I enjoyed the first three books. Great entertainment, but definitely popcorn and I have no desire to read them again. They were also terribly written (I know he has dyslexia, but there is such a thing as an editor...though I understand they can only do so much to prose so bad). I'd be willing to forgive all that, though, if the guy was a decent person. But he comes across as supremely arrogant in interviews. Condescending, preachy, considers his own interpretation the only valid one and calls anyone else stupid, refuses to accept the fact his work is derivative, and seriously considers his pulp fantasy (not that there is anything wrong with pulp fantasy) "philosophical fiction". So after I read the fourth book and hated it, I gave up on the series. I heard the later books sucked anyway. But even if they got better, I really don't like the idea of giving that jerk any more of my money. Still, I have to admit I really did love the first three on the level of pure entertainment.
