Hi James - We are visiting another in Ohio to weigh our options. But right now there is Paul the founder and owner of the property including Kim and her daughter. Another lady from NY is there visiting now for about 2 days and another lady with her significant other and her 6 year old daughter coming on June 4th from MA for 2 days. Others coming to help and not stay. Lots of donations are coming in from neighboring farms and gardens with free seed, plants and maple syrup :) Lots of other people scheduled to arrive here and there, not sure exactly when. A gentleman from Florida, a couple more from MA and few more I cannot remember at this time. There is room for more, so no worries there. Lot's of work to be done, the road is cleared down to the garden area, but more clearing needed in that area, not a whole lot. We were going to camp out on the property for a week to stay and work continuously, and that is still the plan for the other members. It is a new community, so lots to do. Hope that helps and may your adventures in searching for community be fruitful.

Hi Kim - Miss you guys too - Made it all the way to Maryland and will be in Ohio tomorrow. Just an FYI - James called us from PA and plans to visit in 2 months or so after the wedding he is planned to attend. He spoke with Paul.

Love Ya Lots - Talk to you soon - Dawn, Troy & Ivy

Kim, I look forward to calling and speaking with you in the near future. Like colomtngl said I have my sister's wedding to attend before I can come out and see the place. From what I was told so far it sounds like a great place with lots of options. I'm also glad to hear it's in the beginning phase since that gives room to adjustments.

Colomtngl, I wish you the best for your family. I know in the world we live in today there are many life options for us to choose. I hope you find what your heart wants and that you may find the peace that man was meant to have. Cheers to your truly American pursuit of happiness.

Are you open to people under 19? I plan on getting out this summer (Age 18 by the way) and looking for a community to join. How are the winters there?

ChinaCat- Most definitely! The winters (I am told) are of course quite cold, but the last few years have been reasonably mild. Global warming. Average winter temp around 20 farenheit.

ChinaCat- Where I live in PA is like straight across from where this commune is in MA. I live in the snow belt and the winters here run from November until March. But the Average temp you'll see trough then is 32-36 F. The worst month is Jan. But like Morganja stated it has been real mild lately. The past three Decembers where I am we have had 60 F days here and there with the average temp throughout winter being 40 F.

Morganja- How is everything so far? I hope you are having good luck and are making much progress.

King James- LOL! Thank you for that! I'm from the West coast so doing my best to piece together some locals idears of the weather. ;) It's going great! We went and visited several local farms yesterday who were so wonderful and helped us by donating some seeds and plants. We will be working on clearing the major obstacles in the garden area today and prepping to plow hopefully tomorrow. Intermittent storms are expected so gonna do our best!

Heyy no problem, If you have any questions from either yourself or others interested then feel free to ask me. I'll lend my knowledge the best I can on any matter. That's great you are getting support from the locals. Just be sure to be planted by June if at all possible. Considering your screen name I take it that they do not frown on herbal relaxation??

LOL! Well, we are all adults (at least in age) and so long as one's personal behaviors do not endanger the community, then no one has any control over another's personal choices. And today we had a change in plans and decided to cut 2 paths down to what we envision to be the housing area. 1 is large enough for a farm vehicle to fit through and the other is for foot traffic.

If you want to build a hole big enough for a hobbit, let alone a human, in New England, better plan on having access to explosives. No doubt you need all kinds of licenses to do it.

What's your attitude toward nudity? If I were to visit, I'd want to be naked as much as the weather and mosquitoes would allow (another thing that isn't easy in New England).

LOL! Well, it's all in theory at this point. We'll do our best to stick to the vision :) As far as nudity, to each their own! Be naked as a jaybird should you so desire! But, we might wanna make sure we really trim back all the wildroses, blackberry vines and sumac! And you're more than welcome to help Hehehehe!

So what's the best thing for people who are interested--will there be scheduled times of work and fun and finding out what this is all about?

Speaking of naked people, I assume you know that you aren't far from one of New England's best known nude beaches. It's on the Harriman Reservoir, up the road in Wilmington, Vermont.

I'm not in this organization, but they have pictures:

"Schedule" is a foreign concept in community! LOL Give Paul a call at (413) 624-5555 and get to know all about it! Set up a visit and come play in the dirt with us. :) And, yes, I have heard of this beach through the grapevine, but haven't visited....yet....

My companion and I would love to join. He is a hillbilly from Kentucky and knows how to live off the land. I on the other hand have a lot to learn. We have our own monthly source of income, and we would love to build earth houses, and possibly one we could live in. I have never really been in snow before so this would be a real treat! We have 2 dogs and 1 cat. The dogs love the cat, but the cat hates the dogs. Please let us know if we would be able to enjoy your habitat! Email us: stephiejeansmile@gmail.com
