Talentless? Right. You may not like Nirvana, lord knows I'm not the biggest fan, but seriously? He's an excellent songwriter with a great ear for melody who can write a damn good chorus. If you'd heard Bleach or Intesticide, or hell, anything besides Lithium and Smells Like Teen Spirit you'd know that.

 

well i listened to mr cobain there when i was in middle school, so i believe my taste in music has evolved. i dont wanna toot my own horn here but i think i have great taste in music, fuck that, awsome taste in music. if your still listening to kurt cobain then damn i have to introduce YOU to some bands nigguh!

10 well as you can see my musical taste is very diverse and i have moved on from curt cobain after um, like the sixth grade. u should too.

 

I can agree with artists like beck and pink floyd but the rest are shit. And i really dont need any help, believe me . I know what music i like and nirvana isnt my favorite band but they were extremely influental when I was depressed in high school. Yeah, I've graduated and shit but their music is still special to me because they made it feel like i wasnt alone. If you dont like nirvana it's probably because youve never ever felt completely alone in your life. Kurt cobain's chilling and tortured voice spoke to anyone who thought the world just gave up on them. It gave me the feeling that atleast somebody understood. He gave power to people who felt like it was them against the world.

Everyone gets new musical tastes, I haven't listened to Sublime in years but just because i don't anymore doesn't mean i think they-re shit... Music is not a fad or a fashion accessory, If you really love it it will be in you forever.

I cut my musical teeth on Pearl Jam and Nirvana so did alot of the bands you just listed too...

This thread is akin to any thread bashing Dylan or bashing the Beatles... When enough people put someone on a pedestal, people will want to tear them down...

Kurt was a fantastic songwriter who poured energy into his music. And as far as I can tell when I look at him performing, it all was real... you see a lot of bands nowadays jumping around on stage trying to act like the WHO did or Nirvana or whatever.. and a lot of the those bands make it an act, you can tell when Cobain threw himself into a drum set or Hendrix lit a guitar on fire that it was no act.

But you might not like Nirvana's music,, that's fine.. but making wild claims about how they are shitty or how bad of a musician or songwriter or whatever is the same mindset when you hear people of the older generation say that "rap isn't music"... just because you don't hear it, doesn't mean it isn't there.
