Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy? prolly my dad mostly hes the one who introduced me into the cultural, along with his friends
How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with? most of my friends are the type of person who doesn't care as long as you act like your self and are nice
Do you think it'll last? no doubt

John and Yoko are definitely good examples and inspirations. A lot of people hated on them and continue to do so but they just loved, loved life and each other. Both are inspiring people and artists.

The hippie culture is just one I've discovered I fit into...originally I kinda assumed hippies were just weird, zoned-out gypsies. I never really realised what they stood for. I've always been for peace and love and freedom and I have a perpetual love of the road and rock music, so I guess you could say I've always been a hippie at heart. But I guess you could say I was also influenced by Jimi Hendrix and a few movies with hippies in them.

Hmmm...well my friends and family don't really think of me as a hippie, more as crazy child who's going through a 'phase' (which pisses me off so much )...they all assume I have mental problems. :D I'm actually not acquainted with any hippies in my area (or country for that matter) and I'd love to find some likeminded people for friendship and maybe something more, but I don't know how to go about it at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. =]

Yeah, I think it'll last...I've always been this way and I've discovered that changing myself just makes me unhappy, so I'm not going to try and do it again.

Peace and love, people. :) :peace: <3

-I watched the video files, I read about our history, I listened to the music. The voice of the 60's is still flowing through our streets, the spirit lives as it was meant to be. In a way I think 'hippie' is a tag for everyone who stands for our rights, our freedom. A revolution of peace and love in living together harmoniously. Without war and oppression. We may have not stopped the vietnam war with our protests and drive shag wags but we stand for the same thing, were in the now and our generation has its own problems to stand up for.

I hang around everyone i'm open to the idea of communicating with all sorts but unfortently not everyone is as warm and welcoming as can be hoped some people are fashist fundamentalists.

Of course it will last. Look how people help haiti, look at the men and woman around this world who help others. Maybe were not all dressed in tye dye and braiding long locks of hair but it lives on. Real hippies don't die man, they just lay low until the laughter starts up again.

my heros are bob dylan, john lennon, jim morrison, hunter s thompson,
    and, though controversial... charlie manson.
i grew up on the beatles but my parents pretty much think i take it too far.
it's got to the point that come home covered in mud and they dont even look up:) my friends treat me like friends treat friends,
but they just dont get me. Being a hippie is a way of life, and its hard to understsnd on the outside looking in. Nowadays people need ther culture spoonfed to them, but when they look back on their boring mediocre lifes, they'll realize..
    maybe there was something more.

john and yoko. and also timothy leary.
i actually lost my best friend in the world because of my change in personality, even though it wasn't really that drastic of a change. he just thought i had gone off the deep end.
but i know this is who i was meant to be so i know it will last. it gives me something to live for because now i feel like i have more of a purpose than i did before.

Unfortunately I cant brag how cool my parents were to make me hippie. My hippie transformator was music. Rock and roll made me the way I am. It first start with Hendrix, Lennon and Barrett. I was always peace-kinded and into peace and love, so I believe I was hippie the first day I was born, I just realized it 17 years later. And when I watched Woodstock, I felt I was there somewhere, dancing to Dead naked in mud while high on weed.

Hm, my friends treat me same, some of they are hippies, too. Some people look me strange, but I dont care. To have open mind is rare thing here in Balkan, so I understand them.

Well I hope it will last til I die, maybe to witness some youth protest again, it would be awesome. I'll never forget what Hunter S. Thompson have said : "San Francisco in the middle of 60s was a very special time and place to be apart of. But no explanation, no mix of words, or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time in the world, whatever it ment." I feel so envy to anyone who could experience the 60s, especially san fran 60s.

    :peace:

What happened in my life to make me a hipie? In spirit, subconsiously, I've been a hippie since birth;I didn't even think to start calling myself that until recently. Honestly, I've been going through a lot in the past year, and have been throughly miserable about the direction things have been going. I'm just not the type to become this morose, suicidal being, and I started to meditate and do calmning excercises because I needed a way to channel out my anger. Instead of lashing out and screaming every time someone makes thier little condescending remarks, I just tell myself to remain calm and keep smiling, that everything would end up all right in the end and the end IS near, I thank God), and that history has proved that violence solves literally nothing. Also-and I know this has nothing to do with being a hippie, I just wanted to add it-I've always kinda dressed in hippie fashions, and a friend told me I was turning into a hippie. I took that as a positive thing. I started getting into women's rightsand gay rights, discovered my hero Harvey Milk, and started meditating every morning and night to help my blackened moods. Some members of my family have made horrible desicions, which I initially hated them for:now, I know they were only trying to help, and I have made my peace with them. Hatred will do nothing for me, so why should I blindly hate something when I could be fixing what was wrong in the first place? I now call myself a hippie, not because it's cool, but because I acually act like one.
My friends all think it's a great thing;some kids I go to school with at first thought I was a part of some weird religious cult, but they thought it was so interesting, not strange at all. I think that I will remain a hippie;my '70's bred mother has a ton of influence over me, and I've begun to think that she's been a hippie her whole life and I didn't even realize it. In my opinion, this is the best way to live;I've stopped getting tension headacdhes, I'm happier as a person, and finally, I've found a group I can proudly say I belong to.

its alright. i learned who i was and that meant so much to me and it really helped me to cope with losing a friend.

you said you went through some hard times, was it the finding where you belong that helped you to get through it?

by the way, harvey milk is one of my heroes as well. :)

you said your parents and grandparents were hippies. i wish i could say that. my family doesnt understand me at all. i have kinda idealistic views and if i say anything my parents will just laugh at me and call me a dumbass and that ill learn my lesson later in life and come to my senses.

it makes it hard to continue to be who i am.

    i see..
well your parents can't choose who they want you to be.they need to accept you for who you are..the only person in my fam who has disowned me is my g-ma on my dad's side.she says my parents and i are a disgrace to the family.its only bcuz she doesn't undertstand.
i think i just went around in a circle..i'm sorry i'm really stoned right now.
i hope one day your parents will learn to understand you,but dont let them bring you down just be yourself :D
and if they dont like it..tough shit :p
