See what you've done now with your beautiful pictures, TwoDogs??? LOL ... just kidding. Wiseman, I wholeheartedly invite you to visit the beautiful Sonoran desert, where I live. You just might discover that it finds its way into your soul too, like it has so many of us
Caliente, I see that you're from Tucson. My old stomping grounds in '79 and '80. I said my final farewell to Tucson when I hitchhiked to Las Cruces, N.M. with a leg broken in two places and my collarbone broken after falling from a cliff above Sabino Canyon. Fell 75 feet, bounced once, and then fell another 75 feet. I learned a valuable lesson about drinking Jack Daniels and trying to navigate mountain trails that day.
Well, as they say, don't do that! You're pretty lucky you lived. What were you doing up there, anyway? Looking at the naked women along the creek? If you haven't been to Tucson since 1980, you might not recognize Sabino Canyon. There are trams and stuff now. The canyon is still beautiful though
Haha. Thanks for the invite. I don't really know what I'd do once I got there though. Probably die of heat stroke. I wouldn't really have much luck trying to survive.
lol ... yeah, you probably don't want to come in July or August. It's lovely around February, though.
Yeah. That's probably true. It's hot enough up here in Michigan. But I wouldn't really have anywhere to stay once I got down there. So that'd kinda stink. :/
What actually saved my neck from being broken was that I had a bedroll slung from a strap across my back diagonally. Mountain Rescue had to haul me up the cliff in a Stokes litter and take me to Tucson Medical Center. When they found out that I didn't have any insurance they wouldn't even X-ray my leg...said that it wasn't broken...just contusions. By the time I got to Las Cruces, after walking miles and miles, the broken ends of the fibula and tibia were jammed together and the doctor didn't want to rebreak and reset the bones. GEEZE!!! This is the first time I've ever talked to you and you already know me! Trams? Wow...things have changed.
