Here's my take on that...from someone that had to put up with all manner of people finding their way to take advantage of my good nature over the years...before I got married, after I separated from my husband, and before I moved back here.

Even if things started out ok, they NEVER and I really mean never worked out. They would either do a combination of the following or all of them: not contribute to food costs or rent, be messy and not clean after themselves, expect me to cook for them and/or provide their meals since I made sure my son ate. (This was especially bad before I got married and had a child!) People not understanding my place was NOT going to be their permanent residence was unusually difficult to get across to some people. smdh

I discovered that I would lay it out to start with that they were required to pay a certain amount of rent, either buy their own food or contribute to my food costs, they MUST clean up after themselves, and unless I was made aware of it...they were NOT to just have people just start coming over (one person, in their room was okay) and most importantly...THIS WAS NOT GOING TO BE PERMANENT. No matter how well I stated all of this...people did NOT NOT NOT get it. It was like regardless of what I said - they took my situation to be that I was making it on my own, and there was no reason I couldn't continue to with their presence, and at times supporting them! hmmmm

I found I was able (after a few mishaps) to lay the damn law down, and stick with it. It takes a bit, but I'm able to be very mean and rude. and I would absolutely make them so miserable so they would feel like the best thing they could do for themselves was to get the hell out. I truly hate being like that...but I hate worse putting up with an ass that wants a free ride, and that would stop me from being myself totally in my own house. Also - I came across any number of people that weren't even staying there that would think they could help themselves to my weed if I wasn't in the room. Now - THAT DID NOT WORK AT ALL and they found that out with quickness.

There is no way in heaven nor hell I would ever take in another person...I don't care if I had a 20 room mansion. I would either give them their own wing where they had to support themselves...or it would be only for me, my cats and my son whenever he wanted to be there.

Maybe the girl just needs you to advise her to find her own place especially since you know she is able financially to support herself since she works.
