absolutely.

rather than dicking with Iraq's affairs, pursuing their oil and setting up KFCs over there, I think we should focus on our own domestic issues, and seriously develop new energy sources, rather than just flirting with the issue in special sessions. We need to stop with the "witch hunt", because we're no closer to finding Bin Laden, or his cohorts who are supposedly behind 9/11; instead, we're playing "standing army" in Iraq (the us military is trained for invasion, not to be a standing army...that's why they're so susceptible to surprise attacks); develop our own military? fine..it's already happening..but this "war" (it's not even a REAL WAR) is just a distraction, there's no justifying it.

I've already said it, and I'll say it again: it's just a big capitalistic game, where the stakes are money, and power.
substitute "democracy" with "capitalism", everytime you hear Bush speak.

apparently, history does repeat itself... our gov't funds and supports foreign regimes, uses media to paint them as bad guys, then spends more money to remove them from power.

 

Capitalism IS freedom for the individual. By spreading democracy and capitalism hand-in-hand is the ONLY way this world can truely advance, and everyone knows it.

The last time I looked, the Chinese were under communist oppression, not a true capitalist system!

 

capitalism and communism are two different things, one is economic system, the other is a political system. you fell right into my trap. go look again.

the point of my statement is Bushco doesn't really give a shit about democracy, or else we'd be trying to overthrow Hugo Chavez. China is open to free trade, therefore, a player in the capitalism game; I don't see us trying to coerce them into democracy.

So freedom's all about money, right? Wrong. People all around me are having their freedoms unjustly taken away by a justice system that's nothing but a profit-making business, just the way Ronald Reagan wanted it. I know it's nice to think that our gov't is just here to protect us, and it's cozy looking at the world from a fishbowl erspective, but it's just not as simple as that.

 

Tell that to the people who were wrongly accused of being Communist and lost their jobs. That's why it is called the Red Scare. Imagine what future generations would write about the happenings of now. BTW, China is becoming more Capitalistic but that is not changing their rule of their people. Marx would not argee that it is Communist, by his definition.

Chavez is a legitimately elected president, whether you like him or not. That's what democracy is supposed to be about. He's a 'bastard' because he stands up to the West and Bush. Democratically elected leaders only have legitimacy if Bush agrees with their policies-otherwise they deserve to be overthrown! What a bunch of hypocrisy!
