You realise a corporation is just a business model and that lower-cost labor is just a result of market forces that aren't controlled by government regulations?
Welcome to the real world dood, we know all about that, hey pull up a whiskey and siddown lets talk. Ok I'll go first. First off what the hell world do you think this is? thats how us capitalists make our money. You got no brains so I employ you to make money for me. You get in da way of my bigass bottling plant making money and my gangster partners that I have to pay for protection money aint going to be very pleased because I have to pay them. If I dont pay them they shoot me, if I cant pay them, they shoot whoever is standing in my way. The mans want keep me alive because I got knowhow to run da plant. they kill me the factory dies. Capiche! well what can you do? you go to the government and complain, bang you die? why because the government is the mafia my son oh yes ! the factory owners pay their bribes and corruption money, or they die and if some sorry workers cause trouble they die. Same here, but its more like they just set the press on to you, and do everything they can to stop you. Only if you actually get in the way of the government do they execute you here It aint the man who owns that plant that kills them its the people the factory owner has to pay that does the killing. He cant pay because of a strike, they kill the striker. He dont pay cuz he dont wanna pay they shoot him.
Basically, working in those plants sucks but working in fields for less money sucks more. Paying more money for those workers means someone else will pay less and have a cheaper product and drive the higher paid employeed company out of business. Do you people really not see this? It's great you want them to be paid more but it's impossible because there are finite resources in the world.
No, economics is not a science, no matter how much empirical mumbo-jumbo and quantitave data you toss out. Economists have no clue what the market is going to do tomorrow; they simply have their little dartboards with the "Red" and "Black" color coded areas.
No, I didn't "realise" that. What I do realize is, according to the Supreme Court [Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company, 1886], is that a corporation is a person with the same 14th amendment rights as you or I. So, it is a person, not a business model. And it's not the result of "market forces" but of greedy assholes.
I'm not hip. I have never claimed to be a hippie in my life. These forums are not about hippies. Get it. I'm posting here because my hips hurt, it is the hip forums, after all
Then it's time for you to get off your ass and do something constructive with your life besides smoking crack.
Awesome. As soon as anybody makes a point, you turn to an ad hominum logical fallacy. Way to show your economic logic and rhetorical strength.
Wasn't Nixon representaive of his administration? He was elected. Ford took over, after he left... a vice president that was never elected by the people. Nixon's funeral was attended by many heads of state and the media covered it like he was a rock star. Reagan followed many of his policies and the republican party thought they had lost a major player. Enron and World Com were indicative of the state of business at the time. Companies have now learned to cover their tracks and protect themselves from discovery. Are you saying these overpaid executives have the interests of their nation or the people working there as a priority? Executives are paid out of company revenues and assets, not from the pockets of governing boards.
Perhaps you'd like to explain this to the workers who lost their jobs at Ford: http://money.cnn.com/2007/04/05/news/companies/ford_execpay/index.htm What about the huge salaries paid to athletes? Some of who work for losing teams or sit on the bench. Why not pay the average working man a living wage when he performs the necessary duties/labor to produce actual goods? Why is his effort less valuable than that of "stars", who fail to produce? Wouldn't cutting upper level compensation allow for more equitable payment for goods produced, leveling overhead?
It depends on what you deem unskilled labour. Companies/corporations tend to lump all underlings as unskilled. Perhaps, the common man should walk away and let the highly paid skilled workers/executives take over production?
No, unskilled labour is a well-defined term. It includes labour that includes little to no education or training. ie: the Sweat-shops in question here.
ROTFLMAO I don't care what you quote from me, its all funny, and its even better how you call yourself a hippie. I often have thought that titles where given to you, not appointed by yourself. And I'm sure it goes much like this, A true hippie never admits that he is a hippie only that he is a free mind. And if that is true, then my friend, you are quite the opposite.
