I used to be more in shape too. Not by overindulging in food but mainly because of too less good and regular physical activity. I don't like to run from my new place downtown (used to live almost next to a park). I feel some motivation but am not acting on it yet. Don't know exactly what I want to do i guess. I'm crazy enough to try Pilates in my living room while getting yelled at by an instructor in a youtube vid though

Okay well I was going to post this in the Greta thread following the declarations of misanthropy, but since all that conversation is gone and the misanthropes all hang out here..

Also I was going to reply to your post in the other thread, rue...but I dont remember exactly what I was going to say, something along the lines of how I know humans can be amazing. Humans are okay. Sometimes

I know you don't really qualify as a misanthrope.
I used to align exactly with what you're saying.
But over time I have come to feel that even the ones who seem to be the problem are still beautiful.
The fact it's harder to see that doesn't change it.
Hating them hasn't helped, anyway. So might as well try loving them.

 

I've actually banned myself from using the word "amazing", as a kind of challenge, as fisherman pointed out I use it too easily.. And he knows how I hate hyperbolic use of words. Like how people use awesome. So even if something IS amazing I have to think of a different word.

 

I've been trying to use awesome less.
I read a piece written by an Irishman once who said that was a dead giveaway when a tourist was from America - because Americans overuse the word awesome. So I've felt a little self conscious about it ever since

Oh yeah, there are amazing and awesome things in the world.
But I had picked up awesome too..
And it's like.. What Greta is doing is awesome. The power of the sun is awesome. That sandwich was awesome.
All meaning lost. I like people with varied vocabulary.

I like the word awesome. There is a lot of different slang between generations and subcultures here but awesome seems to be a word relatable to most everyone.

 

Awesome is an über word.

 

What word would you use to distinguish something truly awe inspiring?

 

I'd totally disagree it was relatable across generations..
Maybe in America.
