Taking the prescription is wrong, unless he believes it will bring you bottily harm. As i've said before..pharmacists learn how drugs will affect the customer. They arent just people who fill bottles. Doctors can make mistakes. So, just because they have a prescription doesn't mean it 'must' be filled.

they arent 'picking and choosing WHO can get it.' Its not like they are saying no to women, but giving it to men.

Government has no business telling a business what they must distribute.

The Workplace Religious Freedom act should protect all 'pro life' pharmacists. But, all that means is that another pharmacist without such beliefs can distribute it. As it should be.

As john kerry said: "No American should have to face the choice between practicing their faith or working at their job, it's that simple."

Got to love the first amendment.

edit: P.S. to the person who gave me negative feedback..thats why i spelled it wrong, genius :p

As a pharmacy technician and pharmacy student, I agree that prescriptions should not be denied based on personal or moral beliefs, but only for medical reasons. This issue is being largely exagerated, though. The overwhelming majority of pharmacists, like other professionals, do understand the distinct difference between professional and personal obligations. In ten years of pharmacy, I have never met a single pharmacist that would not dispense birth control. On the other hand, I don't think legislation is the answer. There are many obvious ways to get around that. There will be much more patient harm if pharmacist are required to dispense any prescription. Professionals should act as professionals, and not moral leaders. That responsibility, though, demands the ability for pharmacist to refuse prescriptions. If no clinical judgement is required, we could train monkey's to fill prescriptions.

Other professionals are NOT required to perform duties that they are not morally comfortable with, INCLUDING doctors (except in emergencies) and lawyers.

right, if the pharmacist sees something wrong with the prescription and this prescription is somehow going to harm the lady, then its okay to deny it, other than that, he cannot just deny it based on his morals...unless he wants to quit that day or get fired.
