I just don’t think on that plane anymore. I’ll grant you that orange man is unique, but he’s also being propped up by one of the old guard parties. At this point, the politics the parties present are rather superficial and actually rather disrespectful, hiding behind a façade pretending their machinations have much to do with you, your success, happiness, or failure. I admit again that comes across as pessimistic, but for me it doesn’t really have a value on the pessimism/optimism scale. I just operate in a different orbit than both the hard policies or the political culture. The retail tit-for-tat politicking is distracting and doesn’t seem to lead to much except the same arguments, over and over again, with partisans on both sides being apologists for their officials’ naughty behavior while excoriating the same behavior from the other team. We get wrapped up in tribalist silos and miss the fact that everything else is slowly coming undone while we stare in rapt attention at the ones who keep it going. We finally found the perpetual motion machine, except unfortunately we don’t get to use it when we flip on a light switch :)

You’re preaching to the choir as far as orange man. Wasted words. But the Dems also fail to represent my views or desires, and while the realpolitik says to vote D just to keep Trump out - and I respect that - it would merely be a vote against Trump rather than a vote for something I actually want to see. In that sense, Dems have not earned my vote, and continue to actively campaign on other items which are contrary to my worldview. So, pubs trashed themselves, Dems aren’t earning it, and down the third party path I continue. Pubs for their part accuse me of wasting my vote in particular, another trope I actively repudiate, as voter participation in this country is so low that the only wasted vote is one you don’t cast. I’ll again reiterate that the two-party system doesn’t guarantee that those two parties have to be the ones we put up with, and I just don’t.

There is no doubt our selection for supreme leadership in very narrow. Neither candidate is really qualified for the office. The Dem has a poor track record filled with untruths. The Rep has a proven track record that proves he isn't the best choice, also filled with untruths. Unfortunately our choices are limited and we are unable to select a true qualified leader from the lot. It's frustrating that our near perfect form of government set up by our wise founding fathers has come to this.

Blah--blah--blah---the choice is Harris or trump. Anyone that doesn't vote Harris , doesn't vote or votes for a third part candidate----is essentially backing trump. :tonguewink:

If Trump wins, his Attorney General Mike Davis plans "a reign of terror...I will rain hell on Washington, D.C.” His main objectives: fire “a lot of people” and replace them with Trump sycophants; indict Joe Biden, deport “10 million people and growing,” or about 3% of the country’s population; detain “a lot of people” in Guantanamo Bay and “the D.C. gulag”; and pardon MAGA cult members who stormed the U.S. Capitol during Trump's failed coup d'etat Jan. 6, 2021.“We’re going to put kids in cages. It’s going to be glorious. I’m going to be Trump’s viceroy of D.C. because I don’t like democracy. I want more authoritory powers.”
If Trump wins the 2024 election, this guy who "doesn't like democracy" is going to be one of the most powerful people in the country, tasked with helping to implement Project 2025 — a right-wing blueprint for the next Republican administration.

Sure would be nice if all those "both-sides-ism" proponents who think the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans would actually cite information that supports their position. They won't, because they can't; there is no similarity at all.

“He is the most dangerous person ever. I had suspicions when I talked to you about his mental decline and so forth, but now I realize he’s a total fascist. He is now the most dangerous person to this country…a fascist to the core.”
former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley

The Russians have a lot more problems than shortages of COVID testing machines. They appear to have a 12th century mentality with the urge to kill and/or destroy anything and everything.

Putin and some of his lackeys do, many Russians object to the war in Ukraine but if they speak out they get stifled.
