Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?

I wouldn't say anyone really impacted me. Ever since I can remember I've been a pretty peaceful person, but I guess I'd have to say my brother Shayne because he was into the gangs and all the violence for so long and I hated it.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?

I really only hang around four people and they don't treat me any differently then they use to. I mean I occasionaly get called a tree huggin' hippie when they throw their trash on the ground and I pick it up, but they accept me for who I am and in return I accept them for who they are.

    Do you think it'll last?

I think it will because being a hippie isn't a fad it's not going to die out with time like American Eagle and Hollister will it's a lifestyle and I'm sure I'll always believe in the power of love and peace.

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
-Well, it's partially my dad, because he was around during the 60's, and he wasn't a hippy, but he loved all of the best bands: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, etc. I grew up with this music because of my dad, and I guess over time I started to smoke pot, and it all clicked... I realized that there was a new way for me to live.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
-Well, to be honest, I don't have any friends who I can really call good friends. I mean yeah i have fun with them, but they are so like, not like me at all. I get shit for my lifestyle all the time. It's ridiculous. It's the reason why I joined this site, to be able to interact with people who are hippies. And yeah, I hang out with video game losers, and punk kids. This is at school only. Outside of school, I'm by myself. I have my girlfriend though. She's not a hippy, but she's amazing. And I have my brother (sometimes), who is awesome.

    Do you think it'll last?
-Yea man, i think my new perspective on life is only gonna get more detailed. And for this reason I feel like I'm totally ready to do acid: to expand my mind more than I could imagine.

I was turned by reading about and listening to John Lennon and Jim Morrison. Also by other favorite bands like Pink Floyd, Rush, The Beatles, Queen, etc... Around the middle of my freshman year in high school, I read the Manifesto of the Communist Party, and some other hippie lit, and I was changed.

My radical friends, like me, are pretty hippy themselves and theyre col to hang with. I have some other friends that always give me the pot is bad bullshit but theyre mostly cool.

My hippy-self will last for ever, as well as Im sure all hippyism.

I guess we live in a hippyish way, not that my parents are so hippyish. My mom, I don't really know what's up with her, not that she's not cool. My dad has "been there, done that." He actual BOUGHT a ticket to go to woodstock. He did the hippie thing when it was happening.
The music really pulled me in. I play classical flute, and my dad got me into Santana (who i just saw at the garden!) and then my friends got me into the Who. Soon my dad impressed me with Supersession (Mike Bloomfield/Al Kooper/ Stephen Stills) and I was listenning to a lot of Cream. I love Jethro Tull, Cream, Santana, Moody Blues, Blindfaith, Mike Bloomfiels, Clapton, Jefferson Airplane, Spencer Davis Group, all that jazz.......... But most of all----I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUNG STEVIE WINWOOD!!!!

Of course I have learned the culture and now live it. I guess you can't really learn it. It takes so much to grasp it. And "it" is different for everyone. The posters, lights........ I was fortunate enough to live in NY so I got to see the SUMMER OF LOVE: 40 yrs since 1967 show at the Whitney Museum.

Most of my friends are more into Red Hot Chili Peppers (ew) and funk type 80's music. Then there are the grunge people: "Clapton who?"

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I live in my classic rock, raw food diet, peaceful, 24 yr old Steve Winwood world............

Ahh BraveSirRubin...Neil Young is a genius is he not? Such a great artist, that also happens to be my favourite song from him.

    1) I honestly don't think anyone "molded" me into a hippy. Except for maybe 4 guys, named John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and let's not forget George Harrison. I got into the Beatles, and I started listening to their messages (and just the music in general) and it made me a new person. I started to become one with Mother Nature. I started to care for Her.

2)What would do think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
He gets high with a little help from his friends,
Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends.

What do I do when my love is away.
(Does it worry you to be alone)
How do I feel by the end of the day
(Are you sad because you're on your own)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,
Mmm I'm gonna to try with a little help from my friends

    Do you need anybody?
    I need somebody to love.
    Could it be anybody?
    I want somebody to love.

Would you believe in a love at first sight?
Yes I'm certain that it happens all the time.
What do you see when you turn out the light?
    I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,
Mmm I get high with a little help from my friends,
Oh I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends

    Do you need anybody?
    I need someone to love.
    Could it be anybody?
    I want somebody to love
    Oh...
I get by with a little help from my friends,
I'm gonna try with a little help from my friends
I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes I get by with a little help from my friends,
with a little help from my friends

    3) Well believe me, this is a change for the better man, so I think it will last.

hmm I don't think Anyone "Molded" me per se, but ironically, the music I listend to as a kid was like the beatles, and jimi hendrix, etc. all things my dad exposed me to, even though he's a lawyer :(.
I go to a charter school were basically everyone is tolerated, if not welcomed, and since people seem to like me friends and teachers treat me pretty well.
will it last? I hope so, I don't really plan on having a real job so if all of a sudden I decide not to preach peace and love I might be fucked. Ha

I'm kind of a new hippie. I used to be nothing like a hippie. I was into modern rock bands that some considered emo, but I was not emo one bit. Just a kid who acted stupid sometimes. I was curious to smoke pot, and in middle school i began. I started to hang around kids who liked bob marley and other hippy bands. I got used to bob marley and began to like his music. I found grateful dead and fell in love. I love the dead now. A few months went by and I had a couple dead tee's. Then for a physics extra credit assignment I tie dyed a shirt. It turned out amazing and I made 2 more for fun. Without even realizing it people were jokin around sayin nice shirt hippie whenever I wore my tie dye or dead shirts. I started to hang out with other kids who were die hard hippies and I began to do psychadelics as well as smoke alot of weed. Psychadelics opened my eyes alot.

Im not 100% hippy. I do litter. Not into lakes or forests or places that cause alot of damage, but around where I know it will get picked up or something. But people classify me as a hippy. I'm not very spiritual either.

I have become a very peaceful person. I myself don't think I'm a hippy, but I have a feeling I might be in a few years because of the direction I'm going in. Others think I'm a hippy though.

For me, it was definitley The Beatles. I have been listening to them since I was born, my mom loves them, and so does my grandpa. He even had a beatle hair cut back in the 60's! lol. Then about a year and a half ago, i started to listen to John Lennon himself, and i loved his message and the whole message of world peace, so here i am!....i used to be a ninja. ;)

I think being a hippie was my destiny. My parents named me after a Simon and Garfunkel song "For Emily wherever I may find her". I grew up hearing A LOT of Beatles songs all the time. My older brother and I were raised fairly poor. We lived in a very small apartment so we were constantly outside in all weather. Playing, using our imagination, climbing trees (much like normal kids, but to a pretty excessive amount, I remember always wishing I lived outside in nature).
I have no friends that are like me except my one friend, Liz who's also a bit of a hippie. When we are together we play guitar in public, we just chill really. Sometimes we give out free hugs. My brother too, is nearly the perfect stereotypical mold for a hippie, the dreads, the weed, lack of job. Haha. Other then that all my friends are simply average.
It will probably last because this is the way I've always been. I think its quite impossible to change who you are. That might just be me though.
    Peace &+ Love.

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
My father. Out of every body and thing in my life he has influenced me te most to become who i am and will be today. Im very happy iva had him in my life. Im a Hippie and Damn Proud.

How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
Well my friends i think could care less because if they didnt like me i dont think they'd hang around with me lol. I have non-hippie,Neo-hippie, Stoner, Hippy, Gangsta, Preppy, Skater friends and i love them all.

    Do you think it'll last?
Yes itll last forever and i will never change because being a hippie iznt a style or phase its a state of mind and lifestyle

"Hippy is an establishment label for a profound, invisible, underground, evolutionary process. For every visible hippy, barefoot, beflowered, beaded, there are a thousand invisible members of the turned-on underground. Persons whose lives are tuned in to their inner vision, who are dropping out of the TV comedy of American Life."
