I am very sad to hear of Butler's passing.. I knew Butler from the Haight, he was a good brother.

There was someone in here that called himself Butler, I messaged him and asked if he was indeed the same Butler I knew from the Good Earth. He answered back and said he was the same Butler.. then he said to me.. you look sexy.. I knew then he was Not Butler but that crud kid runing around acting stupid..

Butler would have never said that to me like that .. he wouldda grabed me up and hugged the stuffins from me and called me Cakes..good grief.. I am 56 yrs old.. I may look alright for my age, but sexy went down the drain with the wrinkle cream :) No it was not Butler, Butler had more class..

It is fine to want to be like someone but to say your someone who has passed over is a big fat No No and will get you kicked off the wanna be list and onto the asshole jerkoff list.

I would like to go to more fests/gatherings but most of them are so far away, we would have to be gone a week or more to attend them. Sometimes having so much can keep you from just picking up and getting in the wind.. not that we are material people.. we are simple farmers that lead a quiet life..well excpet for the trauma drama that living life brings.. it's just not easy to get out and away.. the spring is when there is the most work to be done..the calfing, kidding, pupping, the plowing, tilling and planting. not to mention the unmentionables :) Then the summer comes and more work to do shreding, weeding, hoeing, picking.. we do take fishing trips to the lake 5 miles down the road, we stay from one to three weeks depending on iffen the fishes are biten, but still close enough to run over and feed or whatever..still I miss the brotherhood that seems to rejuvenate the Spirit. there are not many beautiful people that stays here in this county.

Perhaps I will be able to blast my hubbys roots loose enough to get him to do some traveling soon.

    Bright Blessings to All

No wonder my father gave up the farm and that was only an egg farm. I never realized how much work it was. I was only 7 at the time.

Shameless Heifer, the last time I saw Butler, the real Butler, was at the STP Family Reunion in Oklahoma in 2000. He died a few years ago due to a weird set of medical complications. I believe he had 14 years clean at the time, and I know he would have had no problem whatsoever with me saying that. He was an awesome bro who helped change a lot of people's lives.

Safety Pin, beats me, some of us just kinda landed here. Austin was always a hangout for a lot of us in the old days so I guess some of us just gravitated back here.

Hippiestead, sent you a PM about Old Settlers.

Luvione, here's a big cyber hug. How's the new grandkid? Y'all need to come over and hang out some night.

    Hope everyone's doing great!

It's refreshing to hear a bunch of old time radicals doing their own thing.

Here's something that might interest you. A North Easter has hit New Jersey today; that's where I live. It's supposed to go on all day today and clear out tomorrow. I haven't even looked out the window yet but from the sound of it there doesn't seem to be as much wind as I expected. A lota rain though, wouldn't be a nor'easter without it!

And to think the only time I ever visited the STPers in their Loft on third street in the city back in the day, they guffawed, (not to my face, of course) that I looked like some kind of collegiate dude. Who's having the last laugh now, Little John.

NOTE: the pot I bought from them was OK though, so I didn't really care whether they thought I was collegiate looking or not.

Real shame you never went to High school though, Little John. You missed out on a whole lot. The entire experience was of so little significance to me that I can actually remember some of it. I can understand how you might feel though, when you miss out on something that practically everyone else has done, it can be painful to think about.

I live in Highland Park NJ, one town over and across the Raritan river from New Brunswick, home of Rutgers University.

So So sorry that Butlers crossing has happened. He was a good man and in fact he had to deal with so so much more than many. The place he and Nancy moved into after my Bus was a place in (Springfield) Orygun as I recall. It burned down and two of the Children were in the house and they could not get them in time. Talk about having to deal with THINGS!

Take care Butler I will spill a bit more on the earth for you too! NON alchol but shareing still with all on the other side.

I think I asked you before...For some reason I remember the place on 2nd street but it has been a long time gone now and third is only one block over. No matter kept the weather off my YOUNG ass when I was pulled in for the week and fed both mind and body. Then moved on to Boulder and on ,on, on,................

    ChrisWah,

I always say you can never be certain about anything, but I'm almost sure it was third street; the Hells Angels had their club house on the same block. Third street, between first and second Avenues.

You might be confusing 2nd street with 2nd Avenue. Second Ave was where Ratners was and on the other side, the abandoned Anderson theater. 2nd Ave was where a lot of hippies hung out when they were on the street. It was more of a business area then residential though. The Village Project was on 2nd Avenue.

Course I could be wrong about all this.

I've been accused of monopolizing groups. I don't mean to do it; just can't help myself. So, what is the STP version of the song, "There's an Invitation Around the Nation." Is it, "there's an invitation around the nation for 'dancing' in the street" or is it, "there's an invitation around the nation for 'fighting' in the street."

Personally, I use them interchangeably, but since I can't dance anymore, I've been thinking more along the fighting lines. I like dancing too and I guess it's obvious how I feel about fighting, or not. ...'Shame what my life has come to, isn't it!

Who is this guy scootertrampphoto, anyway? He claims to be part of the STP Family, but he says he's an ex-marine. Plus that, he say he wants to know where all these STPers that he once knew in Boulder and other parts are, but no STPers know him.

Now he's dropped off the site and here I am wasting my time trying to establish a connection to some old fart, (a little too old to have been in the STP Family), who doesn't even know who he is, and neither does anybody else!

He signed his post "Cliff," but he never said anything about being a marine, did he? Sounds like a man without a family.

I met him on another chat site in which some dude who claimed to be a biker, and who said he was in Boulder back in the day was trashing the Family.

Here's a direct quote from one of scootertrampphoto's/Cliff's posts on that site:

"Speaking for myself, my father was an offical for the goverment, with the Atomic Energy Commission. That is about as far right as you can get. He thought that I was a "commie" and that I should go back into the Marine Corp. and get my thinking straight."

The quote is taken out of context but it doesn't need to be in context to make it clear that he had been in the marine core.

When Steve & Mona & I lived together on East 11th St., Steve used to wear a hunting knife in a sheath. That's a little unconventional even among STPers, isn't it, but not entirely unacceptable.

Although you don't deserve a response Snoopy, Yeah, it was from the Chatterbox site. So what!
