Jesus knew he was gonna die on the cross, and he went willingly. He didn't like it, but it was God's will: Matt 26:36-46 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there." 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me." 39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will , but as You will ." 40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done." 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand." NKJV As one sees. Jesus didn't want too. But it was God's will for him to die for the sins of the people, so he obeyed. He was than betrayed, by one of his best 'friends'; as well as arrested, beaten, whipped, tortured, and than killed on the cross. Because of what we've done. We're basicly the ones responsible for his death.
God doesn't condemn. It's your own fault that you're going to hell. Sin sends people to hell, not God.
i still dont think its right to tell people they are going to hell or not...we are taking it upon ourselves to be God and tell other His will, when we are not Him... and if you go by what Jesus had said in the gospels, Jesus is responsible for His own death, im not going to find the passage, but it goes something like: no one can take My life from Me, I lay it down uon My own free will i also think Judas get a lot of flack he doesnt deserve
It's the only way. Jesus was sinless, and we all have sinned. ONLY INNOCENT BLOOD CAN WASH AWAY SINFUL BLOOD. Many people go like: " Oh! It should've been me on that cross!" The thing is only, it wouldn't have worked, and it would've been useless. Sad, but true. Sin keeps us out of Heaven. Hate, rebelliousness, self-righteousness, lust,etc...tell me you hadn't ever have this. When there's no forgiveness of sin, then there's no way to heaven. And nobody's actually worthy of heaven, because all have sinned, but since God had so much love for us, he has given us his one and only son to pay for it, the one who was truely innocent: John 3:14-20 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. NKJV
Just because I don't believe in god doesn't mean that I automatically break the 10 commandments. If I were to say I was Christian, and kept acting the same that I am now (minus the anti-god stuff, obviously), your parents would love me. Not everyone who doesn't believe in your god is automatically a bad person, you closed-minded fool.
:H Really? Now I've always gotten those sinful blood stains out with Oxyclean pretty easily ... Also ... I think the innocent blood of one man Jesus is more likely to be washed away by the metric tons of blood of all the rest of humanity, rather than the vice versa. Gotta call you on that one. One of the commandments goes something like, "Thou shalt not worship any idol as higher than Me." God is pretty low if he's non-existant in your mind. As much fun as bashing Christians can be, bashing non-Christians can be equally so. (Not to bash anyone here!)
Maybe the whole sin = damnation thing is more about cause and effect then about punshiment: If person X tells you to look both ways when you cross the street and you say "Fuck you person X" and walk right out into traffic without looking is it person X's fault you got hit by a bus?
You're a sinner. Maybe you don't sin alot, but that doesn't change the fact that you HAVE sinned. In order to get to heaven one must be sinless. And one can't do that by himself. Forgiven sins= heaven sins that aren't forgiven=hell 'close-minded fool' I'm just saying what the Bible says. :H If you've got a problem with that, stay out of the Christianity Forums.
According to the gospel of Matthew... "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: Matthew 19:17 So if any christian tells you "I'm good, you're bad" I guess they don't get it. either that or they're God.
Poor ryupower, you're going to hell like all of us. My god told me so. And you're a fucking moron, but hey, "Im just sayin' what the holy book says" so don't take offence u delusional little bitch. (holy book quote again there)
And like all evil men who have seen the error of their ways, We shouldn't be sitting around repenting for forgiveness, We should be going to hell like MEN (and WOMEN) and paying, For what we have done. Sorry, haha ... I was being sarcastic, with the blood thing. Realistically (or perhaps Christianly?) speaking, though ... even though God's supreme logic is written down in the Bible, I have a hard time following it. How does one person's innocent blood wash away and completely forgive the blood of countless billions of others? I know the answer to "Was Jesus' blood that pure?" would be "Yes," of course, but ... that really just ... doesn't make any sense to me.
Dear NaykidApe, I like your insight, I think you are on to something. The way I understand it, if person Y says "live in love, in truth, in peace, in wisdom, live creatively and compassionately and harmoniously," and you say "Fuck you person Y" and try to live without these "things" then the problem isn't some nonexistent "wrath of Y," the problem is that your life becomes loveless, truthless, without peace, unwise, etc. It isn't so much a matter of whose fault it is or who is offended, it is more about a life wasted on a miserably unhealthy, death-bound stance. A stance which is all-too-often contagious, since it has an effect on all who have any kind of contact with that life. The good news is, as long as one still has life, one can still choose to live it well. It is all about the inspiration. Peace and Love
Exactly. Alot of the old testement portrays God as some kind of omnipotent prison warden and the whole meaning of life is that we watch our step lest we piss him off and he fuck us up. Jesus of Nazareth said we're allready fucked up, because we're fuck ups, and we need God to save us from ourselves.
Jesus' blood was pure because he did not sin, ever. One sin, and it would've lost it's purity, like ours. He could wash away so many sins because he was 100% human AND 100% God.
So the number of sins that his purest blood can wash away is innumerable, simply because it is so pure? Makes sense ... not material sense, but theological sense. =P
In the days before Jesus the Jews had to sacrifice animals to cover their sins But no animal could cover it up forever Jesus beccause he was pure was able to cover it. The next step is to destroy evil.
