No, my point was about shoes and feet. the steel toe protects the foot. The awareness of where you,are and what kind of conditions you face, indicate the protections you need.
...eerrrr...your point about shoes and protection is taken, but does not fly on this topic.. Shoes fit for a gym, are light weigted and without heel elevation. Heck, squat is even advised to do on socks or bare feet. Please stay on topic, in your case, 'barefoot or steel toes in a construction yard'
The dangers aren't in the gym. the dangers are to you. If you want to talk about dangers of the gym, you talk a bout the environment not your feet. thanks for your time.
If the place has rules, respect them or find another place. From what I have read of this whole forum it seems like "barefooters" are literally going around seeking places where they can claim victim status. We didn't allow anyone to run around barefoot on the ship when I was a sailor because of the constant threat of metal fragments AND the spread of foot fungus. Those may seem like minor issues to some, but to the Navy it was yet another issue that would reduce the efficiency of the ship. We did all we could to keep the place clean and hazard free, but a naval ship is designed for everything BUT comfort. I realize this hurts some feelings, but it really does seem like many of the barefoot protagonists are absolutely unconcerned about the feelings of others. Then wonder why nobody likes them. A hint, it's because you don't give a crap about anyone but yourselves. Nobody likes people like that. I wish I could wear a codpiece in public, but I don't because most of modern society would be disgusted by it. At some point you have to learn to exist where you are, until you can afford to exist in the sort of personal utopia you want. However, you can thank the American system for the freedom to get as far as you have with this issue. But I'm pretty sure the shoe industry has little to fear. My Giorgio Brutini's are FABULOUS!
Rules are rules. When I don't follow them, I expect to be thrown out. This has happened in bars, restaurants and a couple of hotels. I never claimed to be a saint.
