead of throwing tantrums from the back seat. Where were the tests when we needed them? Where’s the [personal protective equipment]? Get off Twitter [and] do your job.”

The president has lashed out at other Democratic governors who have demanded a stronger federal response. He called Michigan‘s governor Gretchen Whitmer “the failing Michigan governor” last week.

Illinois has reported 753 confirmed coronavirus cases, including at least six deaths, as of Sunday.

The state is now one of six to have issued a statewide “stay-at-home” order to help contain the spread.

Governor Pritzker told CNN: “These should have been done nationally ... I’ve got to protect the 1.7m who live in my state.”

He said that unless more Americans are told to “stay at home and to stop interacting in the way that they were, we’re going to see thousands or tens of thousands more deaths than we otherwise would”.

The state — which includes the Chicago metropolitan area, containing 2.7m people — did not postpone its Democratic primary election on 17 March, as thousands of people congregated at the polls.

The fact that Trump for the first time in 3 years broke the 47% mark is primarily due to Americans rallying around the President during a crisis, even if the President in question is a fuck up.

 

And the financial emergency will last until after November

I actually think if they try to enforce these lockdowns too long countries will get torn apart

If they only last a couple more weeks, once the dust settles, there will be intense anal probing on what just happened and pretty much every government in the world currently in office will get the boot next election

While the Trump Trolls and FOX news is miss-directing the attention of the American people during this Coronvirus crisis, Trump and his top administrative crooks are busy at work. McConnell and Munutchin have come up with a plan to use the stimulus package which is intended to help lower income Americans … as a cover-up for corporate handouts. Trump and his cronies want to give $500,000.000.00 in free -with no accountability- handouts to corporation. They don't even demand that these corporations keep workers on their payroll and working. They don't have to take workers back after a furlough. It's just free money for business men. It is really no different that when Bush Junior gave all the big bankers and investment giants all that money which ended up as annual bonuses back in 2007/08. The Democrats have called him out on this "make the rich richer scheme" right along with the fact that his NSC made it clear to everyone that Coronavirus was coming down the pike. Instead of taking appropriate action to help and protect the American people, the Republicans started selling millions of dollars worth of stock, while still high.

A more alarming scam behind the scene has just germinated in the Trump White House. Trump and AG William Barr have just asked Congress and the Courts to give them authority to arrest and hold any person -American or none American- indefinitely. That means Trump does not want the arrested person to have a lawyer or a day in court, and certainly no speedy trial as required by our constitution. It would be an executive power similar to that of Mohammad Ben Salman, Kim Jong UN, or Vlad. Putin. Under cover of Coronavirus emergency powers, Trump wants to round up all persons he does not like, all political enemies, and maybe all candidates campaigning against him? This might shock someone like George Orwell, or even George Washington.

“Our ruling class and their TV mouthpieces whipping up fear over this virus, they can afford an indefinite shutdown. Working Americans can’t, they’ll be crushed by it. You know that famous phrase, ‘The cure is worse than the disease?’ That is exactly the territory we are hurting towards.”

“Poverty kills. Despair kills. This shutdown is deadly,” Hilton said. He then urged Trump to reassess the plan within 15 days. After that, it would be time to stop the shutdown while keeping in place bans on large gatherings and measures to protect the elderly."
