It serves really horrible coffee. IF you like froth with half a coffee bean in it then go there. On top of that it's run by a zionist who quite openly said he'd like to see all arabs removed form palistine.
bad.. I think that starbucks is really racist... their are never black people working there and they are rude to black people. also the farmers that supply and grow the beans for starbucks get paid waaaay below minumim wage and also in some cases beaten or arn't treated very good. Or fair.
plus i find that starbucks looks like some rich snobby cafe. I went in there a few times and felt so uncomfortable... Like i was super low class and that i feel like dirt compared to the people that normally go there or work there.,
I've never bought anything at Starbucks, but I did drop a really big load there. My mom and sister like their coffee, but they think its waaaay overpriced.
my cousin went to work for them, ended up cutting off his dreads, taking out hid lipring and having to cover up his tattoo
Are you refering to the one chain that dosn't hire blacks? How do you know that no black people ever applied? Farmers don't work for Starbucks, Starbucks and any other coffee place will buy beans from farmers, it's the farmers decision to sell the beans to them. And beaten?!? Beaten by whom? And the only time I've set foot in a starbucks it was swarming with hippies and the avant guard type university students....
in my town, there got a lot of starbucks, but the price was super high! still many people get inside it, i wonder!i dont think starbucks was better then the hong kong style coffe shop!
Last I heard Starbucks does not use Fair Trade Coffee. Meaning that the pay less than a living wage to their coffee growers. I do not support Starbucks in any way.
STARBUCKS IS AMAZING... I love that place. They serve coffee wich attracks me. And they7 have a great atmoshpere so you can sit and relax while you get hyper off coffee. And the starbucks I go to has amazing people who work there, they are so nice. Starbucks is what saved me and one of my best friends from falling apart. Yes the prices my be high be its worth it.
Where did you get you information from ?. Something i posted earlier [within this thread]. http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1279574&postcount=21 Starbucks' third corporate social responsibility (CSR) report, published last week, reveals a "long-term, sustainable" strategy that it hopes will enable it to provide coffee drinkers from Santiago to Sydney with their regular caffeine fix without incurring the wrath of the anti-globalisation lobby Beneath the picture of a Thai farmer holding a Starbucks-branded mug, the report lays out its "holistic approach". This means paying farmers fair prices and offering favourable terms, purchasing certified and conservation coffees and providing farmers access to affordable credit. Last year Starbucks paid an average price of $1.20 (66p) per pound for its green (unroasted) coffee in 2003 - roughly double the market rate. The Living Our Values report also states that the chain bought 97% of all its coffee at negotiated prices. The move, first pioneered by ethical coffee roasters such as Cafédirect, helps protect suppliers against any future downturn in the market. In the same chart we read that Starbucks sources almost a third of its coffee stock from growers with whom it has a direct relationship, while a fifth comes from those that have a long-term contract with the company.
If the farmers are not treated fairly why don't they work for Folger's or something as the such, as they MUST be a better run company and much more fair. If they don't like how they are treated they can leave. Minimum wage is BS anyways, you should be paid what your worth and if you don't like it, get another job. Nothing wrong with Starbuck's, it's a corp just like any other, they are after money like most others.
i don't like starbucks, mainly because they wouldn't let me use the bathroom when i really had to but then again they did let me use their phone once funny story about that phone call
Most companies of more than two locations do this as part of a business plan. Good business plans equal heathy shops that don't open, hire a bunch of people and then go belly up. Crowfoot coffee and Peaberry both estimate trafic, & both do OK. That said, Penny Lane, Boulder's great indy coffee shop is gone because a new building is being built on it's land (was shared with an indian restaurant. the restrooms were common to both and that was strange since you had to go through the kitchen from the restaurant). I will support and indy with good product over a regional chain and a regional over a national/ international.
i work at a caribou coffee. they're not as big as starbucks and my boss says they may never be. a lot of people come in and tell me they hate starbucks. it's really funny.
Among other things, I'd simply rather support local business rather than multi-national corporations.
