A couple of responses bring back memories from VN, when more than once I was told "We don't hate Americans, we hate your government.", but the OP both questions and makes an excellent point. I have no problem now living peacefully among many who freely admit that we once may have confronted each other violently. Sort of promotes the idea that people not governments are the creators of peaceful societies.
If you are referring to me, Oscar, I am an Atheist and a former US Marine. I did serve 2 tours in Vietnam and do not recall many of my comrades praying and such. Just got out there and kicked ass and did not waste time with such nonsense. I guess there were a few. I did not have anything against those who did, And this red dot stuff. Well, I never was a butt kisser and frankly take some pride in that. I am not on this planet to suck up to dickheads or see how many people I can please. ...Oscar
I always suspected there was something off about you [dutch] guys. I guess it was the lightsabers and cool powers coupled with a strict code of conduct. At least now I know what that's all about!
And by becoming politicians they can acquire immunity from most all their criminal activities, with rare exceptions of course. They do have to keep up appearances occasionally.
Well know this: Kurdish women have far more courage than you band of sissies: Check out this photo of Kurdish women preparing to do battle with Obama backed moslem brotherhood here: https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2013/08/31/18742429.php If you look closely one of these women looks no more than 15 years old. ...Oscar
^^ If I thought you were even partly rational I would point out The Muslim Brotherhood are in Egypt, not Syria, and aren't even mentioned in your link. Ignorant and annoying.
Gas Thank you for this it highlights the big problem with a lot of right wing politics – it prefers slogans to actually tackling the real issues. Stop blaming America for everything But the problem is that I place criticism where I think criticism is due – but being unable to address the criticisms you shout a slogan - Stop blaming America for everything – in the hope that no one will notice that you are unable to address the criticisms. I’d say in sloganest reply - stop evading and begin addressing Because that is all this is evasion.
Gas People make mistakes nations make mistakes, but only by discussing those mistakes can we ever hope of stopping the same mistakes being taken again. But you seemingly don’t want to stop making mistakes you just want to shout - Stop blaming America for everything- in the hope of silencing all criticism and brushing mistakes under the carpet, so no one learns and mistake can follow mistake and the people of the world and of America pay for those mistakes.
I post my arguments and criticisms openly and anyone can discuss them and address them or through reasoned and rational argument refute them. But so often instead of doing that the right wingers bitch and snipe and moan – because in thread after thread they are incapable of refuting so many criticisms of their ideas Shouting - Stop blaming America for everything- doesn’t make the criticisms go away it just further highlights that there right wing doctrines have no real counter arguments to criticism.
Oscar A lot of the problems with the US and in the world today go back to mistakes successive US governments make in the so called ‘cold war’. I’m going to have to generalise here and it doesn’t cover everything but… It brought about a situation where any left wing thought became associated with hard-line communism. In the world Often reforming left leaning leaders were overthrown because they were seen as ‘communist’ and anyone however brutal could get US support by claiming to be ‘ant-communist’. For example involvement in many Caribbean and Latin American states has brought about poverty dictatorial rule and war. (Red Heat: Conspiracy, Murder and the Cold War in the Caribbean by Alex von Tunzelmann). And involvement in the overthrow of the elected government of Mohammed Mossadegh and the imposing of the brutal Shah’s rule sewed the seed for the Iran of today. (All the Shah's Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror by Stephen Kinzer) And in Vietnam backing the French colonists rather backing Vietnamese Independence lead to the war in the region. Later involvement in Afghanistan to well need I go on… In the US The red scare of the 40-50’s basically purged the US of mainstream left wing thought (McCarthyism, Un-American committee) so in US politics there was no real pull from the left, which I think has badly affected the US political system. The US became a militarized society, with vast sums going to what became the military-industrial complex (that morphed into crony capitalism). Anyway I could and I have gone on about these things in many threads.
 Balbus.... lighten up and go buy a sense of humor for God's sake. I personally am not all that excited about politics, but I do browse through the various topics. What I have noticed is that regardless of who, what or where, Balbus will always manage to find some way to "blame America", that's what you do. Frankly it is old and tired and just amounts to :beatdeadhorse5:after a while. All well and good, you are entitled to your opinion, as am I entitled to mine concerning the one note song you sing. :mickey:
