Of course it affects us, probably more than any other European country. For the best part of the last decade, British foreign policy has been pegged to the American. Would we be in Iraq if America wasn't? Moreover, American economic policy has a massive effect on the rest of the world, and we're not divorced from that....
yuck. i don't even like hearing about this shit and being influenced by it. i can only imagine how fucking irritating it is for people in other countries who have to deal with it.
Guys, as much as I'm loving the banter, and sorry to put my moderator cap on, it doesn't come on often, but if you could try not to turn all the serious debate threads into jibes and banter, that'd be great. It's always good for a bit, but when it happens in several threads it'll put people off who want to engage in the debate....
apparently you'd like to tell the class what your take on super tuesday is, or at least why it's such a big deal in european nations. does it bother you that you even know anything about it at all? i have to say, i'd be annoyed but resigned.
Well, its not a big deal in my little european nation(s). We dont care much about America or the elections cause we have too many problems of our own to worry about. And I havent really prepared for today
at least someone has some peace. it's all over the place here. i've always thought our election run-up process was WAY too long. by the time the election actually comes around, people are burnt out and burnt up and depressed over all the awfulness of every candidate we have. people either don't show up because they don't see the point, or they do show up basing their vote on ignorant emails of gossip and guesswork.
it's a relentless barrage of complete bullshit for two fucking years. at the end all you know is they're all fucking assholes out for themselves and the big money powers. nothing changes, and all this money gets wasted every time around.
sorry, i just can't take it seriously. i have zero faith in the ability of anyone to change the american process and decisions.
I agree. But its still fun to watch all the idiotic politicians argue. And now that I'm 18 I get to vote.
i love being american, mainly because i am and i like me very much. i think i'm awesome. but i CAN'T WAIT for all this bullshit to be over.
what really got my goat is that the democratic party is supposed to be the non-racist party, the better, fairer morals, the ones who judge based on a person's merits, not skin color or sex and blah blah blah. whatever. they're totally blown that. they're clearly split along racial and sex demographics according to the polls i've seen. that's annoying. and obama, while being sexy on the campaign trail, hasn't actually said ANYTHING. then there's the republicans: huckabee's demon eyes give me nightmares, i'm incredibly NOT FOND of the mormon religion, and mccain. well, hell. all the good ones weren't really ever in the running. and i have to watch this incredibly dissatisfying pile of crap every day until november.
*cough* back to the topic *cough* Dont you care about who the president is? I for one see it as one of the most, if not the most, important jobs in the world America has unrivalled power, ideologically and militarily. The president is also commander in chief of the army. Sure a state, especially america, will act to preserve its own national interest.. But I personally believe the president has great power how to determine these acts... Furthermore.. I dont believe the world would benefit from the destruction of the US!
