While market sinks, Trump tweets on Obama, 'fake news' and the Dem primary Trump fired off more than two dozen tweets and retweets but was silent on coronavirus until a Wall Street nosedive halted trading. By CAITLIN OPRYSKO 03/09/2020 11:39 AM EDT Updated: 03/09/2020 03:16 PM EDT While market sinks, Trump tweets on Obama, 'fake news' and the Dem primary excerpts: "As stocks plummeted and concern spread about the growing coronavirus global health crisis, President Donald Trump began his week at his seaside resort in Florida with online screeds about fake news, Barack Obama and the Democratic primary. The president fired off more than two dozen tweets and retweets Monday morning but was silent on the coronavirus-caused economic turmoil until an early Wall Street nosedive triggered an emergency “circuit breaker” to temporarily halt trading within minutes of the opening bell. Trump dismissed the drop as mostly the fault of an oil dispute between Saudi Arabia and Russia." "But in between comments on the economy and coronavirus, Trump fell back on a smattering of familiar attacks, accusing his predecessor, without evidence, of having the “most corrupt Administration in the history of our Country” and complaining about what he said were “very bad, sick people” trying to undermine him from within the government."
The CPAC conference isn't as funny as it was before. Coronavirus hits Capitol Hill as 2 GOP lawmakers ‘self-quarantine’ Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar interacted with the same infected person at the recent CPAC conference. that's what the market is designed to do. when it's low you buy , when it's high you sell, and make your profit
So.... Everything is somehow Obama's fault. “most corrupt Administration in the history of our Country” Yeah... Not Obama.
Stock market news live: Oil crashes, stocks crater on coronavirus, crude war fears Javier E. David and Emily McCormick Yahoo Finance March 9, 2020, 4:06 PM EDT Stock market news live: Oil crashes, stocks crater on coronavirus, crude war fears excerpt: "The world’s faltering effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak led to a rout in stocks and crude oil on Monday, as new cases surfacing across the globe amplified fears of a downturn. Each of the three major indices dropped more than 7% by market close, with the Dow shedding more than 2,000 points. The decline marked the largest one-day point loss for the Dow on record, and the largest single-session percentage hit since 2008. The S&P 500’s more than 7% drop was also the most since December 2008, led by stunning declines in the Energy and Financial sectors."
Trump is frustrated about an oil dispute between Russian and Saudi Arabia because it's having a negative effect on the markets. Trump has started a plethora of such disputes with his trade wars and sanctions.
It might drop another half dollar. Crude dropped down to $32.11 per barrel. It's below $2 here in some places in Indiana. When it was $2:12 a few days ago I used my Kroger points and filled up for $1:27 per gallon. With the exception of Chicago it would be cheap all the way west to Wyoming. Oklahoma and Texas are usually cheap. If crude remains down in the $30 range, we might have $1:25 gas again. I know people in Cheyenne and it is always cheap there.
That don't show prices for where I was in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas , Oklahoma. You must be giving east coast prices, maybe for the New Jersey turnpike?
Economic recession- your neighbor loses his job Economic depression- you lose your job. Economic recovery- trump loses his job.
Looking at social media, it doesn’t surprise me that there are so many on the left celebrating the tanking stock market, and are hoping for a recession or depression. They are either elitist limousine liberals who are so rich they won’t feel the impact. Or they are living on the dole and will get their handouts anyway. As usual, it’s the average guy who gets screwed
Meh, they will rally behind the President in times of a perceived crisis. In the meantime Dems are still more scared of the Sanders virus than the corona virus
It's encouraging to see you both still more preoccupied with proving Trump wrong in your own minds than reality, common sense, and you know, the humanity of the current situation
Trump said he didn't know people died of the flu. His grandfather did, according to a Trump biographer. By Chandelis Duster and Kelly Mena, CNN Updated 12:16 PM ET, Mon March 9, 2020 President Trump said he didn't know people died of the flu. His grandfather did, according to a Trump biographer. - CNNPolitics excerpt: "There have been reports that the President is a "germaphobe." How do you think he's handling the coronavirus? To date, he seems to be handling it the same way he handled everything else in his career, which was, insist he's right. If there are accusations, throw them back at whoever made the accusation. Double down whenever some new piece of evidence, information comes in to say even more forcefully that he was right. To look for ways to promote his own candidacy. There's a pattern of how he behaves -- I believe the country has come to be very familiar with. But the coronavirus isn't a person. ... This isn't a rival or competitor, but it's being treated that way by Trump. And everything that I can see suggests that is a really bad strategy for dealing with an epidemic. Maybe it works politically, but an epidemic is a disease; it's not a political rival."
Saudis under cutting the oil price to attack US shale will only work if its long term, given thats their main source of income, meh May work against Russia, but Im perplexed as the why the virus hasnt spread in Russia like elsewhere
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has not been tested for the coronavirus, the White House said on Monday, though at least two lawmakers with whom he has recently come into contact have announced they were self-quarantining after attending a conference with a person who had tested positive for the virus. OK, Thanks
