His racism is more implied @Pressed_Rat. I'd point to "the wall" thing, but some people fail to see what's racist about it.

I think that in this country there are enough Mexicans for there to be a racist attitude about them. What I mean is some people resent the language barrier, and other perhaps cultural phenomena. They're not like other Americans in that they have a Dia De Los Muertos. Or maybe because they celebrate Mexican Independence. I think he embraces that with his policy, and hopes that it guides his base to the ballot. He wants to erect a symbol in the minds eye way more than he gives a hoot about an actual wall or how effective it is.

It's really insidious. But anyway, I don't think I'm wrong about it. :)

It's the stringent attitude about immigrants; where they come from (Nordic countries ok, Africa not, rich over poor, educated, etc). He wants to offer preferential treatment in that way. Stuff like that. Rich guy stuff with the power of the American seat and government behind it. That's racism imo.

Where have I claimed that it's the entirety of what this nation was built on? I'm not clear where you're getting that. Just because you talk about one topic doesnt mean you believe all other topics didnt happen.

My entire point with bringing this up was to connect it with racism in modern politics - because there are wealthy older men in politics who grew up in the Jim Crow era and benefitted from a system of white supremacy (please dont try to tell me Jim Crow laws were not systemic white supremacy because that would be a laughable claim) and these men still carry that mindset with them. And unlike racist old Ethel down the street, they hold positions of power and use their power to reinforce their mindset. History doesnt happen in a vacuum.

And just possibly his racism is inferred, not implied.

There is nothing inherently raaaaaaaaaacist about curtailing illegal immigration into a country. If you do not have borders, you will not for long have country: they are part of what defines a nation.

I'm not sure if Trump is truly racist or not to be honest. I believe he will take any position that he believes will give him enough support to stay in office. He's a lot like a whore; he'll do or say anything, no matter how disgusting, to get paid. For a whore that equals money, for Trump that equals the presidency.

this is how i see it too. he may be an actual racist, but he's not honest enough to really know for sure.

but i definitely agree with the assertion that he is a fuck.

I think that the way that you go about that needs to be incredibly diplomatic or you are a xenophobic bigot with a microscopic intellect.

    poor choice of words?

Well I don't know how to say it. I really think there is a collective attitude about Mexicans in America though.

People are so selfish when it comes to English speakers vs. Spanish speakers.

It's like they don't quite comprehend that it's just a different language. Or that brown skin makes a person less desirable. I hate racism. It's fucking ridiculous and incredibly unchristian.

  14. There are some things that aren't affected by diplomacy, sneaking across a border is one of them. That's actually driven by crime and there are all manner of criminals who can be employed to sneak a person into the US (on both sides).

Consider the barrier between India and Pakistan (which can be seen from space). They didn't put it up because they were implementing racism. They put it up because they were implementing "Murderism and Bombism".

Attaching only a single possible meaning to something only demonstrates a lack of interest in discussing other potential issues. Agenda or nada?

  15. I agree, in both directions. People in general are very arrogant about their native language.

That seems both erroneous and awfully narrow. For one, there are few things where diplomacy is irrelevant; you should know that. The other thing, and perhaps more importantly, we're not really just talking about the border, are we? There's more to it.

  17. No actually, the discussion about the border is only about the border, the demarcation of our nation. It should not be disrespected or the concept of nations has expired. Which means cultures will eventually merge and the concept of diversity will become absurd.

I've been hearing about the Mexican border for my entire life. Over the years enforcement has been a matter of extremes where people we shot for crossing to a virtual wide open welcome mat. So I fully understand the confusion, especially that of the Mexican and Central American peasants. It's what makes it so easy for criminals to prey on them.

When I consider the results of unregulated human trafficking, as opposed to proper immigration processing, I can't imagine why anyone would actually want the border to be so wide open and badly patrolled (as made evident by the scores of dead people littering the desert, on the US side).

I've said before that I don't want to see thousands of illegal Swedes sneaking across the border either. We're either a nation or we are not. Rules should apply equally to all. That's the price of equality under government rule.

See... I take issue with that mentality.

I don't think "disrespect" is part of it.

I think there is a consequence for border hopping, but I don't think that's what Trump's really after. He wants to stick it to Mexicans.

That's true. And I think making a wall for the Mexicans while inviting the Swedes is problematic if not derogatory.

    99.9% of the time.
My intent was not to insult. I was just looking for confirmation.
