Now you're losing me again. Don't you mean it makes no sense if you want to take care of endangered species
Obviously you see it different because you're not concerned about helping humans. So you might have an unorthodox opinion on what helps them.
But really, current measures do makes sense to take care of people. Most people see that (even if it thoroughly conflicts with what they would want). You're the exception here likely because you care little.

 

I care about human species very much.

The lockdown is not a good idea, I don't believe it minimizes the suffering of humans. That is why I don't agree with it.

But personally, I enjoy it.

 

What's confusing you is I then say it's okay if millions die.. I'm saying that scenario, that you say will happen, is not so bad (and not necessarily what will happen).

 

Well, when we got into that you got into some bigger principles and ways to look at life + you literally said this:

I enjoy it ok as well. It's just that the lack of physical interaction (not just sexual) might already be getting to me a little. You already live with your partner in a small town, so you might be less affected in your daily doings as others. Lucky. But you sound not really considerate about your fellow humans imo. I acknowledge that may just be how it came across so far. And btw I also acknowledge the right to not care intrinsicly about other people

Half the older folks I know would say, fuck it, I'll take the risk, I'm happy to die if it's my time. But I tend to gravitate to people who aren't terrified of the inevitable and are happy to be part of the Great Circle Of Life : P

 

The mystery reason is the people in the risk groups would refuse? I think that would be a minority. Most here at least thoroughly realize social isolation is the best way to not get infected (which in a lot of cases means not dying). And the other big group would say im ok with what's best for the majority of society, its not about me.

 

I said we don't deserve to be THRIVING as we are. Half the numbers. Give us a struggle. Hopefully build a better society.

Can't win, can I. If I say they should all be let out, that's wrong because lockdown is right..
If I say I'm happy with lockdown all summer, I'm not caring about those who lockdown is worse for.

 

Natural selection worked fine. Our emotional reasons for keeping people alive who nature would kill off are all very well, if we start adopting kids rather than making new ones. For a start.

Having unpopular opinions is exhausting. I need to get off phone for a while and go for a run.

 

It's not about winning or losing an argument. I see some conflicting sentences and maybe its all due to peculiar wording and me misinterpreting it I was merely trying to understand you.

Use your imagination a little bit, maybe? Like, don't just say “I live alone already” because that isn’t helpful at all.

this is about saving people. Yeah the lockdown sucks and it is a major inconvenience for a lot of people. Personally, its crippling me financially and stalling my business endeavors. But we need to stop talking about things like natural selection and humans as a species as if we're some kind of primal animal. Biologically speaking we are animals but we were given something else that makes us uniquely human... a conscience. And my conscience tells me that if this pain in the ass lockdown saves only a single human life then its all worth it.

Well. That's a problem.
People have so many associations with certain actions (this goes for both sides, with the whole "government control" thing) that we can't trust any of us are really thinking sensibly. Except me. I am the model of sense.

 

Please don't even hypothesize that. During ww2 whole population of American citizens were relocated for the "good" of the nation and it ruined entire lives. We're better than this

What if lockdown ends more life than the virus would without lockdown?
