Technically? Maybe... The "soy boy" thing is a supposed insult used by the right to denote a "non-alpha" male. (and also all left voting males, because they are supposedly the same thing)

Mostly used because they can't call those guys "gay" anymore.

I pointed out to him how this is inherently racist as Asians eat more soy products than any other race and Asian men are already dealing with stereotype that they are somehow less masculine than their western counterparts. By using this term he is reinforcing a very demeaning stereotype against Asian men. I pointed this out to him. He didn't care

Again, plenty of Asians, men and women, drink soy milk due to lactose intolerance. So that definition isn't much better

Soy isn't a part of the Asian race. It's a part of some cultures within Asia. Therefore it's not racist. Nice try though.

Besides, these Asian cultures have been eating a different kind of soy for centuries called natto, which is a fermented organic soy. A much higher quality soy than the GMO soy we consume in the west in so much of our processed foods. The soy we in the west consume today is loaded with phytoestrogens. Which lowers the testosterone levels in men, and can cause hormonal imbalances in women that can lead to cervical and breast cancer.

1st of all before we go any farther I'm both Asian and a chef.

Soy products are consumed in various dishes in east Asian nations such as China, Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. Obviously that is not indicative of the Asian race, which I never said. I said Asians consume more soy than other races.

Also, food is culture. Ethnicities have a culinary identity. To shit on a culinary tradition is to shit on a cultural one. I know you don't understand that, you've shown you don't understand that, but it doesn't mean it isn't true.

And natto? lol it's not a type of soybean eaten all over Asia, it's a fermented soybean dish (fermented with a specific bacteria) eaten in Japan. I should know because my parents were both Japanese immigrants and I eat natto for breakfast at least 3 times a week.

And if you want to talk about GMOs (widely misunderstood and vilified due to propaganda) and the poisons of processed food (not in disagreement, but applies to more than soy product) I'm all ears. If you want to say men who consume soy are somehow less than, I dont want to hear it.

I'm lactose intolerant. That is i can't have normal milk because of the sugar content in it. That sugar content in milk is called lactose. It makes people who are lactose intolerant fart a lot more than what people who aren't lactose intolerant do.

I will tell you what happened in Toronto. China town here, every day the streets are washed and the amount of garbage seeping out juices is unbelievable there. Anyways, last time I ate in China town in my fair city, when we left the restaurant I looked down the little space between the building next to the establishment I was in and I see the kitchen door down there open, and out comes a cook with a pot. He lifts off the lid of a metal trash can and scoops out rice! I was shocked! About two weeks later 16 restaurants in China town were shut down because they were so unsanitary and rat infested, China town never recovered after that. The city even made the suggestion that they be allowed to have cats in their restaurants. A few of them were serving up cats. There was one who was serving coyote. 4 carcasses in his freezer. They are smaller versions of timber wolves here, coywolves

 

The cats were to keep down the rat population, not for human consumption when the city suggested they be allowed to cat cats in their restaurant.

I think the vilification of GMOs is mostly based on misinformation. Genetically modified does not mean poisoned. Other than that, I got nothing

 

Ok then, you understand that race and culture are not the same thing. So why did you call me a racist?

GMO foods are made with patents so corporations like Dow and Monsanto can sue small farmers who are growing crops that were pollinated with their products. These corporations also modify crops so they do not create new seeds for farmers and nurseries to germinate, so they have to keep rebuying the same seeds from the suppliers every new season. No company should be allowed to have a patent on nature. But GMO policies and Obama’s Protect Monsanto Act allows them to. In order for a plant to be genitivally modified to be pesticide resistant, they can splice the DNA of a tomato or a soybean with scorpion venom. Yeah, I can’t imagine consuming scorpion venom with farm produce will lead to healthy results. They’re vilified for a good reason. I recommend the documentary GMO OMG.

I’m a man who consumes small amounts of soy. Not because I want to, but because it’s almost impossible to avoid in processed foods and sauces. Testosterone rates in men have been declining by 2% each year and estrogen rich foods aren’t helping this problem
