Tonight/morning will be the hardest morning of the year because it is my Laura's birthday and surrounding this week a long time ago before I met her she lost her family in vehicle accident. Not just one member though, pretty much everyone that had cared about her as a child. All gone. =[ so it tends to be the hardest week of the year and it's sad because it should be much more special. She is 32 tonight. I have been in her life for almost exactly half of it now. (A touch longer than half) I think that's pretty special. :)

Yes, that is special. I cannot even fathom what she went though...losing everyone all at once like that...:(

It would have been the worst yes. Afterwards she grew up with what was left of extended family.

When I think of it now it's really no surprise why she felt the need to get so close and attached to me, maybe? I'm not sure but I couldn't fathom that myself. It must be so hard. Luckily I don't think it effects her any longer just usually around this week she may seem not herself.

I bought her a kitchen aid and some good kitchen scales. I'm going to teach her to cook. :)

And yes they were gifts I can use myself. :D

    That's an impressive relationship length!

Happy Birthday to Laura. I know you'll make it special for her.

Teaching someone to cook seems like a fun idea!
And it's not only useful, it's also good quality time

    I really liked Leonard Cohen.
    What a special, unique voice.
And he seemed like a nice, chill person, not too crazy about media and attention.
There was an interview with him that I bookmarked a few months ago to read later, but I forgot.
    I suppose it's about time.

Yeah. Well on Saturday morning our beautiful white kitchen was running red with blood. I can't recall what it's called but I hate this device.

Is so very dangerous! And she cuts herself all the time and will lose a finger soon. And she tries in the kitchen she's just not very good. So I have been helping her for a while but I tend to come in and take over.. which I'm always in trouble for. But I gotta teach her some things because she'll lose an arm and maybe an elbow or something. Lol.

The kitchen aid is good because it helps her mix things easier. :)

I want to ban this slicer though. I remember also my mother cut the tip of her finger off on the same thing. Hated it ever since.

:D That evil contraption is called a mandoline. I've had to use them in restaurants...well, I would be told to use them...and I would for a minute, when the boss was watching. This I would immediately stop and just use one of the extra sharp knives.

Please tell Laura I've sent Happy Birthday wishes. :)

A mandoline! Ours looks a little more solid than that one but the same idea. I personally don't like to use it but it's the easiest way to cut jerky strips which is all I use it for. It would be fine if I had some chainmail gloves lying around the kitchen. But apparently there's more than one way to cut things sooo... who'm I to argue with that...

And I will tell her, thank you. :)

I forgot about the chainmail gloves! In this one really nice restaurant I worked, one of the owners (husband/wife team) had some.

I remember now her telling me (after she saw me stop using the mandolin and go to the sharp knife) that I could use her gloves when I used the mandolin if I wanted. lol Since she wasn't the one telling me to use the mandolin but the jackass 1st shift manager, I knew she really didn't care. She just wanted the vegs cut the way they wanted them, which I could do with a knife. I told her thanks but no thanks. :)

in the stoners lounge chat we....meaning mostly orison and myself....we will occasionally make note of anything involving ''420''....post counts, time stamp....even notifications....its a juvenile and pointless exercise but hey?...we're stoners ;)........ ..........I made pizza for dinner...it was only passable....not my best work....I blame the quality of the dough I bought instead of made

I heard my dog scratching at my front door which seemed odd because he doesn't do that...if he needs me to the door he barks....a single short bark meant to get my attention.....if I don't notice the first bark he will wait a minut e or two and bark again

.anyway I get up and open the door and one of my neighbors hunting dogs, riley, comes bounding in....he gets loose now and again and comes down the road.....so I lt him run around sniffing stuff while I decide what to do...fuck it...I grab the leash and leave to return him up the road to his kennel.....in the mean time....my territorial jealous as shit dog comes in the living room and raises a leg right where riley was siting.....marking scent or what ever...he peed in my living room the little fucker..........so he was scolded.....but I cant really blame him.....sometimes when I go to my friends houses and they leave the room I will quickly pee in the corner or under a couch cushion to mark that I have been there....so ya....cant be too mad at the dog

Anyone that says SNL isn't as funny as it used to be must have missed last nights.
Although I guess having Chappelle on helped.
