Hagwons/public schools need foreign ESL teachers. If they have one, they will get more money. Parents will take their children to a hagwon with a white person working there.

Most real teachers in the west do not want to leave their homes or move their families. So the hagwons hire university graduates. They want to come because they are young and because these people think it will be exciting to live in another country.

The hagwon owners/public schools do not ask for a TESL. They do not ask for a 'teaching license'. They do not mention either of these things. They ask for a BA, a resume and a photo. That's all. If they like your face, they might not ask for a BA. They will also pay you more money. If this is illegal, the hagwon owners/public schools aren't telling the foreign teachers.

Why don't you get angry at the people who are hiring Americans 'illegally'? There are many of these people in Korea. They are Korean.

I guess it's just easier to blame the Americans... especially since you know that the law here is so biased against foreigners that the Koreans will always be right and the outsiders will always be wrong.

If you are saying that people shouldn't be working here without an E-2 visa then that's true, but you said 'teaching license'... which I took to either mean something I am unaware of, or TESL/CELTA certification or something. You need an E-2 to work at one place, you need an F-2 or F-4 to work at a couple of places or do private lessons. Most American English teachers have one of those visas.

I'm not saying that all foreigners are saints, or that they don't commit crimes. I'm just saying that most ESL teachers are not criminals. It seemed like you were trying to say that most Americans are criminals... which isn't true.
