Unless you have your own well, water that comes out of the tap DOES have chemicals in it, namely chlorine and in most municipalities flouride (a carcinogen).

I don't really drink soda too often, and if I do it's not usually the multi-national conglomerates, tea is much healthier...

No one in my family buys/wears diamonds.

As far as pharmaceuticals go, I think less is better, and if their is a viable natural remedy I always go with that, however I do give my kids otc pain relievers when needed, I am trying to do the 81mg Aspirin regimen (if I can remember to take it) because it does cut the risk of heart attack by like 33%, and I want to live as long as possible. If anything comes up in the future that requires me, my wife, or my kids to be on some type of pharmaceutical, we'll take it, life is precious in all forms, I agree with that, including my own...........so i'm not going to die to make a point.

Apart from the fact that that you pay for it and it's packed full of chemicals, you're spot on.

    Water isn't a chemical maaaaaaan.

*sips iced vodka and coke, laced with aspirin*

I love the idea of a hippy now refusing to buy diamonds.. I take it you were a large diamond trader before then?

The taste of coke is just plain nasty, in my opinion. Even if their conditions were decent, that taste would still turn me off. Juice is much better for the body and tastes delicious.

LOL...Plato and his little band of Greek elites sat around all day thinking deep philosophical thoughts because they had a whole crapload of slaves doing all the work. The Athenians developed the first large organized slave culture for that purpose. The also supported the idea of tossing undesirable (read: blind, slightly deformed) or unwanted (read: female) babies down wells or leaving them out in the woods to get eaten by wild animals. Greeks my ass.

Well.. I don't even like Coke.. I think diamonds are too snobbish looking for my personal taste, and while I don't like taking chemical medicines- I suffer from chronic migraines and a good Exedrin from time to time helps. But mind if I ask where all this info came from?

I love coke, pepsi, mt dew, mello yello... and reguardless to my personal beliefs about corruption in africa and all the dirty corperations mining diamonds and Bayer giving away old pills... boo hoo. Man if you had a clue about the serious issues affecting you every day you would be discussing things like STARVATION, RAPE, MURDER... You know, real crimes against humanity. I garuntee that if you look around, right there in your home town, you will find more dirt than in any bottling factory.

Drink all the pop you want, and when you need new teeth, enjoy giving all your money to the local dentist.

Oh.. and those real crimes against humanity? Do you understand what is going on in Africa in the areas they mine these diamonds? Or are Africans just not included in your definition of humanity?

Well since I didn't boycott PepsiCo, I can still by Crest and brush my pearly whites. Its common sense. Besides, apple juice is just as harmful to your teeth enamel as coca cola. Come on now.

Oh sure, I've been under a fucking rock for the past 10 years.

Very witty attempt to make me look like I'm a careless dick. The concerns brought up in the begining of this topic were baseless and vauge. I was simply pointing out that to find something that needs fixed you need not look to Africa, because it is much closer than that.

I don't drink much pop and I only wear my diamond tiara on Tuesdays.

There is a huge AIDS problem in Africa. There is no cure, so YES there will be experimental drugs. It's a big crap shoot. These people know that they are getting a cocktail that may or may not work, but it's better than sitting there waiting to die.
My uncle died of AIDS right here in Canada, and he took any experimental drug they offered....who are you to take a that away from dying people?

Also, chlorine in city water is a whole lot better than disease and dysentery. My city doesn't put flouride in the water.

    This is beyond idiotic.

Would you rather see no coke factories in South America or mines in South Africa, resulting in starvation and unemployment?

Would you rather not have ANY free medicine in Africa?

Yes, the world is messed up and people make a profit off others without any morals... but at least someone is giving these people jobs and someone is giving out free medication.

    Grow up.

Um, aren't people already starving and unemployed in these countries? What kind of jackass do you have to be to refuse to not buy coffee, or diamonds, or some other shit that is made basically with slave labor, to help ensure that these people might actually be treated like people. You and I have had this argument before, and it doesn't suprise me that a spoiled rich boy from honduras (which is known worldwide for its child labor sweatshops) isn't going to condemn his bread and butter. Its easy for someone like you to take pictures of himself traveling around the world with a bright brilliant smile, while others are suffering, starving, and being worked to death and have NOTHING to show for it. From someone like you, who honestly believes that some 11 year old kid is damn lucky to get a job working 18 hours a day ("he's lucky he's got a job at all!", remember?) so someone like you can take it easy. I'd like to see you do the work they do, and live like they live, and then come back here and tell these people what idiots they are for wanting to take ALL that away from them.

By the way, I noticed you're a mod now. I don't know how quick you are to ban folks now, but before you try let me just say I don't think very much of a mod who refers to people who have a little faith and hope, who are TRYING to do the right thing, care for the welfare of others and all, as idiots and hurl insults at them. Sounds like you're the one who needs to grow up.

moonshyne: you're right about the "spoiled rich kid" syndrome. I'm surprised Rich Sir Robin didn't say "let them eat cake."
