As I have been told - Enlightenment is an infinite state totally free and limitless beyond birth and death - and as such has nothing to do with personality dedication or morals. Here is a description from a friend on the same path http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/bodhidharma/duerden.html ==================================================== “The ultimate truth cannot be challenged” www.acceleratedstates.com
Countless times people are compelled to share their thoughts on enlightenment and without much effort can sound insightful or spiritual when they themselves are not enlightened so the response is moot. Much like this response you are reading now. I have found enlightenment very curious about this for many years and have a blog directly about it, noted on my profile, and if you are serious would love to talk with you or whomever else has such interests. I think the challenge with Enlightenment is that the people who may have experienced this have such a hard time articulating it because by its nature the human language is very limited. An example is that if you tasted salt and and tried to explain the experience with someone else you could use a million words that could be simply replaced with a moment of experience. The fastest way to enlightenment, as I understand it, is an oxymoron because as it is said we are already there and we need to only drop the illusions of self to see the stillness of the pond that was always there in the first place. I too am seeking a more direct path and while I know many eastern philosophies speak of it clearly but also seem to be buried deep within a ton of cultural baggage I just don't feel I have the time to sort through. Lets talk... peace
First, please tell me why you think you need to be enlightened. Your words must come from the heart. Silverswhispers: Enlightenment is the act of seeing what's inside of you with great clarity. The sensation which accompanies that act of enlightenment is so stunning it feels as if you see light. This is why there are countless references to light with respect to enlightenment. As it stands now, it is unclear to you. Yes, all religions and people have "cultural baggage". The next step after enlightenment is realization. Realization is the merging of all that you are (your conscience, your soul, your ego, your sponteneity, your body) as one, so they work together. Mastery is demonstrated as that ability spreads from its first occurence, as an exercise typically in a safe protected setting, to the outside world, to your life. Your mind has nimbleness to move to whatever mindset is perfect taking into consideration the circumstance, the past, the present, and the future. Living in the sweetspot more and more without trying. These experiences, enlightenment and realization, show you your state of progress in exercises which allow you to live better. An analogy would be a soccer player who juggles a ball as an exercise for the game of soccer. The ball juggling is an exercise just like the exercise needed to attain enlightenment or realization. The outcome of the exercise is better performance in the game, for the soccer player, its better ball handlling skills in the game, for the person who exercises and achieves enlightenment and realization, its better skills for the game of life. Breaking the analogy down further, the essence of soccer is the ability to handle the ball within whatever circumstance is presented. Exercise in ball handling is paramount. In life, the primary exercise required is opening up, something that is not easy for many. thus the directive, please tell me why you think you need to be enlightened. Your words must come from the heart. Always remember your first priority is living, so as you set time aside for exercising within your mind, also give yourself time to live as freely and joyously as you can while treating others with love and respect. ~greg
live. you are already enlightened. the challenge is to now deal with that in a functional and effective manner. you will laugh and you will cry trying...and that is it. all of it. there is no separation between the enlightened and the not so. no crowns or scepters are issued, soldier, and there is no rank.
One of the most direct explanations of the path to enligthement is probably Shinzen Young's series. He's done a series of lectures call "The Science of Enlightemnent". Highly recommended if you're looking for a more direct and non-druggy way of getting there He's talking about how to use meditaiton and contemplation to reach the ultimate goal. It is absolutely fantastic series! Buy/Download/Seed and then listen.. and bliss out... You can find "The Science of Enlightemnent" at Sounds Trues homepage and on some other "nice" places ;-)
:iagree: FOR:- "And in the end the Love you take, will be equal to the Love you make" - live life the way you feel is right, as Enlightenment will find a way meThinks
Shaktipat is the mind-to-mind transfer of deep states of meditation practiced for thousands of years by the Siddhars of South India. It's possible to go directly into realization after receiving Shaktipat, but it's more common to be launched into an automatic process that begins where you are and takes you effortlessly into successively deeper states until Enlightenment is reached.
Hehe, those were the days. The best way to reach enlightenment is as individual as people themselves. The best way for me will probably be different to the best way for you. The route, doesn't matter. The destination does.
Living in harmony with nature is enlightenment. The more you do, the more you get enlightened. There is no way you will get enlightened in a skyskraper room in a big western city full of noise, pollution and zombies.
