sweet toast of mine

mothers love...thank you for that recipe....i am close to sea level here so i will try it out with the full yeast?


...heat...i use butter with jam but NEVER with peanut butter...and if i put jam on my toast i do not like chunks or whole berries ...

..is malt bread a canadian thing...it is available here in most grocery stores..it comes in a round short loaf and is ribbed for easy slicing...it is really moist bread when fresh so when it is toasted and buttered it has an unforgettable texture...every person i have fed malt bread toast to has instantly converted...

I LOVE this shit ...but really avoid it because of the sugar/fat content

 

oh man ..caramel spread....that stuff is so good on toast...my best friend through grade school was andre...total french canadian...his dad was personal manager for a & p...besides the amazing molasses cookies his mom made...they always had caramel spread ...we would eat 6-8 pieces at a sitting each

 

Map-o-spread was pretty awesome too but I think I mapled myself too much when young and it just doesnt have the same appeal anymore

 

i tend to get halfway through those sweet spreads and then move on to something else...kinda in cycles toastwise

Here is one I recently discovered,
onion dill rye with butter and just a suggestion of garlic.
Yum Yum.

 

Butter, then a smidge of Vegemite, then top with avocado...:2thumbsup:

 

Avocado on toast is lovely.

 

Its the perfect way to introduce NON aussies to Vegemite.

The saltiness of the Vegemite perfectly compliments the avo.

 

lol i had to consult my daughter on this stuff...she is much more worldly....i am going to try this one and the dill rye one on tuesday...i will report back...that is as long as i can find the aussie stuff at the store....and i love that screen name...one of my favorite songs of franks... that and bobby brown:mickey:

Not too much vegemite...thats the mistake novices make......just a thin coating is all you need.

My fave is Roman Meal with Country Crock margarine.

Sometimes I add orange marmalade, or strawberry jam.
