it seems like you think every german soldier needs to take some blame for the holocaust ...and I really dont know much about ww2....I faked my way through high school with good math and charm

 

That was what was so chilling about the Holocaust though, the fact that so many decent people went along with it

(I'm just speaking generally here and am not trying to comment personally on anyone's family history)

 

I have not been talking or been busy about blame at all. You (and Irms too in the past) are sadly mistaken there.
If someone mentions this stuff regularly on here anybody has the right to ask for where that person exactly is coming from with it. Most people would do this in a very judgemental way, which is why its automatically interpreted like that, I get it. But I leave that entirely open.
I want people to own their shit.

I'm also getting tired of a reaction like this getting seen as a personal attack or getting personal for no good reason. Hey, the other person likes mentioning her grandpa in this exact context. It's already a personal subject. I didn't bring it up. But if I react to it I'm getting too personal? Fuck that shit.

 

Another good run in the truck today. 3rd place. 2 aliens in front of me not far away. Man my old team is gonna be pissed I left, just running with these guys helps so much, I've improved a lot. Even though I don't have a win yet, my average finish when I haven't been wrecked is sky rocket to top 5s. I just need that luck where these two fast guys have bad luck and I'll be right there to get them.

 

Not so sure how many actually knew what the final outcome for the Jews was, while it was going on...

dosing high on butter .. I usually reach for the mortin and tylonol . havent for at least a week now, like I forgot they are there

 

Something happened in that race that hasn't happen for 6 months... I worked up a huge sweat lol. My singlet top is all damp and wet. It's a work out sometimes sawing that wheel. So much adrenaline, so my anxiety. I admitted to my team that I'm shaking before restarts but when I put my foot down it all goes away.

 

I'm just getting enough of me bringing blame into it when I explicitly avoid that. We touched on this before (not you, but Irms) and all kinds of ad hominem assumptions get made and a victim role gets assumed. But yeah, I never start bringing the subject up out of the blue. She mentions such things very coy. So letting her know how it comes across or asking for specifics in a reaction is nothing nasty or malicious.
Pretending that I don't allow such thoughts to be expressed really takes the cake. If I (or anybody really) would stop giving my 2 cents in response who is the one censuring themselves? I respectfully pass for that shit.

 

Here's the last thing I wanna add about this (unless she cares to reply constructively ):
I don't question stuff like all the pics she shares of german WW2 soldiers looking casually etc. at all (on the contrary, I appreciate it from a historic perspective). Nor an interest in that side of WW2 (esp not if one has family involved in it), and neither that she prefers to play that side in video games (i might as well). And in the context of such a game a remark about killing allied soldiers is no problemo.

What I question and react to is (seemingly) declarations of sympathy or pride for what the german army during WW2 did, which imo can't be set apart from their cause. Same with theories of alledged ethnic superiority based on skull analyses. And conscious efforts to trivialize what the third reich and many of the people in it have caused. I personally don't mind if people are vocal about this (but Irms and me both know a lot of other people do), except when they dance around it and don't own what they're hinting at. I in fact applaud people being vocal about these thoughts.
I'm not making her look like anything (her accusing feedback), I'm responding to how she makes herself come across at times.
