I've always classified pot as a mild hallucinogen. Not because Ive read a study on it or anything, but thats just what makes sense to me. It enhances and distorts the senses and alters the way we perceive things...which is essentially what any psychedelic does.
weed is a hallucinogen. fact. I really don't feel like getting into it, but the harm that comes out of smoking weed is the actual smoke. tar, carbon monoxide. however, the anti-cancerous properties of cannabinoids offset the risk of inhaling carbons and burning plant matter. there's also the risk of bringing out latent emotional problems. if you want to be safe, vaporize or eat it. and if you are still that concerned, put down the herbs and take up knitting or something. and to get back on topic, I'm a paralegal and freelance writer. before that I was an ASE master certified auto technician. and I smoke chronic basically all day, every day. I've known plenty of successful smokers.
It would be nice if we could convince all of the us or the majority of the us that pot is good. I go to school and work high. When i go to work high i get more work done than on an average day when i go to school high i just do much better. I work at a re-sale shop and the majority of the people there are in college or school of some sort and they are smokers.
Um, weed does not make you more efficient with work or any more astute in school, that is straight bullshit Jas, sure you may do just fine while high in those situations, but that is definitely not equivalent with doing better whilst under the influence. Sure I smoke all day every day, and I realize that I am putting myself at a disadvantage by doing so, but I PREFER being high throughout my activities, and as long as I complete them successfully and safely there shouldn't be a problem with that since I am not at all responsible at the moment for anyone except myself. In any position where you must make decisions that affect other people profoundly please try not to be ripped for the sake of those around you. Pot simply doesn't make you better at something that you do, nor should it affect what you do negatively. Anything you do sober you should be able to do high, but that doesn't mean you SHOULD do it high, and that's where people fail most often. Cannabis is not a hallucinogen, nor is it a depressant, nor a stimulant, it is simply cannabis and has a range of effects entailing bits of all the other drug classifications, but still making it uniquely cannabis
Cannabis is definitely performance enhancing to some people. you should see what it does for my ADHD symptoms. if it calms a person's mind and allows them to focus, they can definitely attribute herb use to direct success in school or work. and it is a hallucinogen. at least according to official classification.
well i think it can help with adhd and such, but i don't think performance is alawys benefitted...well i guess i do, but it depends. when i was in school i could write rough drafts for papers high, but final drafts I needed to be sober I LOVED LOVED LOVED studying spanish and arabic high...i was more passionate, and i think my brain processed things better while high...now even though i think my processing of another language became more efficient, i was probably still doing it slower than i would have if i had been sober or on ADD meds....though combining add meds and pot and you have the best solution to life
Deviate, to me is the difference between getting high and medicating, some people can have their performance enhanced by cannabis, but for most of the marijuana using population that just isn't the case. According to official classification it is either a little bit of all of the classifications or simply cannabis, and a little bit of all doesn't make sense to most since something that is both a depressant and a stimulant seems quite illogical in theory, though it is entirely truthful.
it increases heart rate, but can feel like a depressant. as far as I know it doesn't depress the CNS at all. I'll have to find some links for you. it is definitely classified with hallucinogens among the medical community, but I've seen it classified alone as well.
Yea, you may hallucinate while being dehydrated and dying. I'm pretty sure that's a different "high" than any drugs you'll take. Totally nonsensical comparison of apples and oranges.
I disagree. Weed affects everyone differently. It's a sweeping generalization to say it has no performance enhancing abilities for anyone. I've never been clinically diagnosed with ADD or ADHD but my ability to focus and pay attention to detail is amplified x100 when stoned. I also have more physical energy and drive/desire/passion to get things done, when sober I am depressed, lazy, in pain, and at best, apathetic toward daily goals. I attribute this mostly to the fact that I'm not bored off my ass or in moderate constant pain while stoned. It makes everything seem more important to me and 100 times more interesting so I'm more inclined to commit to things with full effort and get them finished, but perhaps this is further evidence of weed's medicinal and therapeutic qualities. Well said, I agree 100%. I don't know about that. Weed is indeed a highly psychoactive substance, or hallucinogen if you will, that can be agreed it produces effects reminiscent of psychedelic activity, but it is not a full on PSYCHEDELIC DRUG like some are claiming.
i have a friend that was diagnosed with ADHD (although I don't really think its ADHD, he's absolutely brilliant and adhd is an easy label to apply to someone that is smarter than the doctors trying to diagnose him) and he goes absolutely crazy if he doesn't smoke pot. It slows down his brain just enough to function in society like a normal person. I disagree. I think it depends on the person and also it depends on the job or the subject of study. If I want to do something creative, I definitely perform much better while high. When I was in school, I always wrote better papers while high because weed enhances my critical thinking skills and allows for more freedom and creativity with the wording. Also when I'm doing something physically active I perform better when I'm high just because weed makes being outdoors more enjoyable. When I go to work high I feel more focused and also more introverted, so i'm less likely to chat the day away and more likely to focus on the task at hand. Also, when i'm at work and my body feels like shit, the day just drags and I definitely don't work very efficiently. But weed has so many medicinal properties..if I don't feel up to par and I smoke, my body feels 10 times better and I can go to work and actually work instead of feeling bad all day. lets face it...pot makes EVERYTHING better. in my humble opinion

On the origanl topic. I used to sell and many of my custies were sucessfull profesionals, including a bunch of lawyers who all worked at one of the top firms in the US, and several I-bankers and investment managers from one of the largest firms in the world. The reality is that people like this won't "come out of the closet" even if weed is legal because the are afraid of scareing away clients.
