The X-Files rules the fucking roost! Star Trek is laughable. Poor, poor special effects. Piss poor acting which makes for extremely unconvincing scenarios. Uniforms are nothing special, as mentioned earlier in this topic. They are plain as fuck. I'm with that 16 year old with the red font (apart from the bit that said Dune was made after Star Wars). I think this thread is a true insult to the saga that is Star Wars.
I suppose if you like flashy effects over an excellent original story. The medium vs. the message as it were. as an aside I actually really liked the short lived "lone gunmen" x-files spinoff but the original show jumped the shark in season 8...
Star Trek hands down the best Sci-Fi series of all times. TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and even Enterprise I loved them all.
Star Trek get's my vote. Why?? Star War's is really good, and I used to prefer it over star trek, but now that I'm a bit older, I relize Star Trek is a lot smarter. Star Wars is just to childish now... star trek is a lot more mature and I think they cast the best people for there roles... William Shatner as Captain Kirk... kicks ass! So yeah I voted for star trek...
You know I just read some more posts on here and I must say... What the hell is wrong with all you people!? Why do you vote for Star wars just because it has better special effects! who cares about that!? and also star trek is a series so there budget isnt big at all for say a star wars movie.... and also star treks acting is very well done! But I guess you are only 15... so what does it matter what you think anyway.
And berrating someone's opinion based on age, over what is probably the most inconsequential debate ever, is mature? :1eye: Next: Ninjas vs Pirates - the Generational Feud.
Star Wars by far... way better characters, the sweetest villains/locations/weapons, way more humor, the best music... not even close.
Star Wars hands down!!!!!!!!! i love the old trilogy a lot and the new one. Star Trek is good but its kinda boring and fake looking. Star Wars forever!!
I attempted in vain to stay awake while watching any episode of Star Wars. Star Trek at least is able to bore me to death without causing me 2 fall asleep. Both cant compete with the real masterpiece: Starcrash . It's a bit like Pink Flamingos: you'll never ever forget it. No, it'snt a good thing.
The people in Star Trek always really creeped me out, so I never watched it. i never really liked Star Wars, though.
The one thing that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet is the fact that almost every single sentient being in Star Trek is humanoid, whereas there was enough creativity in the world of Star Wars to bring us differing body forms for the sentient characters, as well as languages and technology. The detail that goes into the Millenium Falcon, as well as it's odd shape, shows the amount of attention that went into creating the famous ship. Star Trek seems to follow the same molds and each new planet seems to have the same technology as the next. And the characters are almost the same, excepting the occasional pointy ear, ridged forhead, or blue skin. Sorry, but I'm not sold with Star Trek. That being said, I think Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country are brilliant! But my vote still goes with Star Wars.
You're totally right about that. Also that universal language device sucks. I don't care if it makes the Star trek stories more varied, it's highly unlikely all species have those things, same with the screen communication. I still dig Voyager, TNG and Enterprise though. They have nice themes. First contact has to be my favourite Star Trek movies. But the Star wars world with all the details is even better indeed.
That's not true, there are several sentient alien species in the original Star Trek series that were not humanoid. I think that Star Trek might be better science fiction but Star Wars is more entertaining, if you know what I mean. I like them both.
Star Wars is the best...Anakin is definitely cool but unfortunately he became bad lately...I really love this movie... DVD CORNER AMAZING TV SHOWS
Thats not true at all, Star Trek had MANY different aliens who weren't humanoid at all, you will have to excuse most of the aliens in the original series for being humanoid because in case you hadn't noticed it was made in the 1960's and special effects and make-up being what they were (and also the fact they had next to no money to make the series) it was easier, and cheaper to have human looking aliens. I definatly choose Star Trek, it's so much more intelligent, in depth and watchable than Star Wars. People like Star Wars because it's easier for them to follow. I usually find people that say Star Trek is boring generally just don't understand it.
I know there were non-humanoid aliens, but not many of them were sentient. And those that were sentient had maybe one episode for one creature, and each time it was a creature they hadn't come across due to the vast majority being humanoid. The only recurring role of a non-humanoid character was Odo in DS9, and even he spent most of his time in humanoid form, mostly to fit in because of how uncommon other forms were. I gotta lay off the sci fi for a while, I think.
