That's quite a large leap there, sis. Self defense is crucial as is awareness of ones surroundings. But if every time I got grabbed I reported it I'd never been outta court. There is, in fact, a very practical line to draw. And if you can deal with it yourself rather than waiting for the authorites to rescue you you'll be better off.

The scary thing is, you hear story all the time about women who were raped and did report it, yet the man was found not guilty. So they go through the trauma of re-living it and talking about it, then end up looking like it was all a lie.

Yup. It's a fucking nightmare. If there was a witness or footage or any way to prove anything, I'd say go for it. But in 9/10 of these cases the girls got nuthin. So you do the practical, smart things: change your location, learn to defend yourself, safety in numbers and having friends watch your back. The cops don't stop rape, they rape kit you. Don't wait for them.

Well i don't know any Self defense other than to scream, so thats what the authorities are for..

Yes sad but true many rape cases do get dismissed, however better to have charged the prick with it than not at all, if he's true to form he'll do it again, and they'll have something on him..

I personally don't think I would. I would protect myself much more and be more aware of things, but I have often thought that I couldn't report it. A guy once tried to get me to go back with him, and pulled me by the arm and such, and I never said anything that even that.

What are you gonna do when there's no one to hear you scream? Or when there's no one who cares? You have to assume that no one isgoing to be there to help you, even though there usually is. Because it only takes one vulnerable moment, one mistake.

    exactly.......

self defense is pretty much innate when you're in danger, you either fight for your life or die trying.

You got lucky. I would think after an experience like that you'd be more proactive in self defense.

damn if i was your gf i would have done some fucking damage to those guys, but i understand she's not like that.Just let this go because she doesn't even know who it was.
I suggest your gf be more careful and you try to protect her more and not be messing around with those guys, you really don't want to sink down to their level.
    Good luck to both.

Yeah, fucking with these guys just makes her a target. Bullying, intimidation, molestation and any number of things that end up a " her word against theirs" situation where NOTHING gets done even when reported. It's a mess no girl should have to face. Do a better job looking after your friends than engaging in an ego driven pissing contest with a buncha meatheads.

i agree thing is though if she doesn't stand up for herself they will look at her very weak and they will think its ok to do things to her because they know she wont do anything about it. I say TAKE ACTION! stand up for yourself girl at least those meatheads will see that will not take their shit any longer!

You know I agree with standing up for oneself. But this guy and his buddies have a place in the blame here and a responsibility to get their friends backs.

As the girl or as her friend?

As the girl, knowing I neither have proof nor perfect recall of who harmed me, I've already said I'd change locations, keep my friends close and learn to defend myself.

And as her friend, as I said before, I'd damn well do a better job looking out for my friend and quit engaging in an ego driven pissing contest with a bunch of meatheads.
