There was talk about armed protests in all 50 state capitols & D.C., but steps have been taken to prevent it. Trump was coerced somehow into releasing a statement denouncing violence and police and national guard troops have been deployed. And by delaying the impeachment trial in the Senate until after the inauguration it discourages any further riots. Mitch McConnell has said he's undecided on whether to vote for impeachment, and if there's more violence on Trump's behalf he could vote to convict, and McConnell certainly has a lot of influence over other Republican Senators. If he can get just 17 of them to vote for impeachment then Trump will be the first President successfully impeached and can officially never hold office again.

Anyway we'll find out in the next couple days if the insurrection continues.

Steps have been taken to protect the state capitol buildings and grounds, and the National Guard is at the ready in most states. You can't prevent the protest. (first amendment rights and all that)

So these guys will just protest in the street in front of the state capitol in 50 states... "But you can't run them over with your truck" because.... Ummmm, I don't know, actually. (Part of the "stand your ground" law that was just passed in Ohio allows you to run down protesters if you feel threatened...) They might want to reconsider that portion of the law... But, well... it's too late.
