...that is an unpopular opinion because it isn't true. Bands with money pay for their students to go to universities. Bands without don't. Metis get some amount of money paid, but it isn't a free ride. And yes, there is help in the form of additional scholarships/bursaries - but if you've ever spent time on a reserve, you wouldn't be jealous.
im not religious and was able to be married at the same place I had my reception, by a non-religious official. as long as you sign the legal papers, doesn't matter where you are or who marries you.
^ I admit I don't know very much about marraige laws or practices, besides what I see around me and my perception of the "norm." I'm pretty sure a lot of people out there think you have to get married by a Minister. I was under the assumption that it had to be carried out by a minister, sea boat captain in international waters, or by a judge to be credited.
Again, totally agreed. The amount of hypocrisy in most mainstream organised relligions is ridiculous. Even at a young age, I was aware of this (due to being sent to a catholic school, even though I was never baptised... so that meant much fun for me, not!), which I think was definitely a factor in me being turned off by religion at an early age.
here they have to be registered with the province (I think, maybe it's federal), but other than that, anyone is allowed. our officiant was a 'humanist' and had no religious affiliation. but you're right, lots of people probably assume it has to be a minister/priest/etc.
Women deserve equal pay for equal work, but only if they're actually doing equal work - which is clearly not the case with the lazy, stupid, fuck-offs I work with.
This makes me think of women in the military. Which is fine, if they can perform to the same standard to which the men are held, but that's not the case. According to several of my family members that are in the Army, Nat. Guard, and Air Force, the physical tests for females is considerably less than males at the same position. That's not equality. And it also puts lives at risk, when too many lives are at risk to begin with.
I can't stand overly religious people. I hate when people try to defend the evil acts of the establishment (poisoning our air, water, and food) instead of educating themselves when they are the ones directly affected by them. All drugs should be legalized and unregulated. Intelligent people will make informed decisions on whether to use or not. The ignorant will OD and keep the gene pool cleaner.
I agree completely, drugs would definitely separate the sane from the unstable. Sorry kids, religion sucks; always put human reasoning above all else. People who defend the acts of the establishment should really pick up a book, look at history.
