Hello my name is LauraAnn. I recently got laid off, pushed out of my mothers house and onto the street causing me to drop out of college where I was getting A's and B's. Now, I owe Sally Mae about 10K, I cannot find a job, and I am crashing on a couch that feels nothing like home. However, I distract myself from these realities by painting, drawing, knitting, sculpting and surrounding myself with friends. Oh and I've been on a neglect dread journey for 4 months. If that's the reason I am not getting said job so be it I will sell my art on the beach and eat couscous and oatmeal forever!
Hey LauraAnn, sorry to hear about all that trouble your going through in your life, ive only been homeless(living on the streets not a couch) for a month in my entire life and that really sucked so i can only feel a tiny bit of your pain, i dont quite get why u dropped outa college because your homeless, to me thats just an excuse because the month i was homeless i was in my college course for becoming a Computer Technician, you paid for the course so you had every right to continue to go to school nothin in the sign-up sheets says you must have a home. and i hope i dont come off as sum 1 nagging at you im just tryin to point out that you could have continued your course despite your situation. I love your idea about selling paintings on the beach, great idea should offer to draw portraits for people and if they really want maybe a sculpture lol, there are jobs that will hire you despite your hair style just gotta get out their and apply everywhere, if no 1 hires just go out and re apply, its all about timing, say you come in to apply for the job and a manager is feeling good about staff so they toss your Resume aside, well in a couple weeks that same manager may get really pissed off at an employees attitude/work ethics and you come in all happy smiling with a positive attitude they'll be more inclined to can the idiot and hire you, so just need the willpower to tough this through. and love the fact that your doin neglect dreads should get sum pics up for us to see
I understand your point. However, there is actually no way to get to the college I was at by bus. I have no car. And am staying in a place quite far from the college so I was totally unable to get there. Trust me, I really wanted to finish. I should have picked a more accessible college but lacked foresight. Also, thank you for the positive encouragement. I know I will get through this. I have posted some pics in here somewhere. I have also posted my video update. Can't wait for these babies to be epic awesomeness.
Hi! I've started my dread journey 3 weeks ago and my goal is just to simplify my life style I'm 26 years old, happily married to my hard working hubby. I'm a stay at home mom to a silly hippie cloth diapered 19 month old. I knit and crochet when I'm not chasing him around. Happy to be here!
Hi. I'm new to the dread world. I just started mine yesterday. I'm not sure why, but there is pretty much close to an inch of roots that isn't knotted at all. The rest of it is pretty cool though. I'm 21 and have a 6 month old son who is my world. I'm in school and should be getting my associates degree in drug and alcohol counseling in a little over a year. I can't really think of much more to say other than hi.
Hello dreadies! My name is Jessica and im a 29 yr old college student/ service industry worker. Ive had my dreads for 1 year and 1 month, and I love them. I had some help from another dreadie and we back combed and palm rolled my hair. Wax free baybee! I use the latch hook to tuck in the loose hairs up top and use a crochet needle to pull in anything else. I only have a couple dreads that are round and blunt at the bottom. Most of them have free ends.
Hey guys, new to the forums. Just introducing myself. My name is shane and my hair has been locking for about 2 months now. There mostly natural. I backed combed just enough to get some sections cause my hair is thin and stubborn and i refuse to wax. Only spent like 30 min doing it and the rest has been all natural. hopefully ill post pics soon.
Hey y'all! I'm newly registered but have been an occasional lurker for the past year or so. Folk call me Dre and I've been wanting dreads since high school. I currently stay at home with my daughter and about two weeks ago I realized "Shit, I'm not going to have to impress a boss anytime soon. I'm locking my hair up." and started TnR. Took me nearly 12 hours but I had a nice head of locs by 3am. I'm completely wax free but I do use the crochet needle on occasion (even though I know it's the debbil). I'm here because I like dreadlocks.
