basically limewire is borrowing CDs, but its world wide. Its a file sharing site. I use it all the time. To me it just feels wrong to steal a CD from a store, maybe because its personal; you can look the store owner in the eye and know that (most likely) his income depends on the store's success. And I also think that the artist shouldn't be interested in money too much either, they should make enough money off concerts and t-shirts or whatever.

I don't see downloading mp3's as stealing. And I don't like cd's. Haha, makes it easy for me. :)

I can't believe someone is actually preaching against downloading music.

    It's music man...

Like others said... music is free, no matter what. It is truly disgusting that we have to pay for something as beautiful and humane as music, something that bonds people together.

The musicians do not get most of the record money, the record companies do.

    I don't like record companies.

I also happen to think that musicians are overpaid.

You cannot compare music to a painting or a sculpture. Extremely different things, yessir.

Man, I'm more than happy to download music.

okay. limewire is only illegal if you
    1. share the songs you download. it makes it easier for the FCC to see what you have downloaded. and you can get caught and...
    2. if you burn your limewire songs onto a CD... and you get caught... you get fined 1000 dollars per song. it happened to a 13 year old once. they'll do it to anybody.

I can't stand people who want to download a lot of songs from me and don't share stuff at all. That's not what musicsharing is about and I generally stop them from downloading right away.

you are not only 'barrowing' the music from the site. you are also 'barrowing' what ever else is within that file that you downloading from someone elses computer. so you get your music at your own risk. i perfer to get the actual cd from someone and make a copy for myself. but to each their own.

There are still lots of little indie music companies that are barely scraping together enough money to remain in existence. The musicians on such labels are barely making any money. I happen to know and have known several musicians like this. I think a person has a right to earn a living from their profession. I think its totally uncool not to support people in that position, that creates the music you love. Make your own music if you think it should be free.
