I love this book... I read it twice; once for class, once for pleasure. I know there are A LOT of people in uproar about this book- about how this isn't true and that isn't true. It's a NOVEL and that's the best way to look at it when you read it. It's a work of fiction and it should be read that way. Like I told my mom, read it as a novel- a work of fiction- and you'll enjoy it much more than if you look for the untruths. I think this is a must read for everyone!!
i read the book about 2 weeks ago, and i loved it! I really couldn't put it down once I started it. Everyone is different in terms of opinions... But I really enjoyed it
It is a very notable work of plagiarism, but of little else merit to anyone, apart from those who tend to read one or two books a year, from the best-seller shelf.
I am going to start reading this book in a week or so. I just purchased it this evening. The paperback must have just been released, which is what I've been waiting for. You can't beat the price of Paperbacks~
I liked the plot and the concepts it was based on, but hated the writing. It had phrases like "The words he read hit him like a punch in the gut". Oh so very cliche.
Good point. When I first read this book I overlooked these irritations because the story was very interesting. The plot revolves at an amazing pace, but my overall impression is that it could have been written much better.
Yeah, the writing style was horribly cliche, but it's alright because of the audience the book is trying to reach (everyone) and the actual story behind the book is good. I got pretty disappointed, though, after like the thousandth time that he used the single-line paragraph to express some kind of dramatic thing... Sigh. Decent book though, it definetly kept me interested and staying up late to finish it.
i read the chinese version of it by one day without doing anything just reading it..but i think its not that good as many people s saying .. maybe cuz i am not very fond of this kind of books . But its a fun book to read .
It's even more eerie if you read it backwards. If you read chapter 33 backwards while sitting in a bathtub of water, the lights will start flickering for 5 seconds.
I read the version written in swahili even though I never learned swahili - it just happened and that was on the day I took a leak in the font of the baptist church just up the road - I was bursting and they didnt have a toilet anywhere so I went in the font at the church anyways - I read the book in swahili at least I think it was because after all I was very very drunk at the time ha ha ha .. reminds me of the time ... blah blah blah and they glued his hand to a horses arse ha ha ha hmmm so thats how I read the book cant remember a thing read it in swahili but it looked chinese to me
The good thing about reading the Dervinchy Code in a language you don't know is that it adds an extra dimension in decyphering the cryptic messages, thereby making the book last longer and getting more of your money's worth. Another way to read it would be to use writing block cubes. They can be bought from almost any chidren's toy shop that caters for 3-5 year olds. Best of all, however, would be not to read it at all, and throw the book straight into the recycle bin, thus helping the environment.
