Guess I'm not technically a teen hippy anymore man, but I'm not far off :D

Well when I was young I was most impacted by my parents but that was toward being a good Christian pastor's son. One of my main reasons for first gettin' into the hippy lifestyle was to show my parents that I could be happy without Jesus. But then when I was 15 we went to NYC, and I went down to see John Lennon's memorial in Central Park. While I was there a group of cats came along and started telling me that I looked like John Lennon. They wound up taking a liking to me, and invited me out further into the park to smoke. It was at this point that they decided I was Lennon reincarnate, because I liked them quite a bit, I guess you could say they really impacted my lifestyle too.

Back when I was still in school my friends treated me like the random guy with the beard, tye dye, barefeet, and lots of pot :sifone:

    It's lasted since I was 14 so I don't think I know it'll last man.
    Peace n' love

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
A major influence were my parents, biggest old time hippies I know.
Another influence was just in day to day life, looking around and seeing how much of the world people don't appreciate or take notice of, they're all too busy concerned with their 'look', how others will think of them, yada yada.
I just did not understand it at all, why spend hours getting ready to 'look nice' when the only person you should be dressing up for is yourself. Fuck the 'look' I said, fuck fitting in with everyone, why bother being the same as every other cat out there? I wanna be the cool cat, the different cat, and so I did.
Shoeless since 2009 and loving every second.
How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
They treat me the same, the occasional "where are your shoes man" or "get a haircut" is heard every know and then but whatever man, live life how you wanna, and thats exactly what I'm doin'.
    Do you think it'll last?
Definitely, this isn't just some phase, some dress style or something, it's a way of life, a way of thinking and thats not going to change.

    I don't have long hair anymore but I'm still a hippie. :)

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
The colors, the music, the appearance of freedom. Not friends, or parents.
How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
I don't hang out with the other neo-hippie types usually. My friends treat me wonderfully haha. Except my best friend's first thought of me (when I had long hair) was "Oh shit, a weird hippie kid, great."
    Do you think it'll last?
    I plan on it! :B

I discovered the music of the 60's in high school and it changed my life completely. I read as much as I could about the culture the style and the philosophy of the hippie generation. So when I put on my first pair of bell bottoms and started writing poetry mainly nature based I knew there was no turning back. I'm a hippie now and forever! *LOVE*

My parents (mainly my dad) really influenced me, from stories, thoughts, and how they raised me in general. Just kinda grow into my groove :)
The Grateful Dead certainly helped too haha. Pot hasn't played a big role in my life till this year, but I do dig it. On The Road (read it this year) was amazing to me....
My friends are mostly hip nerds, music lovers, or other outside the box thinkers. A few good hippie buds too :)
Love for a few more though. They're all cool with me, course I do get random crap or hoots & hollers from people drivin' by. ;)
Yeah, I'm sure I'll change in some ways as I grow, but I doubt I'll "stop being a hippie". It's all up in my mind man.

I'm treated like the cutest member of our little group, and I mostly hang out with scene kids.
    Yeah, I think it will.

Old legislation from the 60's has surfaced, the Fed requires 18 and under to apply for a Hippy card.

The Beatles man, nothing better than a life of weird creativity. Those guys had some of the best experiences life had to offerI gotta say LSD really puts things in perspective, i know now I will always be somewhat of a hippie. Especially with my use of psychedelics!
Some people like it, some don't-but I'll like everybody and that's all that has to matter. If the 60s are our future, the world has hope my friends

    1) John Lennon, Bob Dylan and this site

    2) My friends treat me fine, although some people call me a hippy, once i was even called "Jesus"(i was wearing white linen [nts, hemp flip flops and a hendrix Tee)

    3) I genuinlly think so. I love what the culture represents and i want to lead a life of minimalism and happiness.

Well to be honest before i became a hippy. I was a soul filled with hate on the verge of suicide and hating on everything that went against my facist ego. Then I started smoking weed and thinking I didnt need to be like that and changed hate for love and am never going to be like that again! :)

    As I recall,
Who: Primarily it was led by example set by my parents
How: Considering the lack of interaction and invitation to events, though contact remaining (in case of emergency) I guess with a bit of tolerant distance - though I do like the "Fool on the Hill" description
Do: Yes it is an eternal cycle of conscience and a test of character to the individual

"Keep the faith for the future, for we are dependent on the youth for successful World Wide development"

Who: this might sound cliche, but i took my first tab last february. box of rain was playing and i swear it was if jerry was soothing me and i felt this overwhelming sense of calmness and comfort and safety. the phrase "love everything you ever hated" came into my mind. ever since then i have just felt free of the need to judge people, things, and surroundings, and just live my life in the way that makes me happy : )

Friends: none of my friends are hippies but i have dragged them to the occasional furthur / phish show, which has definitely impacted them in some way. they are all my good friends however they really don't understand my philosophy on life, and still continue to gossip, behaviors that are just a waste of time (for me at least)

Last: it will last forever. ive finally found myself and ive never been happier : )

Who: the person who influenced me to make me a hippie would have been my mom. she raised me to love everyone, no hate, to respect the enviornment, she taught me that when times are tough (which has been most of my life) you don't need money or material things and all you need is love. she also taught me to keep an open mind to almost everything (except drugs (Not including marijuana)). the only thing missing was the tie dyes and the music, which is where my moms ex boyfriend came in. my mom, my sister and me were spending the night at his house and he didn't really have any kids movies to keep us busy, and you know what he popped in the dvd player? The Beatles: Yellow Submarine, it was an instant love between me and that movie, The Beatles led me on to more bands and artists like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. so on and so forth
Oh, yeah and also another person who influenced me was my hero, Johnathan Winston Lennon.

How my friends treat me: they are proud to have a hippie friend. they think of me as "the hippie" cause I am the only hippie in my school. everyone eles just says that I am a druggy because I have an open mind and spirit to everyone. the teachers have tried to address this with me, get me to say that I was on drugs (which I am not). But like I said, my close friends are proud to have me as a friend, and they have picked up on some of my stuff. like my girlfriend wears almost nothing but tie dyes (just like me) all of my friends recycle, my buddy phil has started hiking with me on the weekends, and my buddy Xen is now a HUGE reggae fan.

Will it last: of course it will, I have been a hippie from the moment I was born, what would change? Being a hippie is a life style not a phase (unless you are talking about the people who become hippies just in college cause they think its "cool")
