OH Gas the thing that has me laughing all the time here is the lengths right wing libertarians will go to get out of addressing the many flaws in their arguments.
So I gather from that statement that you assume that I am a "right wing libertarian" ? You're not very bright are you? I have never made any proclamations concerning any political affiliations nor do I even give a shit, but you have once again shown how small minded and intellectually myopic you are because of course everybody MUST fit into your convenient categorization. Poor Balbus and StpLSD25, lost and confused without labels.
How poor must a moderator be to make threats against those who disagree with them or point out their flaws?
so I should be silenced, is that what you are implying? Ok, let me ask you a question that I have asked before with no answer; Why the obsession with America and American politics, all of which focuses on the negative or skews everything into a negative perspective. Why not focus on issues within your own country? The UK certainly is far from an idealistic paradise I'm sure, but don't really know from an experiential viewpoint as I don't live there daily, much the same as your views are limited and myopic because you do not live here and do not understand any of what you speak of from an experiential viewpoint, yet make proclamations as if you and you alone "understand" and can decipher American politics for the rest of us. and what is with the need and compulsion to categorize everyone into tidy little boxes???? The need to do such usually speaks more to the inability of the person to think fluidly and deal with unknowns in life and usually belies a rather judgmental personality. It is much easier to differentiate between "us" and "them" and pass judgement when you cram people into convenient classifications. Many people here at Hip don't care for me it seems because I usually "read between the lines" and eek out the intentions and motives behind the words on the screen. So what are your intentions and motives Balbus, because reading between the lines, it appears you are just bitter and envious to a degree and just need to find someone to blame. :mickey:
gas No that is not what I'm implying I'm just asking you not to be insulting. (you do have form on this) But I’ve answered that many, many times…
I think your focus misses the sponsoring motive for all of the phenomenal results that you from a certain perspective accurately portray. It is the proprietary model that sponsors these excesses and that model is european.
Letlovin Ok here is a recent reply I gave to RIP - Oh well, I’ll try and explain – it’s been said that if America sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold. People can argue over the ‘decline’ of US influence but it is still a major influence in the world, what happens in the US can have major repercussions around the world. And here is something I posted to someone about not living in the US. As to why I’d want to understand things, why not? I mean are you arguing that people should only be allowed to study the place were they actually live and have direct exposure to? That would mean a lot of academic and scientific inquiry would be stumped. A virologist wouldn’t be allowed to study a virus that wasn’t native to his own country, astronomy would be impossible and so would history (the past being a foreign country as the saying goes). I mean are you honestly saying that it’s not what someone says but there nationality that is important to you and dictate who you will talk to? I suppose it is fine to be so nationalistic but as a left winger and an internationalist I find the nationalist viewpoint rather limiting and close minded. I can give the links if you wish
that is all well and good Balbus and of course a person can study and discuss any area of interest they like. My only thing is what I already stated earlier; all such posts and threads from you on the topic have become thinly veiled "whining" about America. Rather than taking a neutral stance as you would have us believe you operate from, you always turn it into a "blame America" campaign. or at least that is the general impression I get from you myself and apparently many other members feel the same. Then anyone such as myself who questions your motives or tactics immediately gets slapped with some label so you can place them into a tidy little box and declare your inane and pompous proclamations about these little people you have categorized. p.s., calling someone such as myself who doesn't give a crap about all the little political cliques a member of a political party as a means of insult just makes you look silly and has no effect on the recipient except I chuckle a little.
In all fairness I always interpreted Balbus as blaming certain right wing ideologies for problems within the United States, as opposed to blaming the United States as a whole.
